Running For Elected Official
What does it take to be an elected official of the United States? Becoming an elected official that helps run our United States government can be overwhelming: trying to keep everything in order to keep everyone pleased with how everything is functioning in the government. It takes a lot of political courage, and the willingness to go through all of the judgment from society while trying to pursue greatness for the United States. “McCain’s political appeal has been more nonpartisan and less ideological compared to many other national politicians”. Writers mainly wrote about his courage not just in war but in politics. In one article (Vanity Fair) they talk bout his political strategist and his freethinking impulses that led him to be a political star in the first place. They state that John McCain had waded straight into the hottest controversy in South Carolina, not long before his crucial primary showdown with George W. There are many fulfilling careers that would fit accordingly in my life, but politics has never come across my mind. Even though politics and government duties affect my everyday life, I have not pursued that career path thus far. However, what if I were to come across the opportunity to run for either a Texas House Representative member for Senate of Texas? To start off, both positions deal with endless amounts of legislature responsibilities and stress, but I would most likely pursue to be a member of the Texas House of Representatives. The first obvious reason would be the qualifications; one must be 21 years of

“Being a President is like riding a tiger. A man has to keep on riding or he is swallowed.” (Truman) Not only is being a President of the United States important it is also very challenging. Citizen Funded Elections are a practical, proven reform that puts voters in control of democracy, instead of big political donors. Rather than being forced to rely on special interest donors to pay for their campaigns, candidates have the opportunity to raise small donations from their grassroots base to qualify for public funding, which ends their reliance on special interest campaign cash, replacing special interest campaign cash influence in government with the taxpayer's cash.
“The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses” (Malcolm X). In 1797, there was no cameras, television, radio, telephones, or social media. There was not any entertainment value on campaigns the media could potentially exploit, but how could the American citizens formulate opinions on presidential candidates? How did they come to understand about their policies or stances on certain issues? Candidates would write to columns in newspaper or use printing presses to release booklets with their policies and other issues they had to address. They would talk to the public at meetings or conventions. Journalists would write down what they said and wrote a news article about it. The election process in the United States is a valuable process to the election of the proper officials to satisfy the people. The people run the country which is why we live in freedom because we control what happens with major decisions by choosing whom we want to decide these decisions. The whole country goes to vote on a certain day and by the end of that day we will vote to select who will run the country, state, county, or city political positions. The most complex decision and one with the biggest impact are selecting who the President of the United States shall be. We examine what their views are and who would do a better job. Political campaigns are very significant in American politics and elections. It is the period before the electorate makes political decisions in the form of elections. The attention of the citizens towards politics intensifies as the date of the elections draws near. The salience of voters improves as the election date draws near and could manifest in the form of increased media attention.
