Eighteen deaths. Three tragedies. One Cowboy family. When a school has suffered as much as Oklahoma State, you have to wonder what it is about that place that still draws people to it? Most kids from my town find themselves at Texas Tech or Texas A&M. Why not follow them? The very first time I stepped on campus, I fell in love. From the flowers in front of the library to the trees that surround Theta Pond, everything about the campus was beautiful to me. More important than the beauty of the campus itself are the ethics for which it stands. The vision of Oklahoma State University is to “advance the quality of life in Oklahoma by fulfilling the instructional, research, and outreach obligations of a first-class, land grant educational system.” …show more content…
We were driving up for the homecoming game. I arrived in town about nine o’ clock. My friend, who attends Oklahoma State, picked me up and took me on a tour around Greek Row to show me the floats. Afterwards, we went to her dorm to prepare for the game that was scheduled for later in the afternoon. Just before 11 o’clock I got an urgent text from my older brother. He also attends OSU and needed to know where I was. This struck me as odd until we walked outside and heard the overwhelming sound of helicopters overhead. The news I would hear only seconds later would validate the choice of Stillwater as my home for the next four …show more content…
Our teams and coaches take pride in carrying themselves with class, both on and off the field. The fans tend to replicate that same state of mind. This has garnered a lot of love from the Big 12 family over these past few weeks. The Oklahoma University band, the Cowboys’ biggest rival, flew an OSU flag at their game on the day of the accident. Many of the teams have made large banners for their students to sign. The University of Arkansas’ read “Standing #StillwaterStrong”. A week after the accident, the Oklahoma State football team traveled to Lubbock. Texas Tech officials asked their fans to refrain from using the hashtag “#WreckOSU” or “#Wreckem” out of respect for the tragedy. They also displayed an orange ribbon on their scoreboard. It is times of heartache like Stillwater is currently enduring that show the importance of friendships like these. Oklahoma State has historically filled its campus with loving people who receive help in times of need because they would willingly do the same for even their most bitter

In the beginning of our great history of Texas Southern University, I’ve come to learn that Texas Southern was known by many other names before it became as we know it today. On September 14, 1927, the Houston Public School Board agreed to fund the creation of two new junior colleges, one for whites and one for African Americans. Houston Colored Junior College first enrollment count in the summer of 1927 was 300 which would dramatically change in the fall semester when the school dropped to just 88 students. The Houston Colored College was established to give African Americans the opportunity to receive a college education. The college progressed and improved so much that it became a member of the Association of Colleges and the Southern Association of Colleges, which is all about the improvement of education in the South through accreditation.
College Football is one of the most popular sports in America. Every week and weekend during the fall millions of people, from all different parts of the country take time out of their days to catch a game. Whether it be the hundreds of thousands that flock to a stadium to see their favorite team play, or the large amount that watch on television from their home. While there are a ton of different schools across multiple divisions, there’s no team that compares to The Ohio State University’s football team. Ohio State has arguably one of the best football programs of all time.
Kapaun Mount Carmel will play their first game on March 24 when the Crusaders travel to 4A-I powerhouse, Hays. The Crusaders will take the field without their number one pitcher from 2015, Joe Lienhard, now pitching for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
The Ohio statehouse had multiple people contribute to its construction; there were numerous architects and several others. In 1838 there was a design competition held by the government to decide how the building would be built. Many entries were received from the public around the county, and most were either architects or artists. The winner was Henry Walter from Cincinnati while second place went to Martin E. Thompson from New York and third place went to Thomas Cole who was a landscape painter. The design of the statehouse was centered around all three of the winners, and Alexander Jackson Davis, an architectural consultant, drew the design. The construction of the statehouse began on July 4, 1839, and 22 years later the structure was completed in 1861.
Our alma mater, The University of Arkansas' alma mater, has an important 4 word sentiment. "Pride of Our Hearts." This phrase represents the love and overwhelming pride in which alumni have for the University or Arkansas. This love and pride extends to the Razorback athletic program and more importantly the student athletes who choose to represent our university. I love my Razorbacks. My wife loves her Razorbacks. We are thankful to have an athletic director who loves and supports the Razorback student athletes as much as you do.
Arkansas state university has a long history that goes back many years, at one time it was not even a college. It has come a long way over the years and here is a brief history of the school.
Baylor has always had a place in my heart, even before I visited the campus. I would wear Baylor shirts each day to class and even cheer for the Baylor football team. Many people were astonished that I would want to apply to a university that was eighteen hours away. I have always wanted to find a university that honored the Christian faith. Finding a university in North Carolina just like Baylor's similarities is uncommon. North Carolina is known for top universities including Duke University, Wake Forest University, and the University of North Carolina; but none of those seem to have what I wanted. I thought Baylor was not going to have this Christian atmosphere that I was looking for, I was flabbergasted. I heard from many different people, that Baylor is probably one of the best Christian universities that exist today.

As I walk down music note road I listen to the delightful sound of the acoustic guitars playing one of my favorite songs. Everywhere I look I see amazing artists singing. The cars are made out of old musical instruments that play relaxing jazz. The beautiful blue beach sounds like classic pop music. I ask the dj to play a song and me and my friends dance. I walk home with my friend on the piano sidewalk and look at the gorgeous guitar trees blooming in the spring. I pick the flute flowers and make a buckeye. I say hello to everyone walking by and give the buckeye to my friend. I look around this beautiful town and think I'm the luckiest person in the world. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Then I walk to music school. At school we learn
Eastern New Mexico University is the optimal choice for me because the faculty cherishes the success of the students. The first time I visited Eastern, I was fortunate enough to meet with Mr. Seifert, who truly inspired me to make my decision to attend ENMU. After our initial conversation, he gave me a tour of the music building. His generosity with his time meant a lot to me. This particular touch shows the integrity of the university as unpretentious and attentive, which is incredibly refreshing specifically at the university level. The stereotypical thought of college to a high school student is that college is a frenzy, with students left to fend for themselves, in a high pressure, an almost impossible atmosphere. My impression of eastern is that the entirety of the university is involved in the success of the
George Champlin Sibley was an explorer who led this first expedition in 1811 (Dyson 1). The book “Oklahoma a history” has a map showing this explorers routes on page 49 (Baird and Goble 60). The path that Sibley created is very unique path. He starts toward the middle of the now state, Oklahoma. Then continues south for about twenty five miles, heads east for a bit and loops back north past the state line. Then about fifty miles later, heads south for around ten miles and is again past the state line. It’s a very interesting path that Sibley made. However, I wonder if the terrain had something to do with loops. Although, Sibley did maneuver around the Arkansas River the first loop, which leads me to think he may have just gotten turned around.
My current event article is on the Oklahoma State homecoming incident. This took place on Saturday October 24, 2015. This horrific event occurred during a homecoming parade, when The Oklahoma State Cowboys were about to face the Kansas Jayhawks in a friendly college football matchup. In the middle of the parade, a driver by the name Adacia Chambers (25) ran into a crow- full of people. There has been four confirmed deaths; one including a toddler. There have been over 50 reports of injuries and five of the people are in critical condition. The girl has been charged with DUI and is in jail. More charges could pile up on her if more witnesses come forward and if the police find out what her intent was, or if she just did the crime by accident.
Whether it be the crazy crowd at the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, or the Famous “BOOMER SOONER” chants sooner fans roar before the game. It might be the thousands of tailgaters that gather to cook hotdogs and burgers, or maybe it's a walk through Legends Lobby that gets fans ready to watch the game. Whatever it is this is Sooner Football. Rich History and tradition, created by talented players and coaches, has made Oklahoma Football into the powerhouse that it is today.
The organizational culture and climate were both factors that seemed to be leading to the closings of the Culpeper and Hampton campuses and ultimately led to the closure of the Staunton campus. Looking at the organization in terms of management, the lack of communication appeared to be a contributor to its suffering. The parents, students and most shockingly, the faculty were all ill-informed by those running the institutions. While their focus seemed to be on comforting families and eliminating stress in these situations, they did not exchange honest and constructive information with them which resulted in a very hostile situation and left many of the students without schools. Not only did this affect the families of the students, but it also had a significant effect on the faculty, who were shocked by the changes. From the start, the organization had set a precedent that they were both community and achievement oriented. Consequently, the organization lost the name they had made for themselves because of their failure to communicate to those that invested their time and trust in the institution.
