Kansas State Fair
In this essay I will be talking about the Kansas state fair. At the fair you can go to the cattle show where you can see cows of all shapes and color. Skinny cows fat cows brown cows and black cows. They all have vivid smells of cow turds and dirt. While at the State fair you can also go to the food court that smells like deep friers, cotton candy, and roasted corn. When you look in the windows when you order your food you will see deep friers with delicious food sitting in them being clocked to golden perfection. While you are at the state fair, I would suggest going on rides. They are the funniest rides in Kansas, they have the slingshot, which shoots you in the air while your adrenaline spikes.
There are a few sights and sounds that an individual will experience at the Fair. When he or she first arrive, they will see the rides with their bright, colorful lights flashing and hear the rides creak and whiz by as they are walking through the gate. A person can hear the excitement in the screaming, laughter, and the crying little boy who is upset because he could not knock the milk bottles over. As he or she are walking, they can see a large crowd and while they are passing through, they can catch snippets of each conversation
The first criteria for a fun trip to the fair is that it must bring us as friends closer to one another. This is so important because if you don’t grow closer to each other it doesn’t develop your friendships. If we become closer, it makes the trip even
The fair appeals to a wide variety of people including fans, families, friends, and tourists. Besides your typical fair entertainment, the state fair has many non-fair attractions. The fair hosts many distinguished musical performances drawing large amounts of fans. The Cotton Bowl is located within fairgrounds, showcasing The Red River Showdown between the University of Texas at Austin and Oklahoma. As you would expect, the fair is also a very family friendly place. The fair offers a lot of entertainment gauged for children such as rides, carnival games, and face painting. We asked Stacy Adams, a local mother of 3, “What is your favorite thing about the fair?” and she responded, “As a kid, I
The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893 was one of the most memorable and historical moments in American history other than the Civil War. However, some people do not know what went on during the fair. They only think that people came together and the Ferris wheel that was there, now in Navy Pier, debut there. The Chicago World's Fair of 1893 may be a memorable event. But the majority of Americans don't know how extraordinary it was.
The United States is divided into 435 congressional districts, four being in Kansas. Each with a population of about 710,000 individuals. Each district elects a representative to the House for a two-year term. Representatives are also called congressmen/congresswomen. The four Kansas representatives are Tim Huelskamp, Lynn Jenkins, Kevin Yoder, and Mike Pompeo. They are all four Republicans and represent the four different districts in Kansas. Tim has the first district, Lynn the second, Kevin the third and Mike the fourth. Harvey County is located in the fourth district.
The State Fair, for many years, has brought together people from statewide, even nationwide. Coming from Texas, I have been a part of the tradition of extravagant state fairs since I was as child, and have had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the nation. State fairs have many attractions that convey the beauty and culture of the state in events and contests which show the production of agriculture and, in the twentieth century, industrial gains. The fairs typically consist of things such as carnivals, which have numerous rides like we see in the film, State Fair, and contests that promote a culture of domesticity. The film, State Fair, is a perfect example which explains the importance of the state fair, but also American society and culture. Furthermore, State Fair being filmed after World War II truly captures the happiness of postwar America, as well as the importance of family life as the shadow of the Cold War looms.
Larson uses figurative language to compare the exposition to a “hurricane.” The use of a metaphor to explain the similarities between how immense and deranged the fair has become to a natural disaster that literally destroys everything in its path shows just how important and extravagant this event is for the town of Chicago and the United States as a whole. Readers get insight into how overwhelming and chaotic the making of the World’s Fair is especially for the people directly involved. Readers acquire a feel for how a seemingly amazing event can have an exhausting and draining impact on the people who have to put it together. The World’s fair presents a challenge
Founded in 1764, St. Louis Missouri is home to many diverse groups, businesses, and corporations. Post American Civil War, local immigration and industrialization contributed to increasing populations. In terms of racial demographics, the majority ethnic backgrounds in St. Louis approximately include Whites, African Americans/Blacks, Latinos/Hispanics, and Asians. Similar to NYC, immigrants and refugees of war settled in St. Louis and created their own subculture. In the early 1990’s after the Bosnian War, more than forty thousand refugees arrived and established St. Louis as the largest Bosnian community aside from their home country of course.
Along the borders of Mercer, Beaver, and Butler county you will find a county that contains many unique characteristics. This county is known as Lawrence County. The county as a whole houses 88,000 people. The counties seat, New Castle, alone houses 22,000 of those people.
I never will understand this day to the fair and what all happened, I don’t think anyone will. I just know that one animal ruined a month for me. It was the week right before fair, and all I did was walk my cow. It was the first time ever showing a cow, my brother convinced me that it would be a fun learning experience. That didn’t happen at all for me when I walked into that show ring with a 1,100 pound steer. I was up at 4:00 a.m. the morning of the show, and I was ready to go wash my cows and get them ready for the show.
To me, the primary reason Charlotte Country Day has an honor code is to keep students equal. The honor code keeps students equal, disallowing students to help each other during tests and before and after tests. By this, I mean one student sharing information about a test to a student who has not taken it yet. The honor code and council also keep students equal because there is a set of standards everyone must abide to. The honor council then assesses these standards and applies them to all students equally when in an hearing. The honor code and honor council is also important to keep students honest. While these standards are not upheld 100% of the time, the vast majority of students try their best to abide by the code.
Today marks the day where the state fair comes to town and they released a new ride called “Erikson’s ride”
Beginning your long day at the Iowa state fair starts with waiting in a 10+ minute line to purchase a ticket. Already sweating on the 80 degree day, you start your day walking into the fair wondering what place you are going to, what new food you are going to try, and what new things you will see and experience. You first see the busy crowds and the thousands of people of walking with their family or waiting in lines to get the new fried food, Personally my favorite thing to do at the fair is walk around with my friends and basically whatever happens happens, and when you get tired of walking all day choose a comfy spot to sit and people watch. We never have a set thing we need to do and doing it in the moment makes it better.
Kansas has many state parks and the popular place is the monument rocks and the castle rocks. The monument rocks and the castle rocks have fossils in ancient chalks in plain western Kansas which is a spectacular landmark. The chalk was deposited during the Cretaceous period of geological history about 80 million years ago, when the central interior was covered by sea. The fossils were like shark teeth, fish bones, even dinosaur bones, and other sea creatures. The fossils in the chalk bed go to the Sternberg Museum in Hays.Michael J. Everhart is a shark hunter and he found a shark skull which was under sand and gravel The chalk was a good material for trapping and preserving
The toothsome cotton candy tranquilizes my nose, 50 meters from the funfair. The dazzling lights are blazed from the rides like an electrostatic phenomenon while the music is being roared at a piercing level. Entering the gates of the pleasure ground, I hand my money into the collection box to a spotty 18 year old male who didn’t once look up from his phone.
