Abortion is a very controversial topic in Texas and in the United States. The majority of Texas government is run by conservative Republicans, therefore due to their own personal beliefs and values, there has been many restrictions placed by the lawmakers. This matter is very important because it should be a woman's decision if she does or does not want to get an abortion. I believe there should not be so many restrictions that would prevent a woman from making her choice without being interfered with by government.

To me the supreme court decision in Roe v. Wade states that

As of July 1, 2015 the following restrictions were placed for abortion.A woman must receive state-directed counseling that includes information designed to discourage her from having an abortion and then wait 24 hours before the procedure is provided.
The use of telemedicine for the performance of medication abortion is prohibited. The parent of a minor must consent and be notified before an abortion is provided. Public funding would only be available for abortion only in cases of life endangerment, rape or incest. A woman must undergo an ultrasound before obtaining an abortion; the provider must show and describe the image to the woman. If the woman lives within 100 miles of an …show more content…

Medical Studies consistently show that in the first-trimester, where nine in ten abortions are performed, the mortality rate for abortion-related deaths is no more than four in one-million abortions. However the number of deaths increases to one death per 11,000 when it is performed at 21 weeks or later. The risk associated with childbirth is approximately fourteen times higher that an abortion procedure. There is a less than 0.3% risk of major complication from an abortion that would need hospital care.
