What is my learning style? Well, my learning style is the way that I tend to learn the best. It involves with my preferred method of taking in, organizing, and making sense of information. According to Robert Leamnson, PhD shared his view of the learning process with two main components that are: understanding and remembering. I will share on some of his suggestions that will help a student improve their learning skills.
Learning involves the above two components, understanding and remembering. As Dr. Leamnson reported they will not stand alone, leaving either one insufficient. Dr. Leamnson shared that we need “brain work” he refers that to, attention and concentration. Learning is the acquisition and development of memories and behaviors,
Learning style: My learning style is considered to be auditory and kinesthetic. Yes, I prefer learning through listening and making notes at the same time. Being an auditory learner I depend on hearing and speaking as a main way of learning. I also learn from experiments or activity related to what I study in class.
It’s important for me to identify my ‘Learning Style’ because it maximises my own personal learning; Honey and Mumford states ‘’each learner ought to understand their learning style and seek out opportunities to learn using that style’’ to do this. I’d say I’m very particular about the way I go about learning and I am not entirely open-minded in my approach to
The learning style I identified with is read/write. I basically learn things better by reading and writing things down. As you read and write things down it makes it easier for me to remember things better. If I continuously re-read things, I would remember them for a long time. And if I re-write things I’d be ably to remember it for a long time as well. Because I remember better if I read I always keep a highlighter near by because if I highlight something I know it’ll be important and it will make it easier for studying for test. Not only that, because I use different colored highlighters it makes me remember things more also. Yes, I did know that this was my preferred learning style before completing this assessment because,
In conclusion by reading and learning that there are different learning styles and the style I predominately follow, I now know how to apply some simple techniques that will aid in my learning in my classes. I might never be able to change my style of learning and, even less likely, change
My learning style is being a visual learner. First, a visual learner is someone who has to see what they're learning in order to understand the material taught. When learning, I prefer to use graphs, charts, diagrams, pictures, videos, and other things instead of listening to a teacher talk. When I study notes for a quiz I always end up highlighting most of the text. Being a visual learner impacts others and I in different ways. First, studies show that classrooms are needing more visual aid type teaching lessons because so many children learn visually, but aren't getting the help they need. If more teachers taught with pictures, examples, diagrams ,etc, then there would be a huge rise in test scores. Students including myself can study better and increase our vocabulary by being taught in an environment that matches our learning type.
For me, my personal leaning style is visual learning. I learn through the observation of diagrams, pictures and handouts etc. I like to highlight, underline the important points, use colour, use mind maps and I think of images and visuals to process information and prefer written assessments over verbal assessments. By knowing and understanding my personal learning style, this assists me when I am identifying, evaluating and selecting development opportunities and taking advantage of new learning opportunities that I will come across and will help in adapting to a new situation and new opportunity that may not be an advantage for my personal learning style but an opportunity to take that I would be willing to become competent in and adapt my
Learning styles are different for everyone. Your learning style may be auditory, mathematical/logical, tactical, or so on, but everyone has their own learning techniques. Someone could even be a mix between tactical, auditory, and visual.
My personal learning style is the visual style. It also may be referred to as the spatial
As humans, we differ in many ways and our personalities allow us to react and deal with situations as accordingly. However, just as our reactions differ according to our personalities, as learners, we too have preferences to which style we opt for, according to our suitability. There are various styles to learning; based on the work produced by Kolb, Peter Honey and Alan Mumford developed and identified four learning styles which include Pragmatist, Reflector, Activist and Theorist. It is said that in order to achieve the best of our academic abilities, one must understand and use the learning style which is best suited to maximise themselves.
Throughout life everyone learns. How we learn and whether we are able to retain and recall that information is the problematic part. This paper will discuss the ways that we all are diverse and the various ways we are most able to learn for long-term knowledge.
The objective of learning is to understand information intended to be learned. According to Brown (2000) learning styles is defined as the manner in which individuals perceive and process information in learning situations" (Journal of Studies in Education, 2012). Depending on one 's perspective, preferred learning styles help defined in multiple ways to get the most out of any learning or teaching experience.
Such examples help us to think about how we have preferences for the manner in which we learn. Thus, understanding learning styles approaches helps us to consider an individual’s dominant or preferred way of thinking in turn helping us to learn better in lesser time.
Learning is the art of gaining skills, preference, information, ethics, behavior and can engage one in grasping different kind of information. There are many styles of learning, as we being college students we can have many learning styles. According to Honey and Mumford there are four major styles of learning as follows Activists, Reflectors, Theorists and Pragmatists.
Learning can happen in so many different ways at different capacities. A baby learns to crawl as it grows. School children and college students attend classes to learn invaluable skills and gather knowledge. A practitioner at work learns to hone his/her
According to Kolb’s (1984) many people recognize that each person prefers different learning styles and techniques. Learning styles group common ways that people learn. Everyone has a mix of learning styles. Some people may find that they have a dominant style of learning, with far less use of the other styles. Others may find that they use different styles in different
