Spring break of my junior year, I attended a leadership camp called RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). My dad was the president of rotary at the time so I pretty much didn’t have an option in going. I wasn’t too excited about spending my spring break at a leadership camp with weirdos I didn’t know. The camp site was up in the mountains of Ojai so we had to leave my house pretty early. My dad had to stop and pick up some kids from my school that were also going. When they got in the car, I was annoyed and tired. Everyone said hi to me and I just looked at them and put my head phones back in and went to sleep. We finally arrive at the camp. My dad’s friend Cliff is the leader of camp RYLA and also Moorpark’s sheriff. Cliff was a homie and could tell that I wasn’t too happy. He helped my dad get my luggage from the car and handed me my stuff. I got out of the car and looked around. The camp was so beautiful. It had the prettiest view. …show more content…
I started seeing kids that were my age and lots of girls and boys. I would say there were about 500 kids attending this camp. The guys were super cute so I was a happy camper. When I kept walking to the field, I noticed a girl sitting by herself on the grass. I walked up to her and introduced myself. Her name was Ellie and she was from San Diego. She was about my height and had the blondest hair and bluest eyes. She was wearing a crop top and a mini skirt. She was pretty much a blonde version of me. I asked her what cabin and group she was in and she said cabin two and in the brown group. My anger just turned to happiness real quick. It was like Ellie and I were made to be best friends. We went down to the field where a camp welcome meeting was held. Cliff explained to us about what the camp meant and all the rules. He finally let everyone go get situated in their cabins. We started walking up this big hill but we were cabin two so we didn’t have to walk that
A JROTC leader needs to be ready to provide guidance, direction, and instruction to their subordinates. They also need to be ready to accept all the responsibilities that come with being a leader. The leader should be responsible, organized, respectful, able to communicate effectively, and able to work with others. I believe these are some of the traits found and needed in a good leader; I’m confident that I am ready to be a JROTC leader.

The family came to pick me up and they acted like they were nice and they loved kids but I was like hahaha….no, they took me to there house and took me up to my room that I was staying in. When I got there, there was another girl in the room and she was asleep. Her name was ashley. I remember that she was the only kid in the house that actually wanted to be my friend.
When I was 14, my best friend, Sammy, invited my other friend, McKelle, and I to Mormon Girl’s Camp with her for an entire week. Both McKelle and I were super excited to go. It

I was in a group called Beta Club. We were all at a camp called Sound To Sea. It was time for the camp fire. Fourth and fifth graders surrounded the growing fire in the pit. My friends and I were standing up on the benches screaming “You can’t ride in my little red wagon”, with everybody repeating that chant back to us. I was so excited to spend time with all my best friends. And trust me you could tell I was excited by the smile on my face. As the chants grew
We stayed in the dorms and were broken up into groups based on age. On the first night I thought I heard crying so I grabbed my roommate and searched for the source. We stopped at the door it was coming from and knocked. A girl from our group had ended up with a single room and was homesick, having never been away from home. I immediately went to our group leader and explained the situation and asked if we could move the girl’s mattress into my room so she didn't have to be alone. The group leader agreed, and for the rest of the camp she slept on her mattress on the floor of our room. At the end of the camp when all the parents came for a last day picnic I remember her parents coming up and thanking me for what I had done. At the time I didn’t think it was a big deal, I did what I thought was right, not realizing how much of an impact my action
Although I am excited and would love to be apart of the Oklahoma Conservation Leadership Academy, funds are an issue. My husband is going through a regirating year at the University of Oklahoma to obtain a nursing degree. I may be able to use my tax refund to use toward half of the tuition but I am afraid the funds will not be available by the scheduled due date on April 1st. If applicable, I would appreciate full funding but I don’t want this to disqualify me from becoming apart of the leadership academy. If unable to receive full funding, I can gather funds for half the tutition, $1,250. I know I am a strong candidate to receive funding because I have worked in multiple industries bringing a diverse perspective to the academy. I have worked
This assignment will show what services are available in early year’s settings and for young people to support positive development. It will show what assessments we carry out within my setting and I will also critically analyse agencies that are available for referrals, transitions and safeguarding for children and young people.
We walked along different roads for a long time, by the time it started to get dark there was a small house surrounded by large fields coming into view. When we got into his house, (I assume it was his) his whole family came around and hugged him, apparently they were worried sick. Then the mother noticed me, she shrieked and rolled up a newspaper to hit me with, but thankfully the little boy stopped her and told her what I’d done. Then she was more than happy to invite me into the family. And I lived there with the nice people from then
The moment my foot touched the foreign soil all eyes were on me and smiles lit up on faces. Only seconds later, the sounds of footsteps could be heard as bodies came tumbling towards me, engulfing me in multiple sets of hugs; it was an unusual feeling. Therefore, I remained rooted to the ground with my arms tucked tight against my body refusing to return the act of affection. Noticing my discomfort, the crowd gradually began to disperse. Then through a cheer introduced me to the rest of the group and vice versa. “Hey, HOBY!” they cheered. To which the other members replied, “Hey, what?” “This is Amy!” cheered the group. “Hello Amy!” they brightly replied. From there I was sent off to get to know my future HOBY family.
The most interesting part about The Red Cross Leadership Development Camp is that it gives me a chance to enhance my leadership skills, meet new people, and present my new ideas to a group of people that share my interests. Also, it is a great opportunity for the high schoolers to gain communication skills and confidence. I love to meet new people and seeing them respond to my ideas is a real thrill, and making that connection is inspiring and exciting to me. I believe this would be a good opportunity for me to interact with other teenagers who have a same common goals as me. I want to learn new things, meet new people, working with people and teaching people new things as I learn hope to gain from LDC camp. It would be a great opportunity

I started doing most of my career research early on in my middle school and high school years. I was lucky enough to be selected among the hundreds of fifth graders and sixth graders that applied to go to the first innovative leadership academy for young women leaders. A middle school in the early 2000’s which was previously Porter Middle School to most austinites, was renovated in summer of 2007 founded and named after the late great female governor of texas Ann Richards. In a summer camp leading up to the grand opening of the school interns from UT had come to the school and engaged all 200 6th graders and incoming 7th graders in multiple surveys. These surveys were given to us early in the mornings every day of the week day. These
