Racism in America these days is too common, and is also the cause of the “Black Lives Matter” riots and arguments. My idea to get rid of racism in America is to eliminate race altogether, without “race” then racism wouldn’t be a problem at all, that's why my idea is the best.. Most citizens make racist jokes without even knowing it, and even when they do realize it, they don’t make any effort to make up for it. Without “races” these jokes wouldn’t be funny because they wouldn’t even exist. The main reason people are racist is because they see other races as different, or strange, and even alien. Race should not determine how you treat them, or see them as. Just because someone could be white or black, doesn’t mean it’s right to treat them
In everyday life, everyone experiences racism. Whether it is a humorous racial stereotype joke or to something offensive like asking how Asians can see or asking an Asian person if he or she is Chinese. What we need to remember is that no one is born racist. Racism is either taught or learned. The definition of the term race that was created socially which signifies and symbolizes social conflicts and interests by referring to different types of human bodies. The definition of race is how we use it. For example the label “white” instead of using Caucasian. Racism still exists today because is how we distinguish people by their pigment of the skin.
Getting completely rid of racism in America has to start by one person, and then people will begin standing together and stop it. If few people stood up for themselfs then more and more could catch on then it could definitely make an impact or get a start at making racism vanish and never happen again.
We know that racism has been around for thousands of years and even after slavery ended, there was still inequality in America and even till this day we still see inequality everywhere in the American society. Is there really a solution to end racism in America? After thousands of years of white Americans being “superior” to African Americans, can history be erased? We see that Africans were supposed to obey their “masters,” they were not allowed to practice their own cultural beliefs, and could not even appear in churches that were ran by whites. In the sixth chapter of Erasing Racism: The Survival of the American Nation, Asante introduces the impacts religion had on racism in the African American community.
Among friends and even with family, we sometimes make jokes and off-handed comments about race and stereotypes just for purposes of humor and trying to be funny. That is one form of racism called casual racism. Casual racism “refers to conduct involving negative stereotypes or prejudices about people on the basis of race, color or ethnicity.” Casual racism isn’t intended to cause offense or harm to anyone but to be used “casually” among people you know to be humorous or funny. Although, we don’t consider that there are people to this day who still experience discrimination and prejudice; they are hurt in many ways. I believe that casual racism is unacceptable due to people still getting hurt unknowingly. Just because we don’t see racism and think we eradicated it, doesn’t mean people still don’t experience it.
What I would do to eradicate and abolish racism in America is to first have a live national press conference so everyone can receive the message and I would say that all racial slurs are prohibited regardless of race and there would be a fine for anyone heard using racial slurs. I would also put a program in place for a safe space to talk about racial slurs and what the communities think about people using them because usually people use racial slurs when they’re angry so releasing anger in a healthy way surrounded by peers would be a much better option by conveying feelings using bad words and or racial slurs. Even though there could be a public backlash which could cause more anger and violence, In my opinion I think that it would be the
Racism is learned from everyday life, but it can also be unlearned. The solution to end racism is to use symbols in society that have a strong impact on people like
The origins of racism in our individual lives are difficult to trace. Our everyday lives are polluted with racist jokes, unfair treatment, and inequality. As well as negative stereotypes that create disadvantages, in the work place, education, and in public. We are constantly surrounded by this polluted air and must face these disadvantages. No matter what race, color, class or gender we are, we have a voice and the ability to counteract racism and prejudices and eliminate the racial smog that surrounds us all.
We Americans should know by now what racism means from the news or from watching how colored skin people get bullied more than white people. Did you know that in 1870, 4.8 million African Americans lived in the United States and in 2007, there were 40.7 million African Americans that lived in the United States. In this essay, I will be explaining the events that happen due to racism and how we can stop racism. Three actions we can take to end the violence are to stop black churches getting burned down, making all races equal, and stopping racist comments.
Can we put an end to racism? This country has continued to struggle with issues between African Americans themselves and Caucasians and it’s time that we start solving it by effort, education, listening, and especially taking the time to understand the problems of African Americans. Henry Louis Gates Jr. highlights some of the background of the problem of racism in his article, “Black America and the Class Divide.”
Racism is a global problem where societies subject individuals with certain attributes that are judged as inferior or superior to special treatment [3]. Although its prevalence is waning off, this problem is very old. It would also be quite difficult to eradicate racism from our societies completely. This is due to the obvious variations in people’s religion, color, geographic location, culture and economic factors such as social class [3]. Whereas eradication of racism might sound impossible, the society can make enormous achievement in curbing its influence on most of the world’s communities.
Racism has little to do with race, and everything to do with ignorance. Ignorant people like to imagine a world without whites would be a world without slavery and racism, but they are wrong. The reality is that a world without whites would still be a world with people, and some people will always be guided by greed, ignorance, and hate. Search all throughout history and you will see this illustrated time and again with homogeneous cultures enslaving and denigrating their own race. From the ancient Egyptians to the Greeks and Romans to the English and Irish to the Native American (pre-colonialism) and even to African and Middle Easterners today, humanity has consistently shown little discernment for color when perpetrating its evils onto the
Racism is one of the world’s major issues today. "What racism?" many people tend to say, "Didn't we just elect this black guy president?" (Implying: "Doesn't that prove that racism is over in America?").It is obvious that racism is bad as it was many decades ago but it sure has not gone away. Racism still exists in America because of popular culture, history, and even politics.
The solutions to the ongoing issue of racism is that if people were not ignorant of other cultures, and races , people could actually live in a world together in harmony, without racism. Until people can learn to respect on anther and not condemn them for their appearance or culture, a world of racism cannot die . The reason being Racism stems from ignorance that is present in the mind of people. racism is not something that is inherited , it is taught. the ignorance that was created many years ago have traveled from generation to generation, people have honestly just become ore accepting to it. if we can teach future generations to refrain from the ignorance and racist tendencies of older generations, one day we can reduce racism . Not
I completely disagree that the only way to bring about the end of racism is to not to talk about it. Even if everybody refuses to talk about it, there will consistently be people who are racist. Their ideals will always be there, especially if there is no one talking about it and taking action towards them.
My belief on the way to end racism is this, I believe that the best way to end racism is to have every person that's racist, to become friends with someone with the race they don't like.
