Guzel; a fine, authentic, Turkish cuisine that offers genuine, lip-smacking dishes was established on the 27th of June 2014 and it’s only branch is located in Manama, Saqiyah Avenue. The restaurant is named after one of Turkey’s most remarkable, ambitious and loved actress ‘Vallah Guzel Olmus’ which is one of the reasons why it is the only restaurant in Bahrain that truly reflects an image of Turkey’s culture. It’s traditional food, eye-grabbing décor, atmosphere and the staff’s outfit as well, makes you feel as if you are in Turkey and eliminates the thousands of miles between you and the home of grills.
From the moment you set foot in the restaurant you feel Istanbul and Bursa; its atmosphere represents a modern Turkish tone. Guzel is well-known for its elegant, personalized yet fancy décor which reflects a pleasant soothing ambiance. Many things around me took me back to Turkey; it’s radiant, rich and risky red coated walls that symbolize the Turkish flag, its upholstered chairs, some printed with spectacular pictures of Turkey’s most touristic sights, while others were printed with what seems like newspapers, symbolizing some of Turkey’s ancient famous history. As to Guzel, the service was not technically bad, but it wasn’t so pleasant either. On some-days you might be lucky enough to be greeted with waiters wreathed in smiles, and escorted smoothly into a table where they start a friendly conversation and help you choose the right dish. Thus on other days like weekends, you will be greeted with cheesy, unpleasant smiles reflecting an impatient annoyed staff, serving food after what seemed like a decade since we ordered, with facial expressions so unappetizing that affects many customers
