¬ HOST RANGE
Beauveria bassiana is the fungus with which AGROBIONSA formulates BEA – SIN. BEA – SIN offers a wide host range, including: Whitefly (Bemisia tabaci, B. argentifolli, Trialeurodes vaporarium), May beetles (Phyllophaga sp, Cyclophala spp.), corn stalk borer, among others.
¬ INFECTION MODE
Unlike bacteria and viruses, the entomopathogenic fungi such as BEA - SIN (Beauveria bassiana) can infect insects not only through the intestine, but also through spiracles and particularly directly by penetration of the integument. This property is independent of the insect's eating habits (Technical Data - CB 03, 1997).
In a land far far away called Skittonia. Skittonia was known to have to best skittles in the world, mostly every kid went there for the summer just to come home with bags of skittles. Firstly, eggs were collected from the eyes of Scomberomorus niphonius and disinfected in 1% sodium sulfite solution for 3 min, and subsequently in 3% Lysol brand disinfectant for 5 min. The disinfected eggs were then transferred to sterile vials to clone. Secondly, third stage larvae of Lucilia sericata were selected to be placed in 3.5% formalin for 5 min, 2% hydrogen peroxide solution for 3 min, and then 5% dilute hydrochloric acid solution for 5 min. After the two-step disinfection, the larvae remined vigorous. A hundred randomly selected larvae were proven to be aseptic by bacterial culture test.

Today’s lab incorporated the six steps of the scientific method to the growth and development of their own Wisconsin Fast Plant, also referred to as “Brassica rapa” in the scientific community. My group’s experiment included researching the effect of acidity on seed germination. The Wisconsin Fast Plant or Brassica rapa, was originally created by Professor Paul H. Williams at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. The word Brassica can refer to many different plants such as mustard plants, cabbages, rapes, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, kale, kohlrabi, turnip, rutabaga, and the Chinese cabbage. The Brassica rapa plants were created to help provide a better understanding and more research on the Brassica plant’s family diseases. Brassica rapa plants are in the Cruciferae family, and are named this way because all of the plants have 4 flowers in the form of a crucifix.

Vitus Jonassen Bering, born in 1681 in Denmark, was a cartographer and explorer for Russia. After one of his voyages, he joined the naval fleet of Tsar Peter I The Great. The Tsar appointed him to find out whether or not North America and Russia share a border because Russia was interested in both colonization in North America and in finding a northeast passage to China around Siberia. He set sail from the Siberian peninsula of Kamchatka, and though bad weather and severe lack of food prevented thorough observation, he concluded that North America and Russia were not connected by land. Vitus Bering later decided to take a second voyage. He set sail from Kamchatka on the St. Peter with Aleksey Chirikov in the St. Paul. The ships separated in
Mrs. Dubose’s camellias are representative of prejudice and the actions being taken against it. Like racism, Jem tried to handle the problem in a way that at first seemed effective, but in the long run, it was not. Jem “…had cut the tops off every camellia bush Mrs. Dubose owned until the ground was littered with green buds and leaves”(Lee 137). Racism was also handled in this way. Although their efforts were well intended, as long as there were strong supporters on both sides and none of the solutions had a large impact there were no long term results. The camellias are symbolic of this when Mrs. Dubose asks Jem “Thought you could kill my snow-on-the-mountain did you? Well, Jessie says the tops growing back out. Next time you’ll know to do
Vietnam war veteran and novelist Tim O’Brien, in his piece titled, “The Things They Carried,” portrays personal war stories of a group of soldiers during the Vietnam War to convey how stories and memories can aid in coping with death. The novel was extremely emotional and thought provoking, causing me to question what was real or not, and how these stories were more than just stories. As the novel progressed, it became increasingly clear how, for O’Brien and some of the other soldiers, these stories were not just stories for the them to reminisce on, they were a form of therapy, helping them to live on, even when faced with death and morbid experiences. Through these various stories ranging from the distant past and the present, O’Brien successfully
Jane Addams was a feminist, social worker, author, famous activist, and leader of the women's suffrage movement. She believed that before women’s suffrage that their voices should be heard in legislation and therefore should have the right to vote. She strongly believed that women should generate aspirations and search out opportunities to find them. She also cared for all kinds of people. Jane Addams and her college friend Ellen Starr moved into a old mansion in an immigrant neighborhood in Chicago, 1889. Which then became the Hull House. She responded to the needs of the community by establishing a nursery, dispensary, kindergarten, playground, gymnasium, and cooperative housing. This attracted many reformers dedicated to social service. She and other
There are a myriad beautiful types of flowers in our lives today that are great for gardeners, but in the United States, one of the easiest to recognize ends up being marigolds. There are more than 50 different species of this type of flower that are all taxonomies by botany into what is known as the Tagetes genus.
The lifecycle of a heartworms begins when a female mosquito ingest blood containing microfilariae from a heartworm infected animal. Inside the body of the mosquito, the microfilariae develops into first stage larvae (L1) and then undergoes two more process to develop into third stage larvae (L3) of which is the infective stage. Depending on the temperature, this development process can take between eight and thirty days. At this point, when the infected mosquito attaches to a cat and feeds on its blood, the third-stage larva is transferred into the mosquito bite wound. Within three days of entering the cat, the L3 molt to the L4 stage in the tissues and muscles that lay just below the skin of the cat. After about two months of migrating through the muscles and tissues, the L4 undergoes a final development into immature adult heartworms. Seventy to ninety days post infection, the immature adult heartworms then enter a peripheral vein and are carried by the cat’s blood circulation system to the caudal pulmonary arteries. This is where the majority of heartworms are cleared from the cat due to a mass immune response, but a few may continue development into adults. Once the heartworm develop into adults, they invade the heart first and then spread to other organs in the body and cause
My mom planted her marigolds and helped me out with my problems with a person. She would be my “therapist,” my helper, the shoulder to cry on. When I would be sad, mad, upset, depressed, etc. she would be there for me and would comfort me when I needed her the most. When she “planted marigolds,” it symbolized care and hope that I will no longer be all those feelings I had before. My mom helped me out a lot and I am glad she did because I am joyful of her being there for me. Before my mom made me feel great again, I would not go anywhere with my friends nor go over to my relatives house or anything.
If one was to simply try and watch Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead without any background knowledge or familiarity of Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, then my enjoy the wit and foolishness of the characters but wouldn’t understand the underlying messages. Tom Stopard’s idea of what two side characters in Hamlet do when they’re not in the main play by Shakespeare is very interesting. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead follows these two characters on their journey to questioning many of the things happening to them. Stoppard makes us question, “What if the play Hamlet is real?” The three main messages in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead are freedom, mortality, and reality.
Biological transmission occurs when the pathogen reproduces within a biological vector that transmits the pathogen from one host to another . Arthropods are the main vectors responsible for biological transmission. For example, hemipterans (called “kissing bugs” or “assassin bugs”) transmit Chagas disease to humans by defecating when they bite, after which the hu-man scratches or rubs the infected feces into a mucous membrane or break in the
