Service For A Volunteer At United Hospital

Service means giving back to a community that has made me the person I am today. It means being selfless, and doing something that benefits someone other than me. Service is more than doing work that you are obligated to do without any reward; it is setting aside time in your busy schedule to make a difference for the better. “Service’ is not the work I would use to describe my work; “volunteering” is more appropriate. A volunteer is defined as a person who freely offers to take part in an enterprise or undertake a task. The key word is: offers. Any delinquent could do service; it takes selflessness and passion to volunteer.
I was always interested in volunteering and helping others, but I did not get into it until I got involved with the National Honor Society at my high school. The program required us to do at least 10 hours of volunteering each semester. During the time, I was also in the process of becoming to be a volunteer at United Hospital. I already had the ambition to do volunteer work, but now I had the opportunities to actually do it. Volunteering at a hospital was not what I had expected it to be. To be honest, it was quite boring, because it felt like I was just sitting around most of the time waiting to be needed. But the feeling I got after volunteering made it all worth it. Knowing that I could have spent the day doing something else, but choosing to be here and to actually make a difference have me a feeling of elation. Same with the work I did with the
