Sea Ray Marketing Plan
Executive Summary
The boating industry has suffered serious revenue losses since the 2008 downturn in the economy. Our strategy for Sea Ray of Knoxville minimizes risk yet strengthens and refines the current marketing campaign. The company sells four product lines which include Sport Boats, Sport Cruisers, Sport Yachts, and Yachts. Now that momentum is gone; however, sport boat manufacturers are optimistic about the next ten years. A tidal wave of retiring baby boomers could offer substantial new buyers when the economy rebounds. The boating industry in general forecasts better days ahead. D. Long Term Industry Outlook
There is a bright future for the sport boat industry; the market as a whole is expected to grow in the near future. In 2006 the sport boat market had a total value of $6.9 billion; that value has climbed by 9.3% each year, and that trend is expected to continue for the next 3 years. This means that the sport boat market will be worth $10.1 billion by 2014. This industry rebound is dependent upon the recovery of the market and a general change in attitude of banks to lend more money for boat purchases. In addition to this overall market growth and economic recovery, we can expect sport boat sales to increase due to an increase in the number of boat purchasers. As the baby-boomers reach retirement age, the number of boats sold can be expected to increase causing the overall market to increase at a rate greater than the expected 9.3%. With this explosion in the sport boat market, positive economic activity, and the increased willingness of banks to grant loans, it is expected that the sport boat market will expand beyond all future expectations.4

The industry is in the sinking market as sales are declining for the last two years. Gilcrist must avoid re-establishing the company in a sinking market, but to make innovation and change. She should invest her marketing budget into the power boat segment of the industry and expand the company or even move the company to a different location. The challenge for Gilcrist will be to stimulate employee creativity and tolerance for change due to her new directorship as president.
The American economy took a turn for the worst in 2007. Known as the “Great Recession,” the American economic recession entered into a recession in December 2007. The recession came after a large expansion in housing construction, home prices, and housing credit which began in the 1990s (Weinberg, 2013). The recession was large enough to impact all aspects of the American economy. The United States’ GDP dropped by 4.3% and the unemployment rate rose to 10% (Weinberg, 2013). Like most industries during the “Great Recession,” the sport business industry was affected. However, the effects on the sport business industry are far less severe than the effects on the other industries.

Since beginning 40 years ago, Pleasure Craft INC. has been successful in both the domestic and international marketplace. Currently producing two products, snowmobiles and personal watercraft, both of which have become mature markets and thus giving little room to grow, two options have been determined to further the growth of Pleasure Craft INC.. First being to start production on outboard motors. This option allows Pleasure Craft INC. to remain in a familiar market, utilizing current contacts and sales tactics. The second option draws upon Pleasure Craft INC.’s experience with small
“Can you imagine being in a small concrete enclosure for your life when you’re used to swimming 100 miles a day?” This is how captive dolphins live everyday, their natural habitat is swimming miles and miles in the ocean. When they get captured their lives change for the worse. In the past decade Seaworld and captive animals has been a controversial subject. Many people believe the keeping orca whales captive is damaging to the animal and affects them in a negative way. Others believe Seaworld is used to rescue animals and save them. The treatment of animals in captivity is cruel and should be stopped. Keeping animals captive is an appalling punishment.
Animal captivity acts as a broad way for the public to view and enjoy wild species. However, “it transforms helpless, harmless animals into aggressive, agitated monsters” (4). “Wild animals should never be kept in captivity- especially not at SeaWorld Parks” (7), and little did you know that kept Animals in captivity are deprived of their loved ones, their freedom, and their personal will to carry on, which lead to them becoming highly aggressive. The conditions in captivity are horrifying and disgusting. The animals have to have a better place to live in so that they will have the capability of striving. Why do you think so many species are in danger of going extinct? Many believe that SeaWorld is a family-friendly incorporation and an
To begin with, if I was currently an advocate for the environment and animals I would first focus on the Orcas, or killer whales, at theme parks, specifically Sea World. First of all, Sea World is inhumane. Five of the Orcas currently at sea world were “whale-napped” from the oceans they called home. For example, Tilikum, one of the most know whales in the Sea World franchise, is now thirty-two years old. He was captured at the age of two by, which means he has been in captivity for thirty years. And, before anyone says Tilikum was injured so they “rescued” him I want to say that it is fact that Tilikum was not injured. He was taken from his family and confined to a tiny tank just so people could make a hefty profit. Also, if the Orcas are
An average of 30,000 people visit SeaWorld Parks in the United States yearly, however, many of the visitors are unaware of the secrets the parks hide right in front of their eyes. SeaWorld is a popular theme park and marine zoological park with locations in Florida, Texas, and California. They host hundreds of types of marine life and their most popular being their orca whales. Only, these whales, dolphins, and other animals face many challenges in the captivity of the parks. Many of the original animals were taken from their natural home just to become another one of the parks’ pet fish. The whales, dolphins, walruses, and other animals are forced to breed and they become sick and injured too easily in their artificial habitat causing them to die earlier than they inherently should. They, also, pose a threat to the staff and trainers of the park during training and shows. So, the world needs to ban together to condemn Seaworld parks and their dangerous habits across the globe.
SeaWorld. We’ve all heard of it. First the spectacular shows and mesmerising performances of marine animal and men. Then the truth; years later. The torture of animals and the small confinement that these animals have been forced to live in, Orcas that were “...confined to a tank containing 0.0001 percent of the quantity of water that he would traverse in a single day in nature.” High death rates and big behavioural changes in the animals that have never been seen in the wild. Several that have caused death of other animals and humans.
This last vessel was originally built in 1974, but at that time it belonged to “Incan Marine LTD). There are three more barges that are currently still in use and working well and those are the barge pusher tug, (Seaspan Challenger/Coastal Spirit, Arctic Hooper/Fraser Link, and the Sea-link Pusher/Vanisle Link).
SeaWorld rescues and saves over 27,000 sea animals each year. That is a lot of sea animals that are given a second chance at life. What do you think would happen if SeaWorld was not allowed to help these animals and take them in? They wouldn’t be saved and would die a suffery death. Sea animals should be allowed to be held in aquariums and marine parks (captivity).
SeaWorld was founded in March 21, 1964 by four graduates of the University of California, Los Angeles. Although their original idea of an underwater restaurant was not feasible at the time, the idea was expanded into a 22-acre (8.9 ha) marine zoological park along the shore of Mission Bay in San Diego. After an investment of about $1.5 million, the park opened with 45 employees, several dolphins, sea lions, and two seawater aquariums, and hosted more than 400,000 visitors in its first year of operation.[5]
Offering an old boat can wind up being a to a great degree loaded undertaking. Setting repeated advancements, noticing phone calls, diverting inescapable buyers and haggling over the expense with different buyers can take its toll on your comfort and time. A better thought would be than donate your boat to a valuable affiliation. A showing of compassionate soul, a trouble free get and an extensive evaluation determination are a rate of the points of interest that you will assemble as a delayed consequence of this blessing.

* Rita Sanchez expressed that with the $63 million invested in the six new fishing vessels, there is no way that they’re going to sit idle and inventory will only continue to grow. She refuted Hargrove expressing the surplus of inventory are sunk costs and that it would be better to sell them at a loss than for nothing.
