Angelica learning experience demonstrates her becoming more independent. In her weekly observations it shows her being able to hold a spoon to try and feed herself. Angelica is exploring and discovering new things in her surroundings and wants to walk on her own. Angelica’s learning experience is good as she is able to explore her surroundings while making new discoveries. According to NAEYC (2009) Angelica’s learning experience is aligned with DAP birth through age 3 where infants are eager to explore their surroundings. The teacher or caregiver can now find materials for Angelica to explore with such as a spoon and bowl to play with. These actions help determine the best practice when it comes to infants and toddlers.

Every child is a unique child, and all children are at diverse stages in their development, henceforth they all have their own individual needs. There are numerous advantages for children when their individual needs are met. Children turn out to be a greater amount of a compelling and self-coordinated learner, as they are enhanced in their gifts and capabilities. They are given support to help progression and to reach goals in learning and development to meet the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance.
Setting : Observation took place in a classroom of Richmond Preschool . There were 18 children who are 4 years old, 3 ECE teachers and 1 volunteer during this observation.

As a Learning Assistant, working in Year 3, I worked closely with a seven year old girl who, for the purpose of this case study, I will call Jane. Charlie builds the relationships with his educators in the Nursery room. He likes to join his educators and friends in the activities that he is interested in. He sits side-by-side his friends, enjoys the good times together such as singing a song, moving along the music and looking at the animal pictures and naming them. He especially loves to look at the pictures in the books and listen to his educator names each picture. He often pulls on his educator's arm and leads her to the book corner to read a book to him as to initiate and communicate his needs to his trusted educator (EYLF 1.1). He confidently makes his own choices in play and exploration of his surroundings. He is often seen exploring something in one corner of the room and loves to share his discoveries with his educator by getting her attention and pointing to what he finds, such as new toys or books in the corner, bird and airplane in the sky.
For Life-Span Development class, on February 13, 2017, the class had the opportunity to observer the physical, cognitive and social development. In this observation the class Riley, a five month old, female toddler. As a class at the Dordt College, gave the class the opportunity to live observe in the child with the infant’s parent consent.
I begin observing Faith Sanchez a six-year-old, who is in the first grade at Emerson Elementary School on November 7, 2017 over the course of three days. The observation took place at the child’s home, where we had access to the materials needed for the different set of skills that I would be conducting during the observational period. The reason for observing Faith was to see if her Physical, Cognitive and Psychosocial domains are developing at the average range for a school age child or if she was showing signs of atypical development.

Olive has exemplary biological development. She is physically independent, and can run, jump, and balance well, shown through dance (Zastrow and Kirst-Ashman, 2010). Olive actively engages in play but also refines her motor skills by pushing a tire around. Olive has a plethora of dolls and toys in her room, and also has a variety of dress-up items, showcasing her strength in play. She is very independent emotionally, not reacting negatively to the criticisms of the audience during her routine (Zastrow and Kirst-Ashman, 2010). Olive is also self-sufficient. Olive’s social skills are becoming more profound as she orders her own meals at restaurants.
In this assignment I am going to describe a child observation that I have done in a nursery for twenty minutes in a play setting. I will explain the strengths and weaknesses of naturalistic observation through the key developmental milestones based in Mary Sheridan (2005) check-list and provide a theoretical explanation to support the naturalistic observation.
This observation took place September 26, 2014 at a daycare in Homestead. A friend of mine is a teacher at “My Little Angels” and while waiting for her, I sat down to watch some children playing. There were many kids to do the observation on, but a little girl playing kitchen set caught my eye. I started watching her from 2:00pm to 2:33pm. It is fascinating what kids do and what we can find out about their behavior by watching them for just thirty minutes.
