There have been many discussions on weather students should have homework. Some people agree that homework should be given, while others believe that it shouldn't be given. This essay will give a viewpoint on why students should all be assigned homework. Test preparation, developing question in class, and extra practice are reasons why students should have homework.
While students are attending school most classes will require them to learn different lessons they’ll be given quizzed and tested on. Teachers only have 1-4 hours face to face with their students, so, this limits them to what they can teach in class. However, having homework assignments benefits both the teacher and students, because it shows the teacher what she needs to continue to go over, and the students because it helps them develop better study methods that'll help them on their upcoming quizzes and tests. In some classes quizzes and tests holds a higher percentage on a student's final grade for the course, therefore, so being assigned homework will better make sure that students perform well.

Most than often at times students in the class have the same questions that my need to be answered in class. While reviewing the homework the questions that the teacher cannot make clear for some students to understand; their fellow classmates may be able to step in and help them understand better. This also benefits the teacher so she won't have to spend unnecessary class time teaching the same things over. With the questions that are developed this helps gets the class actively communicating with one another. Overall developing questions have benefits that'll help the student and
Despite bearing some minor similarities, the differences between the arguments for more or less homework are remarkable. It is important to see both the positive and negative viewpoints, because homework is something that every student will have to deal with. It can be stressful with extracurricular activities and at some points may seem useless. However, homework is beneficial for understanding the material, and keeping kids out of trouble. Overall, I believe that even though homework may be excessive at some points, it can be extremely beneficial for the future.
One pro of homework is that it make up for the not enough time students go to school and learn. Even though teachers give students activities to do in class, giving them assignments to do at home can give them a better understanding on the subject. Advocates believe that giving students that extra time to solve problems is an important to their learning. Homework is also an effective way for students to learn discipline. Giving homework is one way of teaching young individuals and growing students to and put aside unimportant activities and getting their tasks done. Not giving students school work can lead to them being lazy. Another benefit is that parents can see
Students should not have homework because teachers have seven hours in the day to teach in the day that should be plenty of time to teach us in the day for whatever we need to learn and homework gets in the way of people’s sports. Students also have to stay up late at night to finish their homework and that might cause kids to have sleeping problems and then they wont work as hard in class because they are
Everyday, when the school day is over, students are most likely to get homework to do when they get home. This can be a lot or a little amount of homework, but it can still effect the students the way they are. These effects can be good, bad, or nothing, so today, we take a look whether homework should be assigned or not.
Have you hated having homework?, wouldn’t you rather do something fun instead of staying up late doing homework?(Rhetorical Question) There should be little to no homework because it interferes with after school activities, some students do not have the time to do it (or will not do it anyway) and it is more work the teacher has to grade.
Shopping at the mall and hanging out with friends is much more important than doing homework. Why are students required to do homework anyway? It’s a waste of time so they should not be required to do homework. Homework is causing stress, which is resulting in students spending less quality time with their families as well as with their friends. It is also causing students to feel burned out and to not be engaged with school as they should be. Even though students need to learn how to manage their time more effectively, including budgeting time to complete homework assignments, they should not be required to do homework. Students should not be required to do homework because it stresses out students.
Students have no time for homework with extra curricular activities. Homework should be done in school and not at home. Here are a few reasons on why students should not be given homework by teachers.
When a class is almost over and a teacher starts assigning homework, every student's heart drops. When students have an excess of homework, they do not do as well. Even though homework is a good tool to help teachers teach students subjects, teachers should give less homework because too much homework causes mental health issues in students and less homework helps improve test scores.
My first reason is homework can give time for kids to do other things like texting, playing video games, and not being bored of doing nothing. It can also give students the ability to remember major things for a test increasing their grades and so on. It can free them from boredom and keep them distracted on the homework. It can give them the potential to do something challenging instead of just slouching on the couch and doing nothing. The author stated on source 2 on paragraph 6 it explains to us ''With the evolution of technology and myriad of gadgets and computer games to keep
As you can see, there are many reasons why teachers shouldn’t assign or give homework.Think of all the time and money schools will save!!!They won’t even need to pay to have a copier/printer. Students won’t use up as much paper, which is good for the environment.Teachers will have way more time to relax during the whole week because they won’t need to be correcting papers all of the time. Oh,and did I mention that no homework improves the focus of the students? What more could a teacher want? That's why I think that we should zap homework out of the school
Firstly homework is not proven to be beneficial. Homework does not prove to be beneficial as teachers have monitored their students grades and have found that if children from kindergarten to year 7 get more than 30 minutes of homework, their grades can decrease as they spend more time on homework that won't help them. As well as grades homework can cause family tensions as well because parents may force their child to do
Homework is a huge role in your education, many kids think that teachers like to annoy kids by giving them homework. They do not look at the positives, homework can result in you getting a job, money, business, etc. Less than one percent of students say, “homework is stressful,” now those students will struggle to be successful. for example, Steve Jobs was successful but he had to struggle to get to his spot. homework can result in learning to take responsibility for his or her actions, teaches you to
Yet, homework does have an advantage, it can build good study habits and grades. Homework helps boost test scores tremendously. Since it’s a practice assignment, students get a view of what they’ll be learning. “Practice assignments do improve scores on class tests at all grade levels” (Cooper). Students can fully understand their new lesson when provided with homework. Everyone knows that by practicing something, they can get better at it. This is the same idea with homework, students practice, and eventually get pleasing grades. Although all grade levels can benefit from homework, it is really beneficial to high schoolers. “If a country like the U.S were to decrease the amount of homework assigned to high school students, test scores would likely decrease unless additional supports were added” (O, Furniture). Unlike other countries, homework is a major part to lead to success. This proves that students, especially high school ones, need homework to achieve the desirable scores they want. Homework is also a great way to study for a test. “Beyond achievement, proponents of homework…claim it can help students develop good study habits so they are ready to grow as their cognitive capacities mature” (Cooper). Studying is a huge part in getting a pleasing grade in the subject. When a student studies homework, they can comprehend what is being taught more clearly. This will
“Homework requirements foster the development of time-management skills, initiative, and discipline—habits that will help students their whole lives.” (Homework). Students should have homework because it will teach them while they are young, how to manage their time in the real world and how to create time for their family and activities that they like to do.
The general arguments given by teachers and some parents are that homework increases the overall grade averages, sharpens study habits, and helps students become more prepared for college work. Along with that, it helps students learn responsibility for life in the work field of the real work. Although these arguments are valid, there are arguments against homework as well. Homework causes students to be stressed out when there is too much to be done by a certain deadline and takes away the free time of students. Some of the work that students are assigned isn't relevant to what they are studying. Worst of all, it causes that struggling student to lose interest in the study of that subject ("Students and Homework"). While it does have negative outcomes, homework also has it's perks.
