Whether or not American citizens should be regulated in national elections.
Is a controversial issue. There is a debate if american elections should be a voluntary thing or should be forced. One side of the argument is that requiring citizens to vote will result in a stronger democracy. However Americans should not be regulated to vote because it is a violation of their constitutional right, and forcing voters will result in inaccurate election outcome.

American citizens should not be entitled or required to vote, because it goes against the first amendment which is the right to not speak, and choose our own choices, for example in text 4 line 11 it states “Democracy is about freedom”, In other words those who live in a democratic nation such as the united states should have the right to withhold their vote or opinion on the election. This reveals that the requirements of the American citizens to vote is highly unconstitutional. This is significant because the united states was built upon the right to free speech and freedom to not have an opinion, and forcing its people to vote is not only unconstitutional but goes against what this country is founded upon. …show more content…

This illuminates the idea that is people are forced to vote against their will they will tend to not make a well informed decision. This is important because it shows that when the public is obligated to vote they will most likely not pick the candidate that is most suited or one that goes with their personal beliefs and or governmental
