Scientists have discovered a material modeled after shark skin, which can help reduce the spread of bacteria in hospitals. Shark skin has a feel similar to sandpaper. That is because of the tiny ridges and grooves that reduce friction and help the shark to move so fast through the water. Bumby designed to allow sharks to move through the ocean also perfect in preventing the growth of bacteria, including Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) bacteria which is resistant to the antibiotics used to treat staph infection, and known for causing infection in hospitals. Researchers helped by using this material to stop spreading the disease of causing bacteria in hospitals. The Study examined how the shark skin has bumps that are too
I think the idea of making sharkwater was very good because it was a hit all over the world and a lot of countries banned shark finning and it helped sharks a lot, and I think without the movie sharkwater there will be not as many sharks as there is now. The movie talked a lot about the shark stereotypes that the media say like terrifying sea monsters ...ect. In fact Rob Stewart showed us that we can swim with them in peace and touch them. The movie video was in high definition so that was great. I really liked Paul Watson because he is really into the green peace that he will give his life to it. In general I will give this movie a 8/10.
Sharks are one of the oceans top predators. They vary in size from the extremely small dwarf shark, to the colossal whale shark. Sharks can be found all across the world’s oceans, from the tropic waters of Hawaii to the sub zero temperatures in the Artic oceans. Of the hundreds of sharks a select few species have actually been recorded in the Artic. Of these few, only three of them spend the majority of their time in these harsh, freezing waters. These sharks are the Greenland, Pacific Sleeper, and Salmon sharks.
Humans are just like sharks. Humans eat meat they have live babies and sharks make mistakes just like humans. Sharks are very interesting creatures but people don’t give them a chance because people make them sound like they are terrible beasts. Many people are more likely to get killed by a car crash then by a shark. If people keep killing sharks for fins there will be no more sharks.
If a bull shark and hammerhead shark were to fight, the bull shark would win. Bull sharks are the most dangerous sharks in the world! Along with this, bull sharks have special adaptations, and they hunt in shallow waters. Although hammerhead sharks have great vision, the shape of their heads, and the placement of their eyes cause them to have a huge blind spot right in the middle of their head. This makes it easier for other sharks to win a fight against the hammerhead.
For this discussion, I chose to examine the reproductive nature of mountain lions and hammer head sharks. Mountain lions are solitary cats that live in various mountainous regions of north and south America, but a male and female come together socially in order to mate during the 3-10 day estrus period. Due to their solitary nature, mountain lions rely on scent marking in different territory as well as a mating call of the female in order to initiate the potential for sex. Typically, when a male and female find each other; they spend several days together during the mating period and he may hunt for her and run mating circles around her. Mountain lions are polygynous and both the males and females will mate with multiple individuals throughout
The Mako shark is a very unique species of cartilaginous fish in the Lamnidae family (Col-Spector, Audrey, “MAKO SHARK- Enchanted Learning Software"). This pelagic swimmer is the fastest shark that has ever been observed in the ocean, clocking in at speeds up to 60 mph (Col-Spector). Its streamlined body allows it to swim at faster speeds than most other fish, making it a highly successful predator. “Schooling fish, including tuna, herring, mackerel, swordfish, and porpoise” are popular among the diet of the Makos (Col-Spector). Although they like to prey specifically on schooling fish, Makos eat just about anything they come across (Col-Spector). The Mako sharks physical features and social characteristics is what sets it apart from other species of the deep.

Pacific sleeper sharks, which are also known scavengers, can glide through the water with little body movement and little hydrodynamic noise making them successful predators. They feed by suction and cutting of their prey. They have large mouths that can inhale prey and their teeth cut up any pieces that are too large to swallow. They show a characteristic rolling motion of the head when feeding. Only in Alaska has the shark's diet been studied - most sharks' stomachs contain remains of giant Pacific octopus. They are also known to feed on bottom-dwelling teleost fishes as well as soles, flounders, Alaska pollock, rockfishes, shrimps, hermit crabs, and even marine snails. Larger Pacific sleeper sharks are also found to feed on fast swimming
Who wouldn’t want a Hammerhead Shark as a pet? Even though I think sharks are awesome, and other people agree there’s a few little things you might want to consider before you think you could have one as your man’s best friend. The rest of this paper is about the reasons why you shouldn’t have a Hammerhead Shark as your new BFWF. (Best Friend With Fins.)
Bull sharks are large sharks that prefer shallow waters less than 100 feet deep. They are often found in murky waters. This is a perfect recipe for shark attacks, as bull sharks prefer habitats where humans are swimming, wading or fishing.
Sharp teeth, an ominous fin and the sound of Jaws ring in your ears. For some, this sounds like a nightmare. For the adventuresome spirit, an up close interaction with a shark is a dream come true. With North Shore Shark Adventures, you can live out your dream of swimming with the sharks without any danger. Shark cages and snorkels are used so that you can get as close to the shark as possible in complete safety.
A judge or jury would easily find that the failure to provide Ms. Shark with reasonable disability accommodation was not based on any legal merit and failure to provide the requested accommodation caused Ms. Shark significant damages, including re-aggravation of her injury.
Most everyone thinks sharks eat just about everything but that is just not the case. Most sharks eat smaller fish. Larger sharks prey on seals, sea lions, squid, octopus, and rays. Sharks do not usually hunt humans. When they attack a person it is usually just a mistaken identity. Or they feel threatened in some way. They will usually let go of the person after the first bite.
Selachimorpha, or the shark harvested for food, medicine and leather goods. Shark skin, and scales, (denticles) are used to make leather. Shark liver oil is used in medicine and cosmetic products. The oil is used in medicine to treat leukemia and other cancers, the oil is used to prevent radiation illness during cancer X-ray therapy and to boost the body's immune system. During chemotherapy the oil can be used to increase white cell, which many are killed from the treatment. (Shark liver oil, 2009) The oil is retrieved from the livers of three species of shark; the deep sea shark (Centrophorus squamosus), the dogfish (Sqaulus acanthias), and the basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus). (Bakes, Michael J, et al., 1995) Shark meat is also consumed by humans in many different ways such as fish and chips in the UK and Australia. Another way they are consumed in shark fin soup, an East Asian delicacy.
My confusion is why would people do such an ignorant or stupid thing that’s not going to help anyone. 2. Natural disasters are dramatic enough, and yet every time one hits, the Internet lights up with years-old pictures, out-of-context videos and, inevitably, the mascot of all fake social media posts: road shark. If you don't know what road shark is, it's an image of a shark swimming on a flooded highway that rears its Photoshopped head every time there's a hurricane or major water-related event. The image, of course, is fake. 3. These people share fake photos of natural disasters for a couple of reasons. One is that they want attention. People love getting attention and what better way to do it. They make a simple sentence about some storm
