As Ernie Harwell once quoted: “It's time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I'd much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure.” This quote sums up the feelings that come to mind as I fill out this application to transfer to Rutgers New Brunswick. My experience so far at Rutgers has taught me a lot about myself, and the people around me. It taught me that I am a part of a bigger picture, and each of us as individuals have a huge impact on the society around us. However, I have come to peace that it is time to move on from the Newark campus and pursue my degree at Rutgers New Brunswick School of Arts and Sciences. New Brunswick would be a more logical option for my studies due to a shorter commute from home, and a better computer science program. …show more content…
The long and arduous commute leaves a significantly large room for error in commuting. One disruption in this cycle creates the possibility of missing a class or even an entire day. New Brunswick however, is considerably closer to my residence. The shorter commute ensures that I will reach my classes on time, and result in a more efficient opportunity for my education based on my location and lifestyle.
I plan to major in computer science. Rutgers New Brunswick is known as one of the best colleges for computer science. For this reason, it is ideal that I attend a university that excels in the program of study that I plan to practice in. Transferring to Rutgers New Brunswick is a vital step in my ultimate goal of excelling in the field of computer science.
New Brunswick has the ideal characteristics that will enable me to have a better future. The curtailed commute, and superior computer science program are among the motivations that make New Brunswick the perfect school for me to transfer to. Transferring to New Brunswick will enable me to have an improved regime during school, and even after school in my
Institutions of higher education often struggle to find strategies that successfully engage students in learning. In the article “Faculty Work, Student Success,” Colleen Flaherty attempts to address this problem by analyzing the benefits that undergraduate research has on students and faculty. However, she points out that faculty have a hard time balancing the demands of focusing on teaching students while keeping up with research, without sacrificing the quality of one or both pursuits. Flaherty uses the College of New Jersey, as an example of an institution that took a risk and did a complete reformation of their curriculum focusing on the teacher-scholar model and undergraduate research (Flaherty, 2014). Since the implementation of the program in 2004, it had benefited both students and faculty alike such as increased retention and recruitment rates and increased student-faculty interactions (Flaherty, 2014). The new curriculum lightened the faculty teaching requirement to three courses a semester than were focused on undergraduate research and scheduled time to pursue their own research while encouraged to include students in that as well (Flaherty, 2014). While this new model has worked well for this university to engage students in learning through an emphasis on undergraduate research and balancing the faculty’s workload by changing their curriculum, this model may just not be feasible for some institutions since they vary greatly in size, focus, and resources, etc.
The final reason why I want to go to Nesbitt is because the curriculum would allow me to take more classes in my planned career field of Algorithmic Trading because of the opportunities to take college classes. I could be taking a class on differential equations in my sophomore year instead of having to wait until my junior year or never being able to take the class at all at my local high school.
Students today are also looking for a school that is convenient for them, both in location and in flexibility of scheduling. Western Governors University offers convenience in both areas. Since it is an online school, the location couldn’t be any more appropriate. It is simply wherever the student has access to the internet and the time to study, whether that is at home, on a break at work, or even on vacation. In addition, there are no set times for classes, so a student can spend just a few minutes or long hours studying the necessary material whenever it is suitable for him or her. What could be more convenient than working at one’s own pace at a location of one’s own choosing?
My reasons for transferring are entirely academic. I have made many good friends at Rutgers, and I have studied with some wonderful professors. However, I am eager to gain a sophisticated understanding of Mathematics as well as Computer Science. An institution excellent in both Math and CS would be a better choice for me.
After extensive research, I came to the conclusion that the University of North Carolina at Greensboro was the best school for me. I am transferring to receive my Bachelor’s degree in Public Health. The University of North Carolina at Greensboro offers an amazing program in Public Health, which is completely online. The Bachelor’s degree in Public Health is a program designed to receive your degree by completing courses at home. I am eager to learn all of the material required for me to be successful in the career of my choice. My ultimate career after receiving the Public Health degree is to become a Medical and Health Services Manager. I hope to achieve this goal and make my family proud. Even though I will not be physically attending the university, I love the diversity of the university and the surrounding area. I have visited the university many times and the people are always nice and helpful. I hope to communicate with classmates via email and become a more sociable person. I promise to work hard and be very successful in all of my
I felt as though I didn’t really love what I was studying, that I wasn’t really connecting with other students who shared my academic interests, and that my options were limited when it came to exploring things I really had an interest in, such as community/public health. I want to transfer to George Mason because of the multicultural campus community, the excellent academic programs, and because of Mason’s ideal location. My uncle, Eugene Koranteng, attended Mason after coming from Ghana to the USA, and made his mark as a triple jump record holder. He told me that he wouldn’t change a thing about his college experience! I also have friends who attend George Mason and share with me new people they’ve met, as well as new cultures they’ve learned about and embraced! Although Mason’s campus is large, George Mason still keeps class sizes small. I have realized in going to CNU that a small campus is great, but when a campus is so small, the people tend to be homogeneous. At Mason, I know that there is so much to do, to learn, as well as, so many different people to
Keeping these credentials in mind, attending Rutgers University will grant me a variety of opportunities as I enter the job market and try to pursue my career in law/politics. With an education from Rutgers, I can keep employers assured that my knowledge was attained from a top of the line school. A Rutgers education will allow me to be competitive with other candidates in the job market and it will be sure to impress employers when they come to learn that I attended Rutgers University. Since Rutgers University prides itself with being academically competitive, receiving an education from this school will be useful for me to attain my desired career as I plan on learning new things and being
I was awed by the services and many opportunities available to students, such as the chance to study abroad or to do an internship. The option of declaring a pre-occupational therapy major through Texas Woman’s University was an extremely attractive quality for me. This option would allow me to take the prerequisites for an occupational therapy degree while simultaneously earning my bachelor’s degree, cutting down on the expenses and time it would take to complete these classes separately. However, my choice to transfer here was solidified after I attended a Transfer Connection at Texas Woman’s University. Learning more about Texas Woman’s University and experiencing the culture of care and thoughtfulness by everyone I met let me know that Texas Woman’s University was right for me. It was at the Transfer Connection that I learned more about my future major, the honors program that is offered, and the different clubs and organizations around campus. I was surrounded by people that wanted to help me succeed and see me eventually become a Texas Woman’s University Pioneer. I walked away from the Transfer Connection with a bag full of information and my decision of where I would transfer to
It is without a doubt, attending Rutgers University brings prestige to your name, and distinguishes you from the competition. With over two hundred and fifty years of rich history, Rutgers has been proudly represented by alumni as they continue into their career paths. Dating back to 1766 when Rutgers was first established, notable Rutgers alumni through the years have ranged from politicians such as Elizabeth Warren or Chris Christie to businessmen like David Stern, or even athletes such as Carli Lloyd. It is without a doubt, that Rutgers provides exceptional education as seen through what these alumni have been able to achieve. It is due to the combination of history and high level of education that I believe will help me achieve my career goals.

A Rutgers education will not only allow me to grow as a college student but as a person overall. Graduating from Rutgers will hold a greater value in the outside world when I apply for jobs as this university has many well-known schools like the Business School or the School or Arts and Sciences. Since Rutgers is well known for their programs, this would allow me to be able to excel in my major of choice and be able to take different classes that would allow for my knowledge to grow more than it would at Rowan University. The classes that Rutgers will offer compared to Rowan would challenge me to work harder and push my limits in order for me to grow and succeed as a person. Having a Rutgers education will help my career goals because while I am there, I will have many opportunities to join clubs and organizations that interest me. Since I plan on
I, Flora Ajayi, was dismissed from the Nursing program at The College of New Jersey due to my performance in Principles of Microbiology (BIO 144) and Anatomy & Physiology II (BIO 142 ), which are major Nursing prerequisites. I take responsibility for my academic progressions and understand the consequences and rewards of the Academic realm. The study habits that allowed me to flourish in high school, for example, studying class notes and reviewing a week before the exam, simply did not work in college. This forced me into a state of panic, which led me not to do well in both science classes. Studying effectively in college is different than studying in high school due to the rigor of the course and my attempt to process on a higher academic level. My inability to succeed in the sciences during my spring semester, despite my early success, has allowed for both personal growth and self-reflection while repeating BIO 144 and BIO 142.
However, I am grateful that I have been able to identify the weak points in my learning efforts so early in my academic career and also been able to implement changes to them. The way in which I study is drastically changing and I have already seen positive improvements because of that. I have reprioritized many times, focusing primarily on my studies, and finally arrived at a balance that works best with my schedule. I have learned to not be reserved and to expose myself to all that is available at this university because some of my best experiences have come from unexpected moments. Overall, I have assured myself that choosing a liberal arts education was the best decision I made because it offers me an infinite amount of opportunities, both intellectually and personally. My goals have been reevaluated after my learning thus far and I am enthusiastic to continue to pursue them throughout the remainder of my time here. Academically, I plan to graduate with a competitive skillset that will set me apart from others in the workforce and also graduate studies. The education I am receiving here is phenomenal and I wish to translate that into my future career. To do so, I strive to be involved inside and outside of the classroom to further my knowledge in all subjects. Through involvement in various organizations, I aim to become more diverse in my abilities. Along with that, I have ambition
Financial troubles are often times a serious barrier in regards to my education. Affording to college has been getting more and more difficult throughout the years and it has been impacting my love for education in a serious way. This is evident due to the fact that I no longer can afford to take classes that I need to be able to graduate on time, along with classes I am going to need in the future to build a more confident resume for graduate school in foreseeable the future. This is why I chose to come to Northern Essex, and I love the experience I have received. I am truly grateful to have made the choice to transfer into Northern Essex, as it is easily the best decision anyone could make. From the connections and reputability NECC has acquired
I want to go to Banneker because I know at Banneker’s community I can fulfill my dream of studying computer science to become a programmer. At Banneker I can find the best academic experience I can have. Banneker’s mission is to develop learning skills not just for high school but also for life. In life I have always fought for my dreams. Ever since I started using computers I thought that instead of just using them, I could create programs for them. Banneker has a unit dedicated to computer science; this will help me to achieve the goal that I have.
