Amantine-Lucile-Aurore Dupin was born on July 1st, 1804 in Paris, France. She was a French romantic writer who is widely known for her rustic novels. She was raised in Nohant, the country home of her grandmother, which is where she developed her love for the countryside, which was illustrated in most of her works. She married Casmir Dudevant in 1822, but soon got tired of his lack of sensitivity after a few years. She developed a platonic relationship with a young magistrate and then, a passionate affair with a neighbour. She moved to Paris in 1831, where her friend Henri de Latouche, the director of the newspaper Le Figaro, accepted some of the articles she wrote with Jules Sandeau (under the pseudonym Jules Sand).
