Guess what?" "Chicken butt," I said unenthusiastically. "Oh no, sweetie. Eros 's butt." Connor smirked. He jerked his head sideways, trying to get his luscious auburn bangs to move away from his deep brown eyes. I nearly stumbled over my non-existent shoelaces at the mention of his name. Unfortunately, I didn 't have enough time to ponder over Connor 's words. My eyes flickered towards the student body around me until it landed on one face that drove every single person insane. Especially me. He had been doing that to me since middle school. Every time he strolls past me, a fluttery feeling settles in my heart. Every time his warm blue eyes glisten in the tiny sun rays peeking through the school windows, my chest heavies and breathing becomes an unnatural task. Every time his shoulder bumps into mine, the aftereffects of musky, sweet cologne intoxicate my mind. Every time the back of his hand accidentally brushes mine when he picks up a pencil I dropped accidentally, I shudder. Every time he makes out with his demonic girlfriend, vile rises in my throat, making me want to throw up. It 's torture. Which was the reason why I hated Eros. I hated that I loved him. I hated that his one glance on me could lift up my mood instantly. For the last six years, ever since Mom and I moved to New York, I have been madly in love with the most unreachable guy in our school. Eros Effing Hall. No, no, it wasn 't entirely my fault that like every other teen girl I adored him to
Through Alcibiades’ speech about love, it should be connected with Diotima’s speech which comes from Socrates. She claims that Eros is the love of beauty, but not the ideal love. “ Then don’t compel what is not beautiful to be ugly, nor what is not good to be bad. So too for Eros, since you yourself agree that hi is neither good nor beautiful, do

If there is anything to learn from failed relationships, whether it be with a best friend or a significant other, the idea that one of the partners may not have put enough effort into the relationship is ever present, which soon causes the other to feel neglected and drift away. But women continue to pour their heart out to try and make their partner happy; however, in the end, they fall short of their love and end up heartbroken. Book IV of the Aeneid is a prime example of this because Queen Dido promises to love only Aeneas forever. But as he leaves Carthage to fulfill his destiny, Dido, along with many women in the world, have their heart broken despite the effort they put into their relationship.
his dirty fingernails against my skin, only his sour smell again. The moon that watched. The
I know I seem super creepy and such but I just can't help it. Everything about him makes me happy, super happy. His smile, his laugh, his hair.. it's all perfect to me.
In Anne Stevenson’s “Eros,” the god of love is shown to be broken and abused. Many negative words are used to emphasize Eros’ brokenness. He is described as a “bully boy,” a “brute” that “offends,” and is given “blows” delivered by “lust.” These words are not pleasant, as they illustrate an offensive, hurtful figure. As a “slave” to immortality, Eros is doomed to a “bruised” and “battered visage” for eternity. It is destined for him to endure such a future because of the nature of his job. These strong words of hate and hurt show the pain that love had to endure. The caller of love asks, “Can this be you, with boxer lips and patchy wings askew?” Eros answers with, what “you see is what long overuse has made
On October 8, 2016, Samantha Webb went on her first date. Her date for the evening was Calvin Jones. She had turned 16 the previous July and hadn’t been asked on a date since then. Calvin had asked her to the school’s Homecoming dance.
"Wake up, partners," the trail boss, James called. I sleepily looked up , shivered, and saw I was the only one not up. "Here," James said, giving me the horses' bridles and saddles. "Take these and get the horses ready. We have a long day today." I groaned in reply and set up the horses for the day's long drag. I was the horse wrangler and this was my everyday job but I still couldn't get use to the idea of waking up before the sun and working. We drove the cattle into open plains against the winter's cold wrath.

When I was little, I wanted to be a chemist. I imagined myself in the lab coat, carefully pouring electric blue liquids and jade green foam back and forth into various containers. As I grew up, I lost this fantasy, but I gained more knowledge on how I wanted to influence the world.
The travelers trudged from the bus stop to the favored Chick-fil-a in the LaCantara Mall.As they gave their orders the Pianist declared,”We should continue to tell tales as we have done the previous night”.
Humans have many goals and decisions throughout their life, some important, some trivial. Love is one of the big decisions that appears in life. Love varies in many forms, love between friends and the love between a parent and their child are different. These different types of love are called facets, and are often utilized in literature to show the relationship between characters. These facets lets the reader know what kind of person the character is and makes the story more engaging, and detailed because Eros, one of the types of love, shows the passion between lovers, Philia shows the love between friends, and Storge shows the loving relationship between a child and their parents.
Our conscience tries to tell us what is right and what we should do; in short it guides on judging value whereas Eros is more for us to choose the things that we want which includes love. Eros may sometimes go against our conscience for our lust and love of other things. Without balance, there is no integrity of the soul. In order to find balance in Eros and our conscience, we would need to find the middle ground of the two, it is comparable to that of drawing a line in sand where there is no crossing the line. We would need to follow our conscience on what is right but also have the freedom to choose what we want to do. There has to be limitations and that can only be done by strengthening the integrity of a person. As humans, we should not
It’s no secret, especially to a high school teacher, that many forms of “love” are very temporary yet still can cause large amounts of problems because of the “he said, she said” situation. Because Dido was rushed into loving this strange man who she knew, relatively, very little about, but it wasn’t her fault. Without the gods’ agendas, Dido and Aeneas could’ve fallen in love naturally and together formed a city that could very well surpass the once great city of Troy, but alas, the gods played with them like pawns in their game of chess which allowed for the events which would forever change the course of history. To add to the troubles on top of that, Dido’s jealous former suitor finds out that the woman he likes is being courted, again very easy for a high school teacher to picture that happening, and decides to do something about it, and by do something about it, I mean cry to his daddy which I’m also sure a high school teacher wouldn’t be unfamiliar with. Because of these semi-artificial feelings, coupled with external pressure, it’s no wonder why their relationship ended with one of them
The term “Eros,” referring to passionate love in English, has long been the mainstream of themes in drama, literature, arts, and cinematic media. The fascinating power of love has been exhaustively publicized, and the pursuit of love is diffused in streets and lanes. Conversely, in ancient times, many poets, especially Virgil, Ovid and Apuleius, described eros as such an evil spirit that it will destroy the female soul thoroughly, except for the one in Apuleius’ story of Cupid and Psyche. Even if taking into account the historical background of a patriarchal community and therefore the esteemed male dominance, the particular case of Psyche’s surviving and even thriving her encounter with eros
