There is one thing in this world that you should not do and it is smoking cigarettes. They are really bad for you. What pleasure do you really get from smoking cigarettes. All they do is make your lungs black and nasty. Every drag you take you are taking time off you life. One little drag is filled with over four thousand chemicals. Forty three of those chemicals cause cancer. If your gonna smoke then why don't you mix four thousand different chemicals together and drink it. That is basically what you're doing when you smoke a cigarette. If you are going to smoke then why don't you cut out your lungs and throw them in the trash. Cigarettes don't only ruin your lungs. Broadly speaking, smoking worsens your health. But for some people who suffer from inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), smoking seems to relieve their worst symptoms. IBD refers to a handful of chronic gut diseases. Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, the two most-common forms of IBD, both result when a person’s immune system mistakenly attacks that person’s own gut. But while smoking cigarettes has exacerbates Crohn’s disease, it seems to alleviate ulcerative colitis. And yet, studies have observed that the more people smoke, the less likely they are to develop Parkinson’s disease. This inverse correlation was first observed in the 1960s by epidemiologist Harold Kahn. When he analyzed the health insurance records of nearly 300,000 veterans, Kahn noticed that smokers who had served in the US military between 1917 and 1940 were three times less likely than nonsmokers to have later died of Parkinson’s disease Smoking can have many health benefits. You could argue that it is good for you and that is what this paragraph is about. There are some chemicals in cigarettes that can prevent many deadly diseases but you are ten times more likely to die from lung cancer than someone who does not smoke. In a way cigarettes kind of balance out disease. It prevents some diseases and cause some. No matter what cigarettes can still kill you even if they prevent some diseases. In a way you should smoke and in a way you should not. I believe you should smoke to save yourself from deadly diseases. If you can prevent yourself from dying than you should do it. Cigarettes can be good if you are not a heavy smoker. By heavy i mean if you smoke ten packs a day then you are just killing yourself. One a day is not bad and will prevent many deadly disease. The most fascinating and widely recognized health benefit of smoking is its ability to seemingly alleviate symptoms of mental illnesses including anxiety and schizophrenia. According to an article published
Now, onto the topic of the supposed “life threatening” risks of smoking cigarettes that people have been so vocal about. People that smoke aren’t oblivious to these risks; they’re clearly printed on the front of every pack. If a smoker isn’t going to listen to all of these scientific sources, what makes them think they would listen to you? The truth is, most smokers know that smoking is killing them, and they should accept this fact willingly. Smokers get to experience the wondrous effects of cigarettes throughout their lifetime, and won’t have to live until they’re inevitable senility. Smokers know that living until they’re old is pointless, because when you’re old you lose even more relevancy than you had when you were young. Pick up smoking and die early, so that you can preserve your dignity instead of being laughed at as a feeble old man/woman. Furthermore, the world is overpopulated as it is; what’s a few lives taken from cancer here and there going to do? If anything, it will help keep the population in check.
Respiratory system (human body). First off, I don 't know why cigarettes are made? Its doesn 't
Regardless of consumer belief, smoking dramatically increases the chances of contracting many diseases - such as heart disease or high blood pressure. Although not every user experiences these diseases, it is well known that smoking can decrease one’s life time dramatically. The information given states, “It’s virtually impossible to escape the effects of tobacco” (Jordan). This stated, Jordan expresses that essentially if you use tobacco, there is a fairly high chance that one will damage his/her body in some way. Furthermore, there are many more diseases that can be contracted and the ones stated are only the most common. Continuing, the author explains the affects of smoking, “Expose to specific elements of secondhand smoke causes blood clot more easily and damages arterial lining” (Jordan). As stated, certain components in tobacco increase the chances of high blood pressure and blood clots to form in the body. Concluding, respiratory problems in young children can occur through second hand smoking, these include asthma. Children that asthma effect increases from smoke, “Asthma turns out to be about twice as common in children exposed to high levels of second hand smoke” (Secondhand Smoke: Is it a Hazard). Not only does tobacco smoke increase other diseases, it also increases the severity of diseases already contracted as shown in the previous quote. To conclude, tobacco smoke
It is a difficult thing to admit when you are wrong. So many people refuse to face the problem that their smoking is not only killing them, but also those around them. They have a million and one reasons as to why the rest of us should not care about what they are doing to themselves. However, all of those reasons are simply justifications for a habit that leaves everyone worse off. The result is always going to be one of regret and unhappiness. Whether it is a life threatening medical condition or, in the worst of cases, death; that seemingly harmless haze
Smoking can bring about lung infection by harming your airways routes and the little air sacs (alveoli) found in your lungs. Smoking can bring about lethal infections, for example, pneumonia, lung growth and emphysema. Additionally smoking causes 83% of deaths from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and smoking causes 84% of deaths from lung cancer (NHS , 2017) . However, there is a considerable measure of terrible illnesses connected to smoking cigarettes. Illnesses like throat malignancy, mouth tumour, bladder growth, lung growth, constant bronchitis, emphysema, and coronary illness are altogether brought about by smoking. Also smoking is addictive. Nicotine is the addictive substance
People that smoke are the people that get all the unhealthy stuff in a body like cancer and many diseases that can be caused.“If smoking persists at the current rate among young adults in this country, 5.6 million of today’s Americans younger than 18 years of age are projected to die prematurely from a smoking-related illness. Another 100,000 were babies who died of sudden infant death syndrome (often referred to as SIDS) or complications from prematurity, low birth weight, or other conditions caused by parental smoking, particularly smoking by the mother. “Smoking has been around for a long time. The problem with smoking became worse when “production climbed markedly when another cigarette-making machine was developed in the 1880s by James Albert Bonsack, which vastly increased the productivity of cigarette companies, which went from making about 40,000 hand-rolled cigarettes daily to around 4 million.” Smoking is a problem around the world because it causes lung cancer, many other cancers, and some horrible diseases. This problem should be solved because “More than 10 times as many U.S. citizens have died prematurely from cigarette smoking than have died in all the wars fought by the United States during its history.”
Crohn’s Disease is a chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal (“GI”) tract that can occur anywhere along the alimentary canal from the mouth to the anus. It is the second most common form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (“IBD”) after Ulcerative Colitis and can be hard to distinguish from it due to the overlapping signs and symptoms. They are not, however, the same. With Crohn’s Disease the inflammation most often occurs in the small intestine at the end of the ileum and continues into the beginning of the colon, but inflammation may be found in multiple places along the digestive tract at the same time with normal, unaffected areas in between the distended areas. Furthermore, the disease will spread through every
One of America’s leading cause of death is smoking. Smoking has been around for years and doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon. The effects of smoking harms about every organ in the body, for example: the heart, blood vessels, lungs, eyes, mouth, reproductive organs, bones, bladder, and digestive organs. Smokers use that “it’s my body, I do what I want,” The problem with that is smoking doesn’t just affect the person doing it. It harms other people in the ways; it’s called 2nd hand smoking. People who receive second hand smoking are possible to get a disease as a person who smokes regularly. It might not be as serve but will still be not good. Most people are trying to quit but aren’t trying hard enough without motivation. Smoking is one of the most common causes of death however quitting now will decrease your chances of disease and death.
Many people believe that smoking is good in many ways. They also think that smoking carries more benefits than not smoking. Smoking will help you make friends. Smokers congregate in very small areas and by doing this brings on a friendship. They exchange stories, exchange news, and enrich knowledge. Smokers all have something in common. They are discriminated against, and thus they quickly bond together. Smoking will reduce stress and anxiety. The calming effects of a constant nicotine supply in the bloodstream will reduce the
Have you ever wondered why people think smoking is so bad well, maybe one of the reasons could be because about 480,000 people die a year because of smoking. Smoking can be terrible for your health and some people still know that, but smoke because they think it is cool well many people are dying because of smoking. But there are many people who are out there who want to help people who smoke, but if you think it is not that bad one of the diseases you can get by smoking is a Lung Cancer. As you know smoking can ruin your health “Smoking is responsible for several diseases, such as cancer” ( Christian Nordqvist “Why Is Smoking Bad For You?”). This quote was saying that smoking can give us many terrible diseases that can kill us.
Have you ever been in a room full of people who are smoking? Have you ever questioned why they would put their health as well as yours in jeopardy by smoking? Did you ever think smoking could be good for you? Peter Brimelow says just that in his article “Thank You for Smoking…?” In Brimlow’s article, he explains all the health benefits smoking can provide you. Such evidence as that of D.M Warbutton, a British researcher who said that smoking stimulates alertness, dexterity, and cognitive capacity(141). Citing a number of scientific journals, Brimlow has also found that smoking can reduce the risk of developing such diseases as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s,
People should stop smoking because it can cause death. Smoking can cause death from the poison called Arsenic. People can die from the methane which is sewer gas. People can die from their lungs exploding with happens by the sponge in the cigarette traps the smoke and you inhale it.
To begin let’s talk about the many, many health risks that are caused from smoking. I’ll start off with the biggest consequence smoking causes. Cancer. According to the CDC.gov website, nine out of ten lung cancers are caused from smoking cigarettes. And although lung cancer is the most common cancer associated with smoking, it is definitely not the only one. Smoking can cause cancer anywhere in the body. From the mouth to the colon, nothing is safe from cancer when you smoke. According to betobaccofree.gov, the chemicals in cigarettes harm your blood cells and damage your heart, increasing your likelihood of developing aneurysms, cardiovascular disease, Coronary heart disease, and strokes. Smokers also develop mouth sores and ulcers and as stated on deltadentalins.com, smokers are about 4 times more likely than non-smokers to develop gum disease. Smokers experience muscle deterioration because blood and oxygen are restricted and can’t reach the muscles.
People should stop smoking cigarettes because it is very unappealing. Smoking cigarettes is bad not only for your health but for your outer appearance. You will have bags under your eyes. According to John Hopkins study, smokers are four time more likely to feel unrested after a night’s sleep compared to a nonsmoker. Nicotine in the cigarettes can cause your teeth to lose the whiteness and actually make your teeth yellow. Not only will your teeth turn yellow, so you’re your fingers. Smoking also leads to premature aging and wrinkles. Smoking cigarettes you have a higher chance of lose teeth due to dental problem caused from the harmful chemicals in cigarettes. One could argue and say that smoking is cool because all of their friends do it. Most smokers that are addicted started smoking in high school. About 39.4% to 30.1% of high schoolers smoke cigarettes. Kids get peer pressured into smoking to “fit in” and then end up addicted. Adult smokers grew up hearing that smoking cigarettes were ok. In the early 1950’s tobacco companies started booming. Back then cigarettes could be advised on television and could even
Even though we are told the negative sides of tobacco many do not tell us if there are any advantages of smoking. The tobacco plant has more to offer then just a certain death. Tobacco may provide a different relief or prevention for some diseases in certain individuals. The most recognized health benefit of smoking is its ability to seemingly improve symptoms of mental illness, including anxiety and schizophrenia. People with these mental illnesses use smoking as a self-medicating kind of method. Several academic sources confirm that the risk of Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease is unexpectedly superior in non-smokers than in smokers. The University of Melbourne established that tobacco itself is a strong appetite suppressant and many were using it to self-treat compulsive overeating disorders and obesity.”Cigarette smoking has also been linked to a decrease in risk of certain inflammatory disorders, since nicotine itself appears to be an anti-inflammatory agent” (Russo, 2011, p.1). Because of tobacco smoke being anti-inflammatory some beneficial effects come to children who are exposed to secondhand smoke. “Sweden observed two generations of Swedish children and found that the
