She's an underestimated, vertically challenged, humorous girl who you can laugh at and with. Everybody sees her, but nobody sees in her. When she loves, she cares and sacrifices for them. As a little girl, she hated school, but she thinks differently now. She's grown up, in more ways than one. To give this girl a chance, Is a blessing. The basketball player, sister, scholar, and friend, Shelly Jimenez.
Throughout her challenges, Jimenez can always depend on her family. She believes she can go far in life because she has a family who supports her and so she's willing to sacrifice for them. When asked what is important to her, she replied,"My family is most important, I want my little sister to be someone big in life." Many might think her home life is suitable. But she thinks differently. To her it's only okay, because her parents work a lot so she's in the house mostly babysitting her sister so it's boring. The reason why she doesn't get to see her parents is because her mom is a nurse assistant, and she likes her mind job because she

When at home she enjoys reading and drawing. When she has extra free-time she plays some basketball. Which she also plays for her school. She prefers spending time outside. Jimenez further explains,"I'd rather be outside, since there's more things you could do and inside there's barely anything and then I feel really lazy." She decided to go to Sylmar because she has family members that come here. Also, ever since she moved down here, she noticed it was closest to her home. In her family, she least likes one of her aunts, Lucy. Her top reasons are, her aunt thinks her daughter is better at everything, she's always asking for money, and is selfish. The one she most likes is another one of her aunts, Elida. Not only because she works in a hospital but because she was like her second mom since she could
Since the day she was born everyone knew she was something special, but she didn’t know it herself. Annie had a pretty normal life for a 16 year-old girl. She was tall with hazel eyes and light brown hair that turned golden in the sunlight. Annie was extraordinarily smart, smarter than everyone in her grade. Growing up in New York City has tought her to be strong on the outside and hold your emotions on the inside, she lives with her mother, father, and her brother. As Annie took the subway home from her last day of Sophomore year she taught to herself about all the adventures Sophomore year had given her and all the academic challenges she had overcome. She got off the subway in a rush to get home and start planning her summer out but instead she saw her parents sitting cautiously on the couch as if
As a child she did poorly in school. “I have C’s and D’s in everything… The only B I had was in conduct, but I don’t remember being that stupid (Mirriam- Goldberg 5).” As a latina girl growing up on the southside of chicago, she knew she didn’t have much of a chance becoming something. “...they thought the best she could achieve in her life was to be married, have children, and run a cash register at a local supermarket (Mirriam- Goldberg 6).” She went on to prove them all wrong. Attending Loyola University in Chicago she studied english
Alicia now must do all household duties. Her father gives her a hard time about staying up all night as she tries to get a college degree. In Hispanic society when the mother dies, the oldest female child takes over, not the father. Alicia and her father belong to Esperienza Mesosystem. Competition runs in Gabrielle’s veins. It drives her in everything she does whether it be her performance in school, to keeping her National Honors Society membership, on the softball field, or at home. Raised to be the best she could be, she’s been competing since birth with anyone she could even vaguely consider competition. Some say it’s a rough way to raise your kid – having them always desperate to be better, telling them again and again that the kid needs to be three times as good to get half of what others have, but for Gabby, it’s the only thing she knows. It’s easy to see how she became the captain of the softball team and why she plays goalie for the girls soccer team. She is highly disciplined and focused, and knows exactly where
Shyla’s hobbies include physical activity. Ever since the fifth grade she played her favorite sport, basketball. Starting as a peewee, she continued playing the sport all through high school. So, Malia now works in a factory and her husband, Leger, owns a farm. As for Braxton, he works as an electrical engineer and his wife, Celeste, works as a nurse. Zia rose from her bed and began walking to the bathroom to begin prepping for the day. She brushed her teeth and washed her hair. She made her way back to her room to get dressed. Her closet consisted mostly of denim and khakis. As for her tops, they were mostly pain, dark colors, same with her few dresses. She chose to wear a dark red shirt and some blue jeans. Once she was dressed, she dried her hair and put it into a bun. When she thought she looked ok, she made her way downstairs. The rest of her family was already up. As the oldest left in the house, she had to make help make breakfast, and help clean up after. It wasn't always her favorite of her chores, but she did it. She did it to help her family because they all meant the world to her, even her mom. They didn’t always get along but Zia still loved her because Zia knew that she wouldn’t be where she is without her. As for her dad, Zia loved her dad more than anyone else on this earth. All the kids would run to mom with all their problems, but Zia runs to her
As Trinity walked through the hall of South River Middle School, she realized some of the the trouble-some eighth graders were already causing a commotion. Middle school is a tough transition for everyone, especially at South River Middle school. Teenagers suffocated the halls, pushed those passing by, and shoved each other. There were bullies at any corner and someone was always lurking near to shout out an insult at their victim. All the kids there practically begged their parents to let them switch schools. Unfortunately, that was not an option. Just one of the many, Trinity Jones was a small ordinary girl in the seventh grade with long, jagged brown hair and watchful eyes. She was bashful, sweet, selfless, and obedient. She was an
Johanna Preciado was like most 13 year old girls. She was a bit boy crazy, she wore braces, and she was insecure about her body. She also struggled with depression and ADD, but was described as a generally happy girl who enjoyed spending time with friends and family. When Johanna was entering eighth grade and her parents enrolled her in a private school, hoping that the policy of uniforms and no makeup would help her fit in. At around the same time, Johanna became active on Instagram, under the strict supervision of her mother. One day, an older boy named Chris sent Johanna a message through Instagram and they became online friends. Chris was attractive and Johanna was excited to receive attention from a boy, although she never met
When she was young, she had a pretty rough childhood and her family had a lack of money. And when she was only three her father struck illness and got typhoid fever and died. Also in that same year they moved and her mother remarried. As well her mother's new husband didn’t like kids, especially young children and her mother agreed to move away with her husband and leave her children behind. So she moved in with her step dad’s family, which meant having to deal with his strict mother and they didn’t have much money. They even lacked in money to buy school pencils. And at age eleven she finally reunited with her mother, At 15 she encouraged her mother to let her join the New York City drama club. But her drama teacher told her mom she was wasting
Lenora Smith, a woman of few words, but when she does choose to utter a statement everyone listens. During class, all halted in the wake of the stern hold of voice, holding their breath waiting for her to say who was in trouble. When she returned home, though she still maintains her hard exterior and her disciplinary manner, her true demeanor and kind heart shines through when she surrounded by family and friends. I’ve admired her since I was in pull-ups, she held me at my birth, helped me balance on my two feet as a toddler, and has made sure I haven’t fallen since. Her tough love has molded me into the person I am today and I’m grateful for every word of encouragement, every lecture, and every hug.
Academic: As a result of Shelly’s dysgraphia, she has had a lot of academic difficulties and needs since she entered school. Since she struggles with

On a sunny Tuesday noon, professor Turner asked his students to interview someone in their classroom in order to learn each other’s names and to know more about their classmates. This essay is about the girl who I had the pleasure to interview and know more about her background and her past life. Born into a large family with strong background and having collected dozens of medals in different fields, she is still looking at higher grounds to achieve in her life.
Last but not least, Maddie’s life revolves around basketball. She never takes a break and is always dedicated with a good attitude no matter what the situation may be. Maddie always gives 110%, even when she does not feel like it. Maddie’s parents push her hard, not because they are being mean, just because they know that she can make something out of herself one day if she works hard enough. When she is upset or stressed, ball always makes her feel better and clears her mind. As I have stated, basketball is Maddie’s life for sure.
