First of all, If schools start at 9 then students at middle school won’t say things like what Emily Manwiller told me she told me “Yes! I do think schools should start later, because when you don’t get enough sleep you don’t think straight.” Erin Schrader also told me “Yes, because to early in the day kids don’t think right.” Already 2 students told me yes because of schools being too early in the morning and students being tired. If students are tired and fall asleep in class then they would get in trouble. If they fall asleep day after day they might get a detention, but if schools for middle and high school started at 9 they would feel refreshed and is able to stay awake during the school

To begin with, school should start later because children will be more focused while learning. As per the article Teens May Do Better When School Starts Later in time.com by Amanda MacMillan, “It asserts that if middle- and high-school students are allowed to wake up later in the morning, they’ll be more focused during the day, more alert behind the wheel and less likely to be late to (or absent from) school.” This means students will be more attentive and willing to learn because they will have had enough sleep. This will lead to better grades. Therefore, starting school later can help the children focus in school because they won’t be sleepy.
When I went to high school, class would start every day at 7:45 am which would require me to get up at about 6 am every morning. As a result of that, I would go to school feeling restless, exhausted, and I cared more about getting through the day more than actually learning in class. This lead me on to feeling poorly almost every day and made it difficult to balance catching up on sleep and getting my school work done. If you were a teen once you might be familiar with this struggle. Even though this a reality that most teens including myself have faced, it has been discovered that it has more negative effects than you might think. Not everyone would agree, but I believe if school start times were later, it would highly benefit the students academically.
My reason why I think school should start later is so students and staff can get more sleep.Getting more sleep can help you stay focus. When you are focus you are learning and comprehending. When you are not focusing the teacher will get mad. Also when you get more sleep you are focus more and when you are focus you will get better grades.
