Santa Maria ( volcano)
Introduction
Have you ever wondered what Santa Maria looks like? You may be wondering why I am going to talk about a city, but it is not a city, it is a volcano. This volcano is a large and active in the Quetzaltenango Department near the city of Quetzaltenango.
Background According to Oregon State University, it states that “ The first historic eruption of Santa Maria was the second largest volcanic eruption in this century. It was the third large explosive eruption in 1902. Mount Pelee and Soufriere of St. Vincent erupted six months earlier.” It also states that “The 1902 eruption of Santa Maria lasted 19 days.” Latitude: 14.76, Longitude: -91.55, Elevation: 3772, Country: Guatemala, Type: Stratovolcano.
Now, how does the Latino culture play a part of a Latina’s self-esteem? There is this concept, Marianismo, that affects a girl's self-esteem in a good and bad way. Marianismo is the female equivalent of machismo; it is considered to be the realization of the feminine, and characterized by hyper feminine behavior. This could seem bad because it’s basically women accepting their roles, such as, housewives, in the Mexican culture.
Visiting a different island in the Caribbean each summer has always been a family tradition of mine. The first few years never failed to make me fall in love with each and every one of them, but once my family suggested on visiting Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, the eighth year, my thoughts were not so hyped. Going to the same sea each year can get old and boring. When we finally got to Punta Cana, falling in love was too short of a term to describe what I felt for it. As soon as we landed we were greeted with songs and happiness all around. The nobleness lingering in the atmosphere, coconut smell in the air, and architecture went beyond my imagination.
Saint Rose of Lima is the patron saint of beauty due to her remarkable appearance.Rose is an innovation to many, because unlike many people today, she loathed her beauty due to being too alluring. I chose Saint Rose because she didn’t like people being tempted by her or staring at her. Rose only wanted to satisfy her parents and God. I also chose this saint because throughout her early life, she did things people normally would not contemplate or endeavour. Her feast day is on August 23th on the modern calendar, and in some countries it is on August 30th.
I agree that Texas did do the right thing in allowing Santa Anna his freedom. Santa Anna was over confident because of the relatively easy successes he had enjoyed at the Alamo and Goliad missions where he had vast superiority in manpower and cannons, which he failed to take into account the strategy that Sam Houston put into play. After capturing Santa Anna, to obtain his release, Santa Anna had to sign two treaties, recognizing Texas independence and promising never to fight Texas again. By releasing Santa Anna after he guaranteed Texas independence, the Texans knew that trouble in Mexico would arise for him. The defeat at San Jacinto and the subsequent loss of Texas cost Santa Anna the presidency, for he returned to Mexico in disgrace. If

Today, most people in the United States rely on cars, or even planes to deliver our purchased merchandise, expecting them in a day or a week at the latest. It seems like second nature to take a trip to the nearest store to acquire the essentials, such as food and water, and even purchase luxury goods without a second thought. Even so, most of us do not consider how challenging it must have been for the first inhabitants of our land to receive goods, especially if they wished to receive it quickly. While wagons and dirt trails seem outdated and sluggish today, our modern system of transporting goods began here, with oxen lugging the wooden vehicles hundreds of miles. The settlers would travel across countries, continents, or even oceans to obtain

Prior to 1821, the land beyond Missouri was an uncharted region known only to buffalo and displaced Native Americans. When Mexicans won independence from Spain in 1821, they encouraged trade with the United States via New Mexico. Lack of water and hostile Native Americans made the trip dangerous, but William Becknell, “Father of the Santa Fe Trail,” left Missouri that year to arrive in Santa Fe a month-and-a-half later. After a large profit, Becknell continued to make trips, blazing the path that became known as the Santa Fe Trail. Soon, traders, visitors, and the military would regularly travel the route.
Also referred to as the “Queen of the Missions,” it became a major social and cultural center. It is the largest of all the missions and is regarded as one of the most beautiful, as depicted in the distinctive architecture of its church and lush fields and pastures.
In July 1598, Juan de Oñate established a settlement in New Mexico at San Juan Pueblo at La Villa de San Gabriel (now known as Ohkay Owingeh since 2005 when it was restored to its pre-Spanish name). Oñate not only extended the Camino Real by more than 600 miles, he also established the northern most settlement of the Spanish empire. La Villa de San Gabriel was located more than 750 miles from any Spanish speaking villages in Mexico. The remote location of the settlement, along with the fact that supply trains were sent to La Villa de San Gabriel only every one to three years, led to the evolution of a Spanish dialect unlike those in the rest of the Americas. New Mexico Spanish, also called Traditional Spanish by some linguists, has deep

Santa María is a stratovolcano that is a towering 12,375 feet in the southwestern Guatemalan volcanic highlands. The oval-shaped crater extends from just below the summit of Santa Maria to the lower flank and was formed during a catastrophic eruption in 1902. The devastating 1902 eruption of Santa Maria lasted 19 days and produced 1.3 cubic miles of pyroclastic debris, and the eruption immediately perished 5,000 people. Eruptive history of Santa Maria is thought to have begun about 30,000 years
The most recent major eruption came from the volcano Calbuco. Situated between the Nazaca and South American plate this Chilean volcano erupted twice in April of 2015 without little warning. The first eruption sent vast amounts of smoke at least fifteen kilometers above the volcano. Which “led the Chilean Emergency Management Agency and the Chilean Geology and Mining Service (SERNAGEOMIN) to order evacuations within a 20-kilometer (12 mile) radius around the volcano.” There were about 1,500 to 2,000 people evacuated, and thankfully there had been no reports of missing people, injury or death. The second eruption began at 6:04 PM, and gave more to talk about as it started a fiery pyroclastic explosion. Red hot rocks and ash spewed vigorously
Mt St Helen and Mt Vesuvius are both volcanoes. They erupted some time ago. Vesuvius erupted on 24 August 79 A.D. Mt St Helen erupted May 18, 1980. From the year 2017, Mt St Helen erupted only 37 years ago. “The eruption which removed the upper 1,300 ft of summit left a horseshoe-shaped crater and a barren wasteland.” Says Livescience
The eruption happened on May eighteenth, 1980 at eight thirty-two in the morning. It was recorded to be the largest volcanic eruption in North American history. Millions of tons of earth were shot 65,000 feet into the air and surrounding areas. A new vent had been opened in the side of the mountain, and steam and ash were all that had been released from the vent. Smaller earthquakes and eruptions had occurred moments before the massive eruption. The eruption sent ash far in every direction, covering streets, houses, businesses, schools, and much more.
