(Acts 10:19-20) The church of Antioch, as they ministered to the Lord and fasted, was collectively informed by the Holy Spirit that he had called Barnabas and Saul for a special evangelistic mission and that the saints were to separate them for that purpose. (Acts 13:2) Joseph was instructed by an angel to keep Mary as his wife, even though she was pregnant from someone else. (Matthew 1:20) Each of these were instances of righteous men, diligently seeking the will of God in his word, and in Godly counsel and wisdom. In each case, believers were instructed in matters beyond the scope of this level of revelation and God moved especially to give them direction as they needed it.
This waiting on the Lord is a matter of continuity, something that one is regularly doing without extended interruption or lapse. "Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually." (Hosea 12:6) It is not a seasonal, sporadic, or spasmodic thing, neither is it unique. Waiting on the Lord is to be as embedded in the life as
“The apostle Paul could be similarly indirect. Instead of hitting the Athenians head-on with their idolatry, he first engaged them on a point of common interest and moved gradually into the good news of the one true God.”

Though the world has advanced in science, technology, and cultural advances through literature, music, and philosophy, some bad have lasted throughout the centuries. Violence and addiction are still present in today’s society. Whether in the area of what was labelled “Chi-raq”, where gang violence is reaching highs in homicides, or across the country, where unemployment and job insecurity have made suicides and drug abuse among white middle age men the highest it has ever been. Despite being what could be called modern problems, the Bible has many verses that could help or give spiritual advice to these people struggling in the world today.
Textual-“The Faith, in that wild frontier, is like a buried treasure; they guard it, but they do not know how to use it to their soul’s salvation. A word, a prayer, a service, is all that is needed to set free these souls in bondage. I confess I am covetous of that mission. I desire to be the man who restores these lost children to God.” (p. 207).
In Euthyphro by Plato, Socrates and Euthyphro discuss the ethics involved in putting his own father on trial for murder. Through this, they discuss the idea of ethics combined with the divine. They ponder what exactly makes an idea or practice pious, whether it be that the idea itself was already pious or only pious because the gods liked it. One quote that caught my interest was when they are discussing what is pious versus what is just. Socrates ponders, “Is it ‘where just is, there too is pious’?
Bible Memory: It is important to keep God’s word close to your heart, you grow closer to Christ and become armed with a means to protect yourself from the devil’s schemes
To articulate my theological view of scripture, I will address Scripture as broken yet beautiful, then express how I read and interpret sacred texts, given the need to understand the author’s intent, the historical context, and a Christocentric hermeneutic. This will be followed by the aim of reading scripture, which is not simply for orthodox doctrine, but for right living. Although Scripture is primary, it is not the only way God speaks to humanity, thus I will address the Spirit, tradition, creation, and experience as other sources of insight. Despite this integrated approach to scripture and theology, it is not foolproof or necessarily correct. Therefore, I will end this section with a discussion of knowledge and how we understand truth, grounded in the epistemological paradigm of practical
“We’re not meant to disregard others and their stories and simply live these lives unto ourselves”(Rev.
The idea of a life without opposition is a fantasy to all humanity. We inquire on different method to elude our opposition, rather than equipping ourselves with practical solutions to withstand the oppositions. Satan has worked overtime to victimize the church into believing that we have no control over our mind, our actions, and our outcome. We are convinced that all opposition is bad or conjured by the enemy, when in reality many of our opposition is self-inflicted or sometime just out of our control. The armor of God is our only answer to our victory over spiritual warfare. The truth of God’s word holds up our spiritual armor together. We need to trust that the one who is truth, and the truth of his word in order to put on the loin belt of truth. Every part of the armor reflect members of our body that needs protection our mind, heart, our direction, our physical health and that is just scratching the surface of the enemy target. “You have forfeited your victory by rejecting the most important piece of weaponry of all: the Word of God” Rick Renner. Through the armor of God, comes the attributes of God that alter our attitude and self-reflection. Furthermore, the information provided through the course of this reading was not only familiar but also expounded on a deeper level of what it mean to wear the armor of God, the responsibility in maintaining the armor of God, and the power of the armor of God as we summit our flesh and mind to the Holy Spirit.
The history of how the Bible came into existence has been explored for centuries and is an active area of study today. There are many facets to the Bible and each has its own set of unique characteristics and teachings. The Old Testament is considered a contemporary guide for daily living, even though it was composed hundreds of years ago. Where did the Old Testament come from? What are some of the influences that shaped the Old Testament? What are the significant events of the Old Testament? In order to gain a better understanding of the Old Testament and its message to Christians, special consideration is given to its historical and cultural context, and to the major milestones in its development. Personal application of the teachings offered in this section of the Bible should be the aspiration of all Christians today.

In doing so, we can discover that final authority is not in and of scripture itself but of the Triune God who is the Author of scripture. The second obstacle to consider is that many have dismissed scripture as a book of Israelitic & Christian stories. Wright contends that these stories are told to inform us of “internal dynamics” of the past so as to engage us in the present for transformation into Christ-likeness. (p.25). Thirdly, Wright asserts that the question of scripture’s authority should not be viewed as a list of rules where God condescends to man. Rather, scripture should be received as God’s purpose to save and renew the entire world by authorizing the church—God’s agent in the world—with His mission through the work of the Holy Spirit. Thus, it is imperative that biblical scholars “see the role of scripture not simply as being [informative about or revelatory of God’s truth] but as a means of God’s action in and through us.” (p.28)

12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Since one of the characteristics of God is that He is unchanging, there are theological truths He provides us in Scripture that transcend time and different cultures. We need to understand these theological principles when considering how to live them out today. We also need to evaluate a principle in a passage of Scripture to the rest of the
