Going into 9th grade was a little scary. I did not know where any of my classes were, I did not know a lot of the students, and I did not know any of the teachers. Since I know what is most important for an incoming freshman to do in order to have a successful and fun freshman year, three ways to maintain a successful year is to get ALL work in on time, DO NOT SKIP CLASS OR SCHOOL, and build a good relationship with teachers and classmates. First, in order to maintain a successful year in highschool is to get all work in on time. At the beginning of the year, I never got any of my homework done on time in math class. When she told me she put in all my work, all I saw was a lot of missing assignments. When I checked my grade in the class, …show more content…
My friend that I have classes with always skips class. She gets calls home about her always skipping. She also always gets detentions and suspended for skipping. Now that I know skipping class can get me in a lot of trouble, I would never skip a class. This shows that skipping class can end up with bad consequences. Another reason it is important to not skip class is because falling behind in a class or all classes is hard to get the grade back up, even skipping school for two days can make the person that skipped fall behind. This shows that skipping school or classes can make it possible to take the class/classes all over again, and that means having to listen to all the same things and doing all the same assignments again, and skipping school or classes can make trouble with the teacher and parents. Skipping school is a bad idea and can even get the Police/Law involved. Being smart and not skipping classes can help with attendance, and colleges look at attendance, because colleges want students that have a good attendance and good grades. This is the second reason on how to maintain a successful and fun freshman school …show more content…
When I started falling behind in Algebra 1B, I got mad at the teacher and started to not to listen to her, when it was my fault not hers. My grades started going down and my classmates did not like me because I was being mean to them also, and when I needed someone to study with for a hard test that was coming up, nobody would study with me. This shows that even if the class is starting to get frustrating, getting mad at people that did nothing wrong can come back like karma in the long run. Another example of why it is important to build a good relationship with teachers and students is because I have met a lot of cool people that I thought I wouldn’t like at the beginning of the year. Going into my freshman year of highschool, I wanted to keep the same friends, but what I found out about highschool is that I did not have my close friends in my classes, some people are lucky to have at least one of their friends in their class. I didn’t want to make new friends, but by getting over it and talking to some new people, I have met really awesome people that I am glad to call my friends. This shows that making new friends can be a help for staying happy and talking to new people can help find a life long partner. This shows the third way of how to maintain a successful school year. In conclusion, in order to maintain a successful and fun freshman year like I
Being a freshman can be quite intimidating, especially because you are at the bottom of the totem pole. You are worried about finding the right classrooms, impressing teachers, sometimes maintaining your grades. I can tell you from a senior standpoint that things aren’t as bad as they seem. Yes, teachers will pile on the homework once and awhile, but I promise you will survive. As graduation day is approaching fast than I want, I have a little advice for freshman. Freshman you need to take your grades seriously because they will impact your future, you may think you know everything, but trust me you don’t, and most importantly is to have fun because before you know it you will be writing this same timed writing as I am right now.
Eighth grade and ninth grade are nothing alike. They are not alike because in eighth grade the eighth graders are the oldest students there. It is also different because since they are the oldest they get the most respect. In ninth grade the ninth graders are the youngest and get the least respect. In ninth grade or freshman year the students are new to the school and you don't really know anyone but your friends. To get through your first year as a freshman you must make a lot of friends and have good relationships with all your friends. Something that can help make you many friends is joining clubs or teams.Another way to get through freshman year is by helping other students on homework and classwork. If you are done with classwork
Being able to build positive relationships with others helps children and young people to gain the most from being in school and is important to ensure the communication of information between children and the adults responsible for them. We are more likely to build a positive relationship with someone when we can communicate effectively with them.
When not going to college you are losing a significant amount of money. Data and proven facts have shown that a numerous amount of people who chose to take the path of not going to college and going into a career directly out of high school are not as successful as people who go into college right after high school and get a degree. The number of people who decide not to go to college continues to decrease yearly which only hurts their lifelong income. By going to college and actually graduating you are guaranteeing a successful career and earnings.
A student wants to quit choir/band,but her mom will not let her quit. The only other way to quit choir/band is to exit during semester but the student just can not wait for choir/band.The student thought maybe it would be nice if they did not have to wait till semester to exit choir/band.This student could have a better use of their time but instead the student has to stay in this class till semester. This rule should be changed so that students don’t have to go to classes they don’t enjoy.”At least fifty percent of students end up quitting band or choir because they don't like it.”
When thinking about the future, college is usually the first option on student’s mind. It is the place to go if someone wants to have a successful life, but there is more than one way to get to a destination and that applies to life after high school to. College is important, but careful considerations need to be put in on the debt that would have to be paid back, the other options that are available that could earn as much as a person with a degree, and the stigma of not going to college because there are many different roads that can lead to success.
When you start high school in your freshman year it’s all about choices. Choices show how successful you will be in school. For example if you decide to ditch class a couple times, or just slack off on homework you will get that result. The decisions you make as a freshman is probably how you will act for the following years to come. So if you start off the 9th grade well you may get the outcome you need to be successful in high school.
Is everyone pressuring you to go to college right out of high school? Well news flash, you don’t need to go to college right out of high school so be successful and make a lot of money! There are a lot of people who are very successful and they either: didn’t go to college at all, or went to college and realized it wasn’t for them and dropped out. There are a few reasons you should not go to college: You don’t need college to be successful, you will save a lot of money, and you can go to the work force.
Coming to college I did the thing where you read article upon article on how to succeed and get good grades easily. The number one that kept popping up was making friends with your teachers should be your goal. Being friends meant you got special treatment and they would be lenient with you. But not all teachers are at school to create unbreakable bonds with their students, some are there to teach, solely teach, and nothing else. How do you articulate that and why are some professors so inclined to have their students know nothing about them?
Teenagers are expected to go from having their parents check them in and of school to being in college where nobody requires you to show up. Seth Miller, an admissions advisor at Eastern Washington University, remarks that “college students usually skip class just because it is the first time that feels like they can.” (The biggest addiction) Starting the habits early could be fundamental to many student’s success. I know you then might argue that then there would always be high schoolers skipping class. But I do not agree, because in high school there are true consequences to missing school. And having your parents check you in and out could always be put in place as a consequence to abusing the
The first reason that I am being procrastinate is because I sometimes cannot focus on my work, I always think that I still have 3 days or 2 days to work on it, so just go have some fun right now, is not a big deal. However, it end up with I don’t have time to do research because I always leave it till last day, which means I deserve a low grades because I didn’t work hard. The reason why am I being so procrastinate is because of my lack ability of self-control, I am so easy to get distract from other things such as video games, my friends, Facebook and so on. There is an example from my first year assignment from MGMT 1000, the assignment requires us to write 1500 words essay,
Ninth grade came a long and for the first day I was a bit scared because it's a whole new school with a lot more new people but I had Tiffany my best friend and Mikayla a very close friend of ours. Throughout classes I had people I knew so I felt safe and eventually made new friends along the way. The year was one of my best school years because I was able to be myself and was accepted. I have so many memories with Tiffany and her boyfriend last year as well with other friends.
Throughout my life I have been always searching for how to better myself and how to get closer to God. Growing up I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to go to Catholic Schools starting at the age of four years old and then ending it when I was eighteen. Attending Catholic Schools my whole life has helped me to prepare myself for what the future holds. Going to church every week during the school year I learned a lot about different types of passages and ways of dealing with my life. I have been attending West Valley for almost two years and I miss being able to have religion classes and going to church as a part of my daily schedule.
One thing I want to accomplish is to graduate from high school, so I can get my dream job. First of all, I want to graduate from high school. I need to be better at school by getting good grades. I want to accomplish reading class and be successful in my fluency. I will not restrict my homework. I plan to reach this goal by getting a diploma. I plan to get better at reading and writing. Asking people to help me and help my brother at school. I will perpetuate my knowledge. Finally,I will undertake pilot school. I will be capable to pass pilot school. I will be good at a radio communication and reading the controls. To become a pilot,I need to get over being motion sick. In conclusion, these are the reasons passing high
This year as a freshman the things I was successful was joining a club, and making myself better at language arts. Joining a club made me better with social skills, which I didn’t have and now I do. Also, Improving myself with Language arts made me feel like I accomplished something, because that was something I really struggled with. Even though I didn't have the best grades; I really learned a lot in that class.
