Similarities And Differences Between The American Wedding Vs. Indian Wedding Traditions

There are many similarities and differences between the American wedding tradition and an Indian wedding tradition. Indian weddings have different attire, the groom doesn’t wait at the altar, and there isn’t a priest to facilitate the marriage. Though they have differences, they also have some of the same activities involved in the wedding. Both traditions have a get together at the end, both have pre-wedding ceremonies, and during the wedding someone has to give the bride away. The rings symbolize love, devotion, and an agreement between families. Some rings that are exchanged have diamonds, some don’t. Some of the rings also have words engraved on them like “I love you” or “Be mine forever”. Most wedding actually have diamonds in them because diamonds are meant to last forever just like the marriage. Some rings will have rubies because they symbolize love as well as the rings itself.
Even though India and America itself have their differences their wedding traditions are a little similar in some way. An Indian wedding does have a reception at the end and so does the American wedding. On the same article on page 6 it says that the bride and the groom’s side, hold a reception for family and friends. They may combine it with the wedding or may hold it separately. People come to offer their greetings to the newly wedded couple.
The American weddings are exactly the same, but whoever puts together the wedding is usually the one who pays for the reception. This is where everyone dance, give their toast, say good things about the bride and groom, and where everyone drinks and have fun. Also at the reception is when the broom takes the garter off the bride and where the bride throws her
