The sound of dripping water caused Kiara took look up from her desk. It had been raining and drops of pooled water were dripping onto her window. The Princess sat in her private chambers while gazing lazily at a stack of treaties that her father had told her to study. She had a long time before she would become Queen, but her father refused to let her enjoy her spare time. He always wanted her studying up on the latest information from all of the neighboring kingdoms. More specifically the kingdom to the northwest. A kingdom filled to the brim with demonic beings. She had seen them before. Her father liked to entertain traveling nobility. When she snuck out of the castle to wander the market she would sometimes see them as well. The market …show more content…
Her arms were covered fully by tight sleeves that ended at her wrist. "Thank you ladies...you are dismissed..." She told them, causing them to depart quickly. Kiara slipped on some sparkling earrings and a necklace that dipped down into the exposed area of her chest. "I suppose I should get this over with..." she sighed softly. The Princess turned to leave her room, headed towards the royal ballroom. Her mind wandered. Her Kingdom was large and relatively wealthy. There were several different towns surrounding the castle itself, deep and often dangerous woods bordered them from their closest enemies but also left towns farther away in peril. The humans often had little to defend against the beasts from the dark woods, and she believed her father was trying to remedy that situation. If they could gain a relationship with one of the demon monarchies they could likely get help protecting their towns from the beasts on their borders. The only question would be what said demons would want in exchange, and if the humans even had anything of worth to them. Kiara stopped before two large doors, carved intricately with ancient symbols that even she didn't understand. She could tell that the party had already begun. She waited to be announced and then placed a warm smile on her lips, walking gracefully into the ballroom. The ballroom was set up with a large staircase leading down onto an expansive dance floor.
This time the subject that was being accused was his lover. The young boy had two doors to choose from, behind one awaited a young beautiful maiden that he would be set to marry if that were to be his fate, however behind another door was a hungry tiger that he would suffer at the claws of if he were to pick it. The king had arranged this entire sick and twisted affair, a quote from the short story states that “It mattered not that he already possesses a wife and family, or that his affections might be engaged upon another object of his own selection; the king allowed no such subordinate arrangements to interfere with his great scheme of retribution and reward”. The princess knew this which in turn unsettled her for she loved him with an ardor that had enough barbarism to make to extremely warm and strong. The fact that her personality was depicted as being semi barbaric and that her love for him had barbarism in it is a hint that the princess would subject her lover to death than see him with another woman.
At night, the queen’s Hirdin—her elite guard—dragged people from their homes, accused them of disloyalty, and took them to the castle tower. Screams of anguish were heard day and
"Long ago, their was an attack on this city. Many nobles, and townspeople lost their lives, defending their king. The city itself was greatly damaged in the battle. Some thought it was beyond repair. but just when we were about to lose hope, we received help from another kingdom we never even knew existed. They rode on great winged horses, and they wore glowing armor, that shined like the sun. They repaired our city in return for a promise. That we hide the castle using their implanted cloaking device, and never speak a word of it's existence to anyone, except someone by the name of Adenine."
She ran, her breath coming in gasps. Just a few more steps. Tears fell freely, blurring her vision, but that did not matter she still remembered the way. The worn rock steps had been a comfort to her when she was a child. Now they pierced her bare feet cutting into her skin as broken as she felt. The destination was a place she had once called her own. The maids had told her that the kingdom was guarded by magic to keep away anyone who tried harm to the royal family. She refused to believe them of course, magic was long dead in her
As the trumpets sounded further back, Reina’s mare panicked again. The petite woman, guided her horse from the main footpath to allow the latest arrived party through. She certainly thought the trumpets were overkill, but as the voice announced the King had arrived, the entrance became more memorable rather than an annoyance. She gently ran her fingers against the mare’s face, soothing the animal. Her eyes however remained on the knights and the royalty. She sighed quietly, her father forbid her from hearing princess stories as she was growing up. Instead Reina was forced to read the stories herself, hiding the books from her parents. She had always wondered what life would be like living in a castle.
In the dark of morning, just before the sun started to rise, King Goddric looked out on the fields of the north. His kingdom was vast and beautiful. Memories of his long years came like sparks from a fire to give light to his dark mood. His foul mood wasn't something that overtook him occasionally, this was the deep sadness born from time. In his years as king his choices were not easy. They have caused his kin to turn against him. For what seemed like the millionth time in the last 15 years, he wondered if he was doing the right thing. Yes, most of the girls he brought here proved that they could be bonded to his people. Yes, they gave him both joy and pride at all they have learned and all they can do. But, was it enough? Goddric thought of the first king of the elves. He was too young a king for his time. He had made hard choices like himself.
Knowing you have a mate gives you a strange type of high. You know you'll never be able to hold him, or love him or even admire him from afar without getting slander from the whole pack and yet, you still somehow find yourself hoping that maybe this is the moment when you finally break out of the prison of an isolated life.
So i set myself for the travel. I packed food, water, tents, weapons, and armor. It took three days and two nights. To get to the castle on top of Mount. Kimmopalisis. I reached the castle doors. I could hear anger roar past through those doors. The fear of innocent souls inside. I knocked down the castle doors. Drawing my sword I jump and made a nice incision in Queen Merlesa dragon. A black mist started to form out of this creature. Screaming and aching noises followed as the mist went into the nothingness. I could feel the spring warmth as i walked outside to get a look. I took a deep breath and said, “Now I am the Queen and this is my Kingdom of Simra. I shall treat my people with the kindness and equality as they
Shortly thereafter, he went over to her and placed a hand on her shoulder. “We’ve done enough today. You should rest.”
“You look stunning,” I say, and I really do mean it. She politely thanks me, and walked back into our bathroom to apply more makeup. I pick up my watch from the bed and place it on my wrist.
During our journey back to the heart of the Arrance kingdom all I think about was queen Jocelyn. She had never had a very strong will and would cry when faced with any form of difficulty and confusion. Above all her faults Jocelyn truly loved Anthony his death would leave an unmeasurable sized hole in her heart. A hole I was sure nothing except ignorance and time could allow her to ignore. On the second day of our journey I knew Jocelyn had to have read the letter by now. The queen was probably sitting on the floor of her bed chambers

Her long, dark, hair was put in two braids with thousands of flyaway pieces. Arden almost didn’t notice when a large group of palace guards rode their horses to the dancing arena. She backed her way through the crowd. The rhythm stopped as abruptly as the soldier’s arrival.
