The Roman Empire was arguable one of the greatest settlements to have lived on this planet. It was like no other in its time, or for years to come; its military strategies, art, religion, inventions, political structure, and gladiator fights, made it what it was, an Empire.
It bore some of the greatest leaders in history such as; Julius Caesar, Augustus Caesar,
Justinian, and Scipio Africanus who have inspired leaders for years. The Roman Empire has given us battle tactics that are still used in modern warfare, inventions that have been built upon and improved!
This historic empire came to an end however, but how?
It wasn’t a steep slope to their demise but it was a slope none the less. What started the fall was the rule of a negligent Emperor,

Commodus met his death not on the battle field, but in a gladiator ring, strangled to death by a slave! No one suspected it and it sent the empire into a spiral of chaos.
For the next hundred years, leaders of the most unusual backgrounds held the title of

The Roman empire owed its existence to Julius Caesar’s military genius and leadership. At the time of his birth, the Roman republic was rife with corruption, losing touch with the people as Rome rapidly expanded. In addition, the republic suffered much unrest due to an excess of slave labor, leaving many unemployed for the government to sustain with basic food and entertainment, or “bread and circuses.” Caesar changed this, joining partnership with two other prominent men, the wealthy Crassus and the general Pompey, to form the First Triumvirate. However, he quickly took the reins of the new government, securing his position as dictator with many populist actions, such as distributing land to poor farmers. They, in turn, showed loyalty toward their leader, providing unity and patriotism. The Roman empire was born into the perfect geographical and cultural circumstances to rise to greatness.
Did you know that the Roman empire was one of the strongest and one of the most powerful empire? Well as we all know the Roman empire fell for these reasons. The first reason is because the population decreased. The next reason is because the Roman empire had a economic crisis. The final reason is because the Roman empire had tons of invaders invading Rome at the same time so Rome couldn’t fight all those empires!.
“...sacked by outside invaders… Italy and the west were shattered…” (Primary Reasons for the fall of Rome article). When the main point of an empire gets taken over, worry spreads. Worry makes people unsure and they start freaking out. This causes chaos and chaos lead to even more disaster. Rome was first invaded by the Visigoths (Doc C).

How can a civilization that has been so powerful for a thousand years suddenly decline? This civilization was Rome. Rome was a Republic for five hundred years, and a Empire for five hundred years. The Roman Empire was considered the biggest empire. The empire conquered 3 million square miles of land and it managed to do this because of it’s stable government and its military. Rome maintained much of its peace from 27 bc to 180 ad and this era is called Pax Romana which essentially, was the golden age of Rome. However, after Pax Romana, Rome declined from 180 ad to 476 ad. During the declination of Rome empire, the Roman empire was divided into an eastern and a western empire and was controlled by 2 emperors; one in the east and one in the west. Rome did this in order for the emperors to share power and to manage between situations such as war effectively. Since Rome was divided into 2 sections, barbaric groups such as goths, started
First, the Roman Empire grew too big, some areas became unstable and attracted many invaders also called Barbarians. The Barbarians all came to Rome and attacked. (Doc.3). As the economic, military, political, and social problems worsened the empire was eventually split into the western and eastern Roman empire, in which only one would live. Diocletian originally split the empire to try to save the western half which was experiencing factors such as a decline in trade and commerce, internal rebellions and loss of territory. Rome, being a plunder economy, was severely weakened by a lack of territorial gain, loss of plunder, and its inability to defend its borders due to imperial overstretch.and its rapid loss of territory. But, as Rome overstretched to northern Europe, it was not able to adequately maintain the empire. It became too difficult to control such a large empire with such diverse needs. As a result, when the empire stopped expanding, it’s plundered resources decreased. This imperial overstretch had numerous, devastating effects on the

He was given the military command, known as Imperium for ten years. This office included the administration of Roman provinces that required the presence of the army. The official name of Octavian became Imperator Caesar Augustus From that time would be known as Augustus, which means “the Exalted”.
