Homework should not be required
Many children have to spend hours every day doing homework. Some people believe that this will help the children's’ academic career. Others believe that homework is useless. I believe that the students should get an option, because they already have seven hours of school, homes can be really loud and distracting, and some teachers don't have the time to grade the assignments.
One reason for my belief is because students already have seven hours of school. So, the children already come home exhausted and don’t want to do anything. A reason for that is because kids brains and bodies’ aren’t fully developed and need a lot more sleep than adults do. For example, kids need a lot more sleep and exercise
Schools should have later start times. Students need more sleep so students do not grow up to have a health risk. This example proves that because According to The National Sleep Foundation “ Adolescents today face a widespread chronic health problem: sleep deprivation.” Also students do not perform at their best during school when they are tired. This example proves that because According to education.com “ I
Kids as of now go to school for eight hours and their brain tends to shut down, causing health complications. It’s not safe for children to inherit these health complications at an earlier age. They will not be able to accomplish the academic success that they intend to do. Homework is suppose to increase the learning capacity of the student and not disservice them
Would students be able to improve their grades if they were getting paid? Money is a great reward for most students and it could possibly have a long term effect on students. They are always wanting their grades to be improved and then they would have more of a reason to study for test and quizzes if they were getting paid do go to school. Students would be focused at school if their was money to be made by going to school. Teachers would also not be stopping as often because of students getting of track. I believe students would improve their grades if they were getting paid because, Money could have a long term effect, and more student could need a little more motivation
Most people would agree that homework takes a lot of time after school and out of their daily lives. 7 hours of the 24 hour day are spent on school. Then including, the average amount of hours spent on homework everyday which is 3.5. That equals 10 hours of the 12-18 hours students are awake in the day. Additionally, an average student gets about 7 hours of sleep each night, when scientists have proven that teens need at least 9 hours. There are simple and easy solutions to these problems, one is to take away homework for students. This would help issues like, no sleep, bad grades, cheating, not being with family enough and more! 79% of the people that took the debate.org quiz thought that homework should be banned. This survey included teachers, students, and parents. There are many students that do sports or after school activities and have not a lot of time for homework. Nearly 6 out of 10/ 57% students do after school activities. As a personal experience, I know that I have cheer practice most nights for two hours each. This leaves only a tiny amount of time I can spend on homework, concluding in me having to stay up later to finish it all. The time you spend on homework each night, could be spent on getting exercise or spending time with people to become better human beings or getting greater social skills. If kids are always busy, they don't get enough sleep. Too much homework also could cause bad grades or kids to attempt to cheat on tests because not always knowing
The concept of homework was created to help students with their schoolwork. Getting extra work for home allows students to truly understand what they learned during the day. It is additional practice for students and will help prepare them for tests and exams. Homework also teaches children important life skills such as responsibility and perseverance. Students will have to be responsible to get their homework done on time and with good quality. Even when students don’t want to do homework, it teaches them perseverance by helping them understand that some things that they don’t like will ultimately benefit them in the long run. These reasons, and more, all prove that homework shouldn’t be banned or
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get home, study a little, and just relax? Well most students have to deal with hours of homework when they get home from school. When I get home, I would rather do a little homework, relax, and spend time with my family. Not spend the rest of the day doing homework, when you already have 7 hours of school. I believe that giving homework is crucial to students who want to have a life outside of school.
Students aren't the only ones who stress out about sports but also the school district. The school district has to pay for all of the sports equipment and not just for one school but for all of the district's schools. ‘’In many schools , sports are so entrenched that no one realizes their actual cost’’ (2). The school has to pay for new bleachers which is half a million dollars and they also pay for the care of the field which also cost a very large amount of money. It stands to reason that schools should use their money for learning and not for sports and use it for more helpful things. Students might not think about the cost it takes but they still spend a lot of money to get the sports prepared.
Have you ever gotten home after a long day of school ready to relax only to realize you have homework to do? Millions of kids around the world go to school for 7+ hours a day just so they can go home and do even more work. Students should not have homework.
In the debate homework good or bad I agree with the side of no homework. First, when homework is more time consuming then it maximises stress. Therefore, when kids have too much stress in their lives they can not want to complete work and act out. Clearly, it will cause stress if there continues to be homework. Second, It's not fair because some kids don't have the help or resources to complete the homework they are given properly. With that, kids will get worse grades on homework just because they don't have the help from parents or siblings that all the other kids have. Obviously, kids should not have homework if it is going to be unfair. Next, homework prevents responsibility and takes away from family time. So, kids will have a worse family
Have you ever had a load of homework due the next day but have a sports practice tonight? Well all of this stress can be avoided if there was simply no homework. Some parents and teachers may disagree with me, but I have three main reasons to abolish homework completely. Those reasons are homework brings a lot of bad things to kids from eating up free time for sports and other activities, to stressing kids out greatly, and affecting the kids physical abilities.
Kids go to school everyday for 6-7 hours a day, and are stuffed with things to memorize and ‘understand’ everyday until test day comes and they throw up all the information on the test, only to forget it after a week or so, because they don’t get tested on it again. These students also take part in a lot of “extracurricular” activities, and a lot of it may come from home responsibilities and sports. Homework, in this case, takes away from that time, filling up
Have you ever seen the amount of homework students get on a daily basis? When a student arrives home after an exhausting and stressful school day, you will usually see them sit at a table pulling out their homework with a nerve-racking look on their face. Piles of worksheets and assignments rise to the ceiling while the pupil complains that he is exhausted and does not have enough time to complete his homework. I strongly believe that students should not have to complete homework as a student’s stress and fatigue is often rooted in the amount of homework received. Furthermore, it disturbs family life and limits a child’s time to play and socialize. Moreover, homework keeps students up late at night, negatively affecting their health.
Moreover, doing more work after going to school for more than 6 hours is quite tiring and hectic. Kids want to be able to relax a little bit and do their own thing after a long day of school, and not have to worry about work. Most parents go to work during the day, and get to come home after a long day not having to do any more work and also relax on the weekends. Kids should also be entitled to the same thing and be free to do whatever they desire after school and during the weekend. Students are already learning throughout the whole day and working their brains, for approximately 6 hours, and need to rest their brains, as it is very important to do so. As Manfred Kets De Vries said said, “By giving the brain downtime we can improve mental health and allow ideas to incubate” (The Importance of Doing Nothing). This is very true but many people don't seem to realize the importance.
Have you noticed how co-curricular activities have been dropping in size and inconsistency of attendance they? Well if you haven't more and more kids are starting to lose track of how they are really spending their time when they get home from school. According to digital commons, 6/10 students either do their homework and then go straight to their electronics or just go to the screens at their house. Even after being on your phone all day you think kids would be tired, but as soon as they hear the ding they have to get up. They are kind of like cops if they get the call they are there much as if the kid here's the ding they are repliying to the text. Which leads to sleep deprivation for kids and with only 2-6 hours of sleep a night can lead to a drop in grades and no one wants a drop in grades.
Many school children receive a lot of homework. Does this homework benefit the child? Do you think homework serves a useful purpose?
