I believe that school should be more flexible, and lenient. Most of the times people end up failing classes, because of the lack of attention span, and the restlessness of the body. Most adolescent kids like to play outside and are full of nervous energy. If we are allowed more time outside, or more time during the passing periods we are easily able to understand what we are given. Many schools utilize this knowledge in elementary school while giving a lot of recess times to the young kids. While core classes are heading towards the end of the day kids grades get worse, by not being able to focus on their work. Most of the time kids have to brood about extracurricular activities, and all the work is getting piled upon us. We get little sleep
School basically makes your future. Which is why if there are more school days, it can help children understand, and learn new things. This can help make kids who are having a hard
I believe that Polk County Early College High School would be a great school for me because of smaller class sizes and more one on one opportunity with teachers. I feel that I thrive in that kind of setting because you can feel free to ask for help if needed, and it will be provided much more easily than in a larger class room. I also love the opportunity that the school provides to be able to earn college credits while attending high school. I am a very self motivated person and being able to complete work at my own pace would be significant. If I am working at my own pace I will be given the chance to work ahead and cover more material which is great. I think Polk County Early College would be the perfect school for me because I would be
Early College High School at Delaware State University is a place to save time and money, and earn up to at least 60 college credits in high school. If I were to describe ECHS in one sentence, I would say that they move very quickly, but are very helpful. Although this school is very helpful there is a downfall, that downfall is that they are unorganized. One thing that made my 9th grade year here at The Early College High School at Delaware State University more smoothly was that some of my teachers had a sense of humor which made the environment feel a lot more positive and it made me feel comfortable that this school isn’t severely strict. The components of College Readiness at the Early College High School at Delaware State University
Attending Cross Creek Early College High School is interesting to me because I will be able to complete high school and some college courses at the same time. I have always dreamed of going to college and this is school will allow me to get a head start on my goals and ambitions. My goal is to be the first person in my family to attend and graduate from college with a bachelor’s degree. Here you need to explain your career goal or what you want to major in. It is my belief that Cross Creek Early College will provide me with the support to reach this goal and to let my other family members know that a college degree will allow me to be a productive citizen.
Sophomore year had ended, and my summer had just begun. After a long wait to gain permission to go on a backpacking trip. My father gave me the approval. I took my love for the outdoors and began to explore it even more.
Students should have to come in before or after school. . Some people need to learn to turn things in and stop being treated like a baby. Students need to learn to be responsible. Students should learn to get their work done in class or on their own time.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to receive an extra hour of sleep each morning, to swap school start times with your younger sibling? It would be nice to gain an extra hour of rest, but late start school is an unnecessary luxury. We do not need to start school later and it would be difficult to change our system that currently functions perfectly. Starting school later will cause complications in our schedules, for buses, and for after school activities.
It was the end of the 1st semester of my sophomore year and I was discussing classes with my counselor, the fact that I was joining AVID I knew in that moment I realized that I had to take school more seriously. College is just around the corner, I knew that I needed to make a change and be more responsible in my life. When my counselor told me in order to be in the program you have to maintain a good GPA. It helps that I've always had decent grades throughout my life in school so that wasn’t a problem.
By the cool crisp air, everyone can tell what time of year it is and that their wardrobe needs to be modified from tank tops and shorts to sweaters and jeans. College students are looking forward to the breaks that it holds while elementary to high school students are begging for another month of summer for going to the beach and vacations. Although they are complaining now, when the days start to cool down and the workload lightens they will be out having a blast with friends once again.
In a recent survey 97% of students done at Yucaipa High said that school should start after 8:00am.For this reason school should start at 8:40 am,this will cause less car accidents, students stress will decrease, and grades overall will increase. If school started later students will have an extra hour to prepare for their day.
Restraint is defined as a restraining force or influence or a device that restricts movement. The use of physical restraint has been applied to children with emotional disturbance since the 1950s, and it was included in a list of "techniques for the antiseptic manipulation of surface behavior" compiled by Redl and Wineman during this period ("Physical Restraint in School," n.d.). Restraint was common in society during this period, a child with a disability were hidden and not associated as a part of the world. Restraint in school is still often associated with violence however, schools are starting to train staff to be better prepared to isolate situations before restraint is needed. Restraint is to be used in times when a child is a danger
I agree with this guy, he has good points. I feel that school is too standardized. We show up every single day at the same exact time and do the same thing for 6hr straight, 7 days a week. It gets boring after awhile. I think that if we mix things up like have different classes different days. I also feel that we start too early. If we start later I feel like students would be better rested, more awake and have more of a sense of what is going on. I believe that if we start later teachers would see better test scores, more active learning, and more alertness from the students. Personally, the first 2 periods are the worst. They drag on and honestly I could say I do not really pay attention in those 2 classes because I am so tired. If we push
According to The National Sleep Foundation more teens die from falling asleep at the wheel than any other accidents in the world. One day Jimmy woke up to a alarm going off early in the morning to go to school and after he got ready to leave he jumped into his truck turn the ignition and drove out of the driveway. When he turn onto a busy road he was driving 50 mph. He was driving for 10 minutes and he had fallen asleep, bang, bam, crash. When the ambulance found him he was in the ditch and a boulder had smashed the whole truck. Starting school later could save lives, education, and health problems
School is a place where lots of people are at for around seven hours a day, five days a week. Being at school for so long, you need certain things to make it more enjoyable. I think that our school needs to have more elective choices, like technology class, writing class, business class, and maybe even extra gym class.
School is also coercive, disciplinary and taught by many unmotivated teachers, so school being mandatory is just icing on the cake. Teachers and the school system completely control the way things are run and leave little room for students to do things their way. Teachers control what they teach, how to teach, how to discipline, what is assigned, etc. Students need to have more of a say in the way things are run since they are the majority. More freedom in decisions would create a more comfortable environment and students would thus have an easier time learning. There is also stress on a lack of communication since school is coercive. It is hard to reach a person if one doesn?t have a relationship with that person, and one way to deal with this is through addressing the students to hear their ideas and views on what direction should be taken. School is very similar to an oligarchy where the faculty is the monarch and students are the populous. It should be more of a democracy where all the students have a say in what happens, but how often is there a vote as to class and school decisions? The current curriculum is one in which a teacher says ?jump? and a student responds with ?how high.? And if a student responds with anything different, than they are reprimanded or punished.
