Margaret Chase Smith quoted that, “Public service must be more than doing a job efficiently and honestly. It must be a complete dedication to the people and to the nation”. A service club is one of the best resources to utilize to accomplish what was quoted.
A service club is defined as an association of business or professional people with the aims of promoting community welfare and goodwill. Not everyone has access to a variety of lists of charities and community events to be part of. Like how for school, the National Honor Society is a reaching point or a ‘source’ to a collection of opportunities to better the community. A community contains a diversity or range of ethnicities and culture which is one value of the service clubs. By promoting

Personally, I would be honored to be part of Lions Club International, now that I am more aware of their mission statement. The fact that this organization has been opened since the 1940’s astonishes me. Oak Cliff Lions Club is only a small part or unit of a bigger organization known as the Lions International. Yet, the facility or group in Dallas housed over 400 members. “400 strong” as past President Steve Bayless once described, desire to better their community. Community is not define as a small area in a city, but a united front of people, culture, or nation. It’s an understatement word that hold history and a philosophical meaning. A service club values the passion to promote welfare. That’s why they support so many charities because events and organization like YMCA make a difference in so many children life. As a past YMCA member, I know that they made a huge impact. This is the place that I learned how to communicate, socialize, and create confidence in myself. Without a service club, kids around the community would not have an outlet to just be kids. Its contributions like this that financially strengths community service events and groups stay
National Honors Society has demonstrated how impactful it is to help out at school and in the community. While doing my community service in various events throughout my junior and senior year, I’ve become aware that National Honors Society has impacted me and the community. I recognized that volunteers positively influence the community. During events volunteers play a major role in community events. Without the help of volunteers many events wouldn’t be possible. I’ve volunteered in events from NHS and also other events in my community, learning that it feels great being part of many events and into making them a good experience for the people involved. National Honors Society has impacted me into knowing the major difference that volunteers
For my community service activity, I have chosen to participate in SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club. It is an organization to empowering students to make better decisions in life. As a member, I will discourage the usage of bad habits by students in peaceful ways and promote programs. Something I will do is funding for people in need, make a poster for Breast Cancer and other programs, and advise students to make the right choices in life. By my participation, I will be able to promote a student to make the right decisions and staying positive in high school and in the future.
A young person should strive to support their local community for various reasons. Engaging in community service provides people with the opportunity to become active members of their community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large. Community service and volunteerism enables one to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those who need it most.
Although I have only been in National Honors Society since last spring, I believe I have nevertheless demonstrated the kind of commitment to the community that NHS members exemplify. Throughout high school, I have been involved in many school-related and independent charitable activities. I have participated for the past three years in the annual Feed My Starving Children food packing event at the high school, one year staying late to seal the 300,000th meal so we could reach our goal. I have volunteered for Osceola Public Library on numerous occasions, and I have also volunteered for the Books for Africa and Operation Christmas charities.
The National Honor Society is for high school seniors who have “demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character”. At John Marshall we really push the “service” area. There are so many different reason I wanted to be a part of NHS; It gives me satisfaction that I was able to become a member of such an elite society, it also is very rewarding to give back to a community that has done so much for me. Each service project I have volunteered at has taught me something different. Since July, I have volunteered at eleven different projects (over 32 hours), and I have learned something new every time. When I volunteered at the Marshall County Family Resource Network’s gift packaging for teenagers at Cameron High and Middle, Moundsville Middle, Sherrard Middle and John Marshall High Schools, I didn’t realize there were so many of my peers in need of simple hygiene products. It inspired me to help and give back to them by donating to Paws for a Cause at John
The National Honors Society believes in leadership, character, scholarship, and service. I believe that I can bring that to Manchester High School. The National Honors Society gives the opportunity students to participate in the community. Without the NHS, the community wouldn’t be able to run the way it does. The NHS not only helps the community, but it also helps the students with their academics. It encourages students to keep their grades up and stay up to date with school events. My sister was a part of the National Honors Society and has encouraged me to join as many clubs as I can. My history of community service includes mission trips, food drives, and other activities for Swift Creek Presbyterian Church. The two mission trips I’ve
The National Honor Society (NHS) is a longstanding nationwide organization that provides students, such as myself, an opportunity to be recognized for their outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. The organization allows for students to excel outside of the classroom through many activities. It provides students, actively involved in the NHS, an opportunity to positively affect the lives of others through the various community service activities that are organized throughout the school year. The NHS will also function as an outlet to network with my fellow peers and teachers who are like-minded in the pursuit of success.
This organization has helped me strengthen my leadership skills through the various events we participate in order to help the community. National Honor Society helps the community by contributing by donating and participating on events that are meant to help the environment. I have participated in can food drives, toy drives, cancer awareness collection of donations, informing the public about the day of giving, meant to collect donations for the financially needy children of BISD, helping around the Spanish Meadows nursing home, among other events. This organization has helped me accomplish a variety of things for example it has helped me improve my character, my service to the community, and strengthen my leadership
By doing this, it will not only make for a better community, but it will also provide a sense of unity and enrich the fulfillment of society members within the community. The National Honor Society as a whole can run a monthly food drive, in doing so, non-perishable food items can be gathered and distributed to those in need. In addition to having food drives; other drives can be factored in, such as winter clothing and shoes. There is a multitude of students that attend school and do not have the proper clothing for the season. Before winter begins, a winter coat drive can be held, and the donations can be dispersed among the students who do not own one, as well as others living in the community. As well as implementing food and donation drives, we can also implement a soup kitchen. The soup kitchen can be held within our school, where it is warm and cozy for those who may not have a comfortable home environment. The soup kitchen can be held every week; fundraisers and donations will help finance the soup kitchen, and it will bring a new found appreciation within the community. We will be helping people that are financially incapable of providing for
Like other service clubs, Key Club offers a variety of activities that gives us members plenty to choose from. These are opportunities that many students would participate in but are disoriented as to where to look; Key club facilitates this search. Volunteer activities such as Blood Drive, Humane Society and school clean ups have made me realize that there are endless possibilities to help out my community. Blood drive will help save individuals on the verge of life and death. Humane Society will provide care for animals that have reached a point of learned helplessness. School clean ups has kept our facility a symbol of pride. Knowing I saved a life, helped the helpless, and made my school a better place brings me pride beyond that of any materialistic thing. Standing up with fellow Key Club members not
Despite it being middle school, my leadership of the first ever NJHS at Sparta Middle School, taught me valuable things about leading and being part of a club with such prestige. As the inaugural chapter of the society, we ran the student-faculty basketball game, baked cookies for Project Self-Sufficiency, and collected food and then visited a local food bank. I learned how much a group of students could impact the community with their actions, something I had previously thought impossible. I will draw from those experiences when presenting my opinion on new service projects and will also try to introduce successful techniques that I used back during my time spent as President of
National Honor Society is an organization that I am proud to a part of because it teaches the member to be a quick-thinker, intelligent, kind, responsible and considerate of others. It lets you reach out to foster children, the homeless, seriously ill, senior adults and those who are malnourished from lack of proper food and clean water. In National Honor Society, you can meet new friends and learn more about what it takes to be part of a team. As a member of this distinguished organization, I donated toys to the sick children at Children’s Hospital, participated in fundraisers like the selling of fancy mugs and cookie dough, helped clean and set up the Induction Ceremony of 2016, cleaned up after the Safe Trick or treat night in 2015, and
One of the main goals of Corporate Service Corps program is to use resources and technology to solve the problems of the world, which to me takes center stage. The experience and exposure to different cultures and communities around the world can go a large extent in building ones understanding and empathy towards issues that plague many countries. I believe all these combined together makes me want to be a part of the program. One’s ability and mettle can be tested only when given situations and a time frame that is challenging, which this program provides you with. This being my early years in a huge and ever expanding industry the program will help me strength my technical knowledge and along with it give me taste of leadership and the world
Service club is an essential club that is available to all who sign up. Of all the clubs, service club is the most active.
