Legalizing Marijuana in America
Six year old Charlotte Figi is a walking miracle who suffered from a type of untreatable epilepsy that made her have 50 or more seizures every night until her parents got her a medical marijuana card in Colorado that allowed her to get CBD oil. Immediately after the first dose of high cannabis oil the seizures stopped and Charlotte came out of the catatonic state. Before the cannabis oil, her parents tried every medication out on the shelves to cure her, some of them nearly ended with death Seizures are one of many illnesses in the world today that can be cured through marijuana. Even though some say marijuana is a gateway drug, it should be legalized because there are legitimate medical benefits, it would save the government money, and it would decrease crime.
According to National Institute on Drug Abuse, “early exposure to cannabinoids in adolescent rodents decreases the reactivity of brain dopamine and could help explain the increased vulnerability for addiction to other drugs. For example, rats previously administered THC show heightened behavioral response not only when further exposed to THC, but also when exposed to other drugs such as morphine –a phenomenon called cross-sensitization.
