Surprisingly, about 5 million people in the U.S. regularly accept the burden of driving and using gas to get to a gym to run on a repetitious, monotonous machine known as the treadmill. This means these people are neglecting the overall simplicity of running outdoors. Clearly, the majority decides running on a treadmill with valid reasons. However, you will be convinced that the undervalued choice of exercise, outdoor running, is more advantageous than the treadmill. Running on a treadmill and running outdoors are both superb options for exercise to develop cardiovascular strength and endurance. They both involve running which is the most common way to receive a workout. Although treadmills are the new breakthroughs in the fitness industry and are considerably convenient, outdoor running should be the ultimate choice for exercise because of its numerous health benefits and various exercise conditions.
As stated before, the treadmill and

Essentially, outdoor running has more health benefits for each workout. According to Gretchen Reynolds of the New York Times states in her article “The Benefits of Exercising Outdoors,” “In studies comparing the exertion of running on a treadmill and the exertion of running outside, treadmill runners expended less energy to cover the same distance as those striding across the ground outside.” It also has psychological benefits such as boosting self-esteem, state of mind, and reducing stress. Moreover, running outdoors has diverse exercise settings. The terrain and incline of your geographical location positively affects your outdoor workout. In addition, weather conditions such as wind, temperature, and precipitation make your run more rigorous opposed to an indoor climate. All in all, running outdoors obtains a larger number of physical as well as mental benefits and the varying exercise conditions enhances the productivity of each
When running, two feel good chemicals that are ejected into the brain called: Endorphins and Endocannabinoids. These chemicals make you happier and reduce risk of sadness and depression, this is why running is a great way to end a bad day (Fetters). Not only does running have many mind and mood benefits, it also has many other health benefits as well. For example, It's good for a person's muscles, brain, and even heart. The two main muscles that running helps are the core and the legs, and in some cases even knees. ¨A Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise study of nearly 100,000 runners found that runners are half as likely to get knee osteoarthritis than people who walk. Even running a short distance in a longer time frame, gives the same benefits that every runner tends to receive and more than the average walker¨, (Fetters). There are also two psychological benefits as well, one is mood improvement and the other is long-term self esteem improvement. Also, running is a great way to encourage creativity. Some runners have expressed that they get their best ideas when they are on a run (Harkins). There are so many more benefits that you can get from the act of running, including weight loss, immune system boosts, increase in bone mass, increase in lung function and the strengthening of the heart, which ends up reducing the risk of heart

Many schools don't have enough funds to support themselves; therefore they should use their money to fix buildings and to buy new textbooks. According to Amanda Ripley’s article, “It's Time To Scale Back,” maintaining a grass field can cost more than 20,000 dollars (11). Premont Independent School was threaten to close because of money issues so they had to stop the sports teams and by doing this they were able to save 150,000 dollars (10). Schools should stop using their money on sports and start using it on the school. In conclusion schools should save their money for more important things. Although saving money is important, allowing kids to study for a longer time is also crucial for their education. Ripley stated in her article that by
Running has many different aspects of workouts and forms of doing it. Comparisons a lot of people make is that cross country and track are the same thing, but those two sports are entirely different. Both do deal with running, but the differences are very major and they go much as to change the workouts done for the sports. More comparisons that are mostly said that if a runner enjoys long distance running then they also should go out for track since it has long distance events. Even though it has those events it doesn’t change the fact the two are very different.
Why should a grown man be allowed to use the same restroom as a little girl? Well, the answer to that is, simply, there is no evidence that suggests any kind of negative effects on cis-gendered people by allowing transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice. Recently, the store Target has announced that they will allow transgender people to use the bathroom of their choice. While many have supported this, a petition has arisen to boycott Target because of their decision. This petition has gained over one million signatures. Many of those who support it argue that a grown adult male should not be allowed to share a restroom with their daughters, sisters, wives, and mothers. Why? Because it makes the women uncomfortable? Just like it
In the article by Gretchen Reynolds, Gretchen talks about how by just running an hour a day you are adding on seven hours to your life. Running is the best exercise you can do to improve your life expectancy. It doesn’t matter if you are a slow runner or you smoke and drink, you can still add up to three years to your life by taking the time to get outside and run. Research was done to prove this point. A study was conducted at the Cooper Institute in Dallas. Researchers found that even as little as five minutes of running a day could increase your lifespan. Of course running does not make you immortal but it does benefit your health in other ways as well. Running involves many parts of our bodies. The muscles in your
Another study discovered, “exercising in natural environments was associated with greater feelings of revitalisation, increased energy and positive engagement, together with decreases in tension, confusion, anger and depression,” (The Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry). Overall, exercising outside is highly beneficial. If locations for outdoor exercise are not available or are dangerous, like the preserve before the weeds were disposed of, people will be unable to reap the benefits of outdoor exercise.
There are numerous benefits associated with running, but the key is to start slowly. You don't want to overdo it the first week or two and find you injure yourself or you become frustrated as you aren't seeing the desired progress. When you learn how to run, it's an enjoyable activity and one you can do anywhere.
Also other studies have shown that people who exercises regularly are happier, feel more energetic and creative. This study is very true personally; before I was a runner after each run I would feel extremely exhausted. However, the more the body and mind gets used to it, and after a long run in the park you will still have energy for other
This subject was explored within a study involving the rehabilitation of stroke patients and their different performance levels when they walked outside compared to when they walked inside on a treadmill. Although walking outside did provide improvement for patients, it didn’t compare to the improvements to the individuals inside experienced. Those who walked inside on a treadmill showed a positive development within their spatial and temporal gait characteristics that proved to be more effective. Not only did their walking gait patterns improve, but the participants did so at a quicker rate than those outside. Instruments that are located inside a facility such as treadmills and exercise bikes allow for the therapist to control the intensity of the exercise to the individual, making it the session more personalized. Holding therapy sessions inside also eliminates an external factor that the therapist has no control over and that is the weather conditions. In areas that experience heavy rain or snow, they are incapable of performing activities outside and benefit from indoor equipment. But the problem that was addressed earlier does not refer to rehabilitation time or convenience, it pertains to building adherence within pediatric
In 2007 Steven went to an interview for a part-time job, having recently graduated from high school he seeks work experience and believes that he should be able to get a part-time job to develop his skills. Upon entering the interview room with 4 other people, he sees a disappointed gaze by the interviewer. Questions go by and everyone fails to get the job. Steven upset over the whole ordeal questions the interviewer. “I’m sorry, but why exactly did none of us get the job?” asked Steven. “A high school graduates with no experience is not worth the price of 7 dollars an hour.” Replied the interviewer. Later that month Steven walked by the same store and it had closed down.
Whirlwind I, the precursor to modern-day computers, was completed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Servomechanisms Laboratory in 1951 (Tom Rosko). MIT was found on April 10, 1861 by William Barton Rogers, two days before the beginning of Civil War. The first building of MIT was built in 1866 at Boston’s Back Bay,and by the end of the century, the buildings scattered throughout Copley Square. In 1916, all of the MIT moved to Cambridge, except for The School of Architecture which remained in Boston, during a three-day alumni reunion (MIT Libraries). MIT endeavor to “advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century” (MIT About).
Another advantage of treadmills is that they absorb power from the step. Training therefore entails less damage than road running. It helps you to run more efficiently and can be of great benefit to anyone who wants to come back after an injury or people unfamiliar with running.
I live in a small house by myself. I have a small lounge, a small television, a small table… In my lounge room I have a treadmill. I love it. I run on it every morning. While I run, I look out the window. I admire the house across the road, it has a small veranda, the turtle ornament in the garden near the burgundy mailbox is slightly chipped, and the grass always seems to need mowing. I listen to my feet as they slam so consistently on the track, never missing a beat. It’s a marvellous invention, it really is. It catches my steps as I am running towards nowhere. I can run for hours on end, and never have to leave the space of my lounge room.
Running can improve your heart health because it gets blood rushing through your system. Also, you get lots of oxygen running through your body. It can impact your life
