The Japanese Samurai and Medieval Knights are very similar, on many levels. They both have a Code of Conduct, similar training techniques and they both play a vital role in the feudal system. They also have a few differences, their armour and their weapons; when everything is taken into consideration, they are more similar than they are different.

There were many similarities and differences between the Japanese samurais and the medieval knights training, amour and codes of conduct. The medieval knights start training at the age of 7 and roughly finish the age of 21. The Japanese samurais started training at the of 5 and roughly finished at the age of 15. One of the differences between the Japanese samurai and the medieval knights was their armour. One of the similarities between the Samurai and the knight in their roles in the community, Japanese samurais had to “fight in wars, obey and defend the shoguns or their country." Medieval knights had to “fight in wars and be the king's personal weapon.” ( ????) . This shows that in their communities both samurais and knights main role was to protect and defend their leader. Another similarity between the two. The Damiyos would “promise rewards to the samurais with salaries or gifts, including portions of land; in return, the samurais promised to protect there country.” () The knights would pledge “their allegiance and serve the Lord in exchange for accommodation, payment and gifts." These gifts also included land. As you can see that the roles the Japnese samurais played within there community were extremely similar to the roles the medieval knights played in their community.
