Many schools around the world are now allowing their students to use cell phones during class. Even though, students may use their cell phones to cheat on a test or other work they may need to do. They might also get distracted from doing their work if they receive a message or start playing games. Cell phones are one of the biggest distractions out of hundreds. Cell phones may also disturb other students in the classroom who may need that class to graduate or for a bachelor's degree. Students have to have a failure in life to learn new things; therefore, cheating is not the answer. Schools should not allow students to use cell phones during class because many students take advantage and use them to cheat. A scientist has now proven that cell phones are now one of the biggest ways for students to cheat. Although, cell phones are not the only way students can cheat they are a big part of it. They might text another student in that class and ask them for answers or ask them to come help them. Then the other student will tell them the answers and then they both will be cheating. Many teachers give study guides out the day before they give a test out. These study guides are very similar or the same as the test. Some students may go home and take a picture of the study guide that the teacher gave them and then come to school and use it to cheat on their test. Then they may tell their friends they have a picture of it and send it to them. They could also cheat
I understand that there may be the risk of cheating on quizzes or tests with using mobile phones, but if teachers monitor where the testing students go on the phones, cheaters can be caught and there will be
Letting kids have phones in school would be great, here is a few reasons why. When you go to school and you have an emergency you can use your phone. Also, teachers can use it for assignments and it will be faster. If you don't let students use them they will be at a disadvantage. Schools should let students use phones because, they can look up facts quicker and easier, save schools a lot of money, and teachers can use it for academics. Letting kids have phones will improve kids everyday life at school.
Are you always on your phone? Either Snapchatting, on Instagram, scrolling through your twitter feed? It can be pretty temping to pick up your phone and do this stuff in class but you can use them in good ways in school. George Washington Middle School currently has cell phones banned in class. Although most teachers think that cell phones are a distraction, cell phones should be allowed in class because students feel anxious without their phones, there are many educational uses, and allowing phones is more convenient.
I believe that students should not have phones in middle school. I believe this because there are a lot of disadvantages of having a phone in middle school. Some of the disadvantages are distractions, fear of losing the device and being less social.
Kids shoud have phones at school for several reasons. They can help kids at school with several things too
Phones at school can be used for cheating, phones can be used as cheating devices during exams. Students would say that they would want phones at school but phones at school can cause a distraction
According to Lenhart, in 2012 three quarters of teens, ages 12-17, owned cell phones. Of those teens, twenty three percent of them indicated they possessed a smartphone. With the technology advancing in cell phones, it has become yet another classroom distraction and a serious concern for cheating. With cell phones on hand, it has created an easy way to become distracted during class. Assistant Professor Campbell from the University of Kansas brought to attention, “one study found that a third of university students in the US play video games on their mobile phones and laptops during class (Gilroy, 2004 as cited in Katz, 2005).” The majority of researchers have found that mobile phones have lead to problematic use in the school environment
teenagers in school, and it resulted in various school administrators debating whether or not they
Should kids in elementary and high school have phone’s? This is really hard to decided but I think that kids in elementary should at least have in 5th grade and above. In high school they are more mature with thing’s so high school they should be able to have phone’s it can help them with math, english etc.
Many students have used their cell phones to share answers to tests and quizzes, and to report inaccurate and offensive information about other students and their school. Cell phones can be distractions in the school environment, evading classroom time and reducing student’s academic success.
Every teacher has a different policy on cell phone use in class. In past years, cell phones were essentially banned from classrooms while more recently teachers have been more lenient with their policy. Educational devices such as computers and online learning have been embraced by many school districts, while cell phones which offer the same effect on learning have been outlawed. Advancements in technology can provide students with a new learning tools where the learning tools will be used in the real world. Students who use cell phones to access research information are able to reach a wide variety of current information. Teachers are also able to teach students the proper way to use cell phones in a professional setting. Cell phones can also raise engagement levels in classes. In the article Cell Phones in the Classroom by George Engel and Tim Green, “There was an observable rise in class participation when cell phones were used in the class” (44). While cell phones were once considered a distraction, the way society uses cell phones has changed. Likewise, the purpose of cell phones has shifted from solely communication to a variety of benefits. Cell phones should be allowed in classrooms for educational uses because there are so many different ways to learn and study using them.
Cell phones have advanced in technology tremendously over the years. There has also been some contradiction as whether or not cell phones should be banned in schools. Some people, such as the author(s) of “Schools Review Cell Phone Bans,” (2009) say that cell phones are a distraction to students while trying to learn; while other authors, such as the author of “Cell Phones in the Classroom,” (2010) Marie Bjerede, say that cell phones offer students the ability to branch out of text books and retrieve information from the internet right from a smartphone. When interviewed, Hunter Khaleghi, a student
Many students will play on their phones and not pay attention to the teacher and the lesson that the teacher is giving. Students are sent to school to learn and by playing with cell phones during classes students are not learning anything that will help them with a career or their futures. Students can also text friends in other classrooms and not have their minds in the classroom that they are in. Students may eventually stop coming to school because they can just stay home and use their cell phones and do other things.
Smartphones have become a part of everyone’s body. Almost everything can be done through smart phones. Paying bills, doing grocery, buying food, and more time consuming tasks can all be done almost instantly by smartphones. Many jobs and institutions today do not allow the use of smartphones during a certain time, especially schools. Prohibition of cell phones in school is a good idea to prevent students from getting distracted. However, high school students should be allowed to access their cell phones at school, because high school students are mature enough to use their cell phones productively and beneficially. Having access to internet is very important to high school students. Many students could not afford to have all kinds of devices, such as laptop, tablets, and cell phones. Entirely banning the usage of cell phones can make students hate the school causing them to be more arrogant.
Cell phones aren’t usually that big so it gives the students a great opportunity to cheat. Most of the time during a test, students go to different websites to look for answers .Since they get free Wi-Fi in classrooms; it even becomes easier for them to cheat. In addition to that students can also trade answers with other students in class through Facebook, sms, kik, message and other social apps.Nowadays, cell phones have become one of the most useful source in America. In other words, a month earlier, I was looking through some photographs in my library class .The pictures were about students who cheats on class works, tests, quizzes and homework and can even go to Gail for plagiarism. On the other hand, today’s students take this as a joke. They don’t realize how it affects their grades. You can cheat a lot in life but one day there will be nothing to cheat from or anyone to get the answers from. In spite of this it is not always mandatory for someone to depend on a source more than themselves. This was another reason to explain why students should not be allowed to bring cell phones to school.
