In a board game, a player can go forward two steps yet find themselves going back three steps. This is what Sarah Koenig has to deal with, in the podcast, Serial that she produces. Every time that she gets a lead there’s always something that does not fit, pushing her back to the beginning. Sarah is trying to discover what really happened with the murder of Hae; however, there is an abundance of theories of what people think happened. The main one being that Adnan killed Hae, and this is what the court’s final theory was. That is not true since, Jay killed Hae Min Lee and Adnan was an accomplice on January 13th, 1999. No one can truly be trusted on Serial because of that it makes it harder to see who would be the most untrustworthy. However, …show more content…
Adnan and Sarah are talking about the night of Hae’s murder and Adnan tells Sarah that “... the craziest thing is to be high and have a police call your phone.I’ll never forget”(67). Adnan clearly states many times before this that he does not remember the day that Hae was killed and that it was just a normal day. Later on, he then stated how he can never forget how the cops called him, but then all the other times he said he cannot remember anything unusual about that day. Adnan had lied because he does remember that day since he clearly said that he can never forget that phone call. Another time is when Adnan told Officer Adcock that he asked Hae for a ride, but later on he told a different cop that he did not ask her for a ride. This is crucial since that was the 21 minutes that Hae was strangled in. Not only is he untrustworthy but so is Jay. During one interview they are discussing the location of the body and Sarah states, “Jay is saying I figured there were security cameras at Best Buy so that’s why I lied-because I didn’t want to be associated with it”(30). Being shown a dead body somewhere is unforgettable. Jay had known the truth about being shown the body at Best Buy, yet he still decided to lie even though that only …show more content…
However, there is someone else who should be serving more time, Jay. Jay tells the police that he was associated with the murder except that he was doing it unwillingly. When interviewing Jay about the burial of Hae the detective said, “‘You helped him dig the hole,’ Jay says, ‘Yes’’’(8). In this, Jay admits that he helped Jay bury the body. Then, why is Adnan the only one serving time? The police did not put him in jail because Jay helped provide information. Before this, Jay knew that he was going to be let off the hook as long as he helped the police, and this was all part of his plan. Not only did Jay help bury the body, but as mentioned before, Jay brutally strangled a girl to her death. Yet, he is out testifying against someone who not only did not commit the crime but he was supposed to work together with. Adnan was so furious about this that at court this was said by the judge, “I was just informed by my Sheriff that the Defendant made a comment to the witness approached the stand indicating that he was pathetic”(45). Adnan was so filled with anger about Jay was supposed to be his partner, and how on top of that he did not even kill Hae. Adnan shows his true colors here. Even though Jay murdered Hae, Adnan was the one to come up with the idea and plan to kill her. Just because he did not kill Hae that should not mean that he should be walking free. They should serve around equal
Firstly, the Nisha call placed Adnan with Jay after the murder. This call could have been a butt-dial that rang for 2 minutes. The call could have been from Adnan, who wanted to make Jay talk with Nisha. The Nisha call does not prove Adnan killed Hae, as it simply just puts him with Jay at the time. Also, the prosecution stated that Adnan was constantly doing bad things. Everyone does bad things, but it does not make them murderers. Finally, Jay knew the location of Hae’s car. The fact that Jay knew the location of Hae’s car should arouse suspicion on him. The evidence utilized by the prosecution is circumstantial and can be disproved, and the lack of strong evidence proves Adnan’s
A main point of interest and something that Jay was incredibly inconsistent with, was the location where Adnan supposedly showed Jay the body. In his first interview Jay told the police that Adnan showed him Hae’s body at Edmondson Avenue. However, second interview he said that he saw the body in the Best Buy parking lot. If you were in this position, would you forget the place you saw a dead body? Another detail he repeatedly changed was when Adnan told Jay that he was going to kill Hae. The day changes from the day of the murder to 3 or 4 days earlier. In fact, just about the only consistent event that occurs in all of Jays different retellings of the day Hae was murdered was the ‘come and get me’ call from
Most people don’t think adnan is guilty since there isn’t enough evidence . When you start to look at all the evidence and all the stories that were told it all truly comes back onto adnan. Adnan is guilty for the crime he did because he can’t recall where he was on current day, every speech he has given it falls back on him, and most of all adnan is in every evidence that anyone gives.
Adnan Syed was a golden boy to people; he was smart and loved by everyone. He never thought he’d be convicted of his ex-girlfriend’s murder, neither did anyone else. In fact, when he first received a call from the cops regarding Hae’s disappearance he brushed it off, more scared at that fact that he was high on marijuana and talking to a police officer. He thought Hae had just ran off to California, just like everyone else. However, when they found her body in a park notorious for being a body dump his whole world turned upside down. Soon after this a friend of his, Jay, confessed to the police into helping Adnan with Hae’s murder which then put Adnan behind bars. However, was Jay’s testimony true? Unfortunately Adnan’s case has many flaws and lies to it, and the true answer still remains; is Adnan Syed actually innocent or guilty all along?
Proving whether or not someone is innocent or guilty is a difficult task. That's why we rely on court hearings, lawyers, judges and unbiased jury members to help decide whether a person is guilty or innocent of crime. In the court of law, Every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. On January 13th, 1999, Adnan Syed supposedly murdered his 18 year old ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee by manual strangulation. Hae Min Lee’s body was found in Leakin Park located in Baltimore City Maryland. On February 25, 2000 Adnan Syed was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years, for the murder of Hae Min Lee. During the trial, Jay Wilds testimony became the sole focus of the investigation and eventually the conviction. 15 years later, extensive
Think about how often people get arrested and how often trials are held every year, let alone every day. Oftentimes, innocent people are accused and charged for a crime that wasn’t their fault. This was the case for Adnan Syed, an innocent guy who was put in jail for a murder case. On January 13, 1999, Hae Min Lee was murdered at the age of 17. The evidence in this case was very unexplainable, but of course, the state went after Hae’s ex-boyfriend Adnan who really had nothing to do with the murder. Things that prove Adnan’s innocence are the breakup between him and Hae, how Adnan thought about and his feelings towards Hae, how the times and stories told with others didn’t suit well, and his alibi. Additionally, his DNA didn’t match with items
him in this trial. Does he deserve another chance or a different sentencing phase? The answer
Although i believe Adnan is innocent some people may think he is guilty because his palm print was on a map book. Some people may argue that he committed the crime, this reason is why people think he did it that he was mapping were to bury the body. They were looking all around the park for clues and found the map. But i think this source is not that reliable because they could not tell if this map was 6 weeks old or six months old the palm print.no one knows he could of went there a bunch of times it is still a public park.he could of went there along time ago just to visit and might of threw the map away without even knowing.
On a cool October night in South Carolina, Susan Smith strapped her two sons to the
First, Adnan did not get a fair trial because Jay lied during his trial.,the phone record prove nothing and Neither do the letters.Jay lied during his trail because, in episode
Some people believed that it really was Adnan that committed the murder of Hae, but some of the information that is used against adnan just doesn't match up, but not many things that came from Jay seemed to be very true. Jay jay committed the murder of Hae Min Lee because he changed his story the second time he got interviewed, he told false information about his timing, and he lied about knowing where Hae's car was after the murder was committed.

A wooden floored room is filed with people, some sitting in organized rows of seats, others standing/walking around. The front of the room shows two men sitting down in black suits They are a detective and a police officer. As they converse an Asian woman (Mrs. Packard) walks into the room and is regarded as beautiful by one of the men at the front of the room. The mayor attempts to speak, but the microphone is shortly handed over to the detective instead. The detective informs the people in the room of the potential danger the town faces. He makes note of the connection of Laura Palmer’s murder to the deaths
OK Mr. and or Mrs. Killer. I've got a good theory so you better listen closely because I'm only going to tell it once. This is how I believe you killed Kai.
Watching Sarah emerge from the guest bedroom with a stack of bedding and an extra-large pair of dark gray pajamas made Michael lean back in his seat, feeling right at home. With her hair pulled up into a bouncy ponytail, she appeared five years younger and very innocent. How she had learned so quickly to accept the unacceptable, he didn't know. In just a few short hours, a series of strange events had drastically changed her life forever, moreover, he felt guilty, knowing that he was partly to blame.
