Why We Should Smoking Be Banned

Smoking is an activity that has been around for many years for people to use and adapt into their lifestyle. It is a tool that many people use to help reduce the stresses of life and put them in a comfortable position that enables them to cope with the hectic lifestyle they are living. However, smoking has been scientifically proven to cause many types of cancer, the most common being lung cancer resulting in numerous deaths across the United States. Cigarettes and other tobacco products should be made illegal because of the economic effects, addictive properties, secondhand smoke, and can lead to disease and/or death.

One of the largest and most problematic health issues in our society is smoking. Smoking is currently the leading cause of death in our country, due to its harmful and addicting contents, such as nicotine and tobacco. Although millions die from it each year, smoking is the single most preventable cause of death as well. Without smoking, a tremendous amount of money and lives will be saved. I think that our country should ban smoking and the production of cigarettes in order to maintain a healthier nation, help save the environment, and prevent the almost 1000 deaths that they cause in fires each year.

This year alone cigarettes will end up killing over 500,000 Americans, and many more will suffer from different types of cancer, circulatory, and respiratory system diseases, due to smoking cigarettes. Cigarettes have been known to cause these illnesses for a long time. The FDA has proven that nicotine, one of the main chemicals in cigarettes, is addictive. This explains why smokers continue to use cigarettes even though they are aware of the health dangers that come from smoking cigarettes. Researchers have also found out that when people smoke by pregnant women it causes the deaths of over 4,000 babies and 110,000 miscarriages. The only way to prevent death by cigarettes would be to ban them.

Smoking is the inhalation and exhalation of the smoke of burning tobacco. Historically, it was thought that smoking was harmless, but more modern, clinical and laboratory research proves that it is, in fact, extremely dangerous. Tobacco cigarettes should be illegal in the United States due to their plethora of negative effects on the population and the environment. If cigarettes were banned, the country would be a much better place. Pollution, diseases and fatalities would dramatically decrease, while productivity, financial stability and overall health would increase.

Cigarettes should be illegal because it harms you by raising the risk of lung cancer. It causes lung cancer by affecting the lungs. Nicotine, which is a major chemical, can turn your teeth and nails yellow. The smokers also refuse to stop, they think it’s only hurting them. Harming the smoker is one step, but the cigarette can just do more than that.

Smoking is very expensive for the average nonsmoker. Every year we all have to pay taxes.

Tobacco is a very negative substance. It has caused many deaths in the past 100 years in the United States. The CDC says that they’re 480,000 deaths in the United States each year (Health Effects of Cigarette Smoking). There are many forms of tobacco such as cigarettes, menthols, e-cigarettes, hookahs and shishas, dissolvables, bidis, and cigars. The government should ban tobacco products in the United States because it has negative effects to an individual's health, they’re also very expensive, and cause harmful pollution to the Earth and its inhabitants.

Smoking is an expensive habit. People who smoke cigarettes can spend as much as $2,500 a year on them. Smokers’ claim that it helps relax them and it releases stress but the negative aspects of smoking outweigh the positive. Smoking is a health hazard for smokers and non-smokers. Smokers should have the right to choose what to do with their own health but they should respect non-smokers. Many people believe that there are good and bad outcomes from smoking. I believe that smoking is bad and that it should be banned.

Cigarettes aren't just bad for our health their bad for the environment to. Cigarettes pollute the air and can cause animals and people to get sick. Also about fifteen billion cigarettes are being smoked everyday, that means 1,643,836 trees are being cut down everyday. This information is stating that a cigarette will take five to ten years to decompose. Also showing that cigarettes affect the environment around us. In addition to that lots of cigarettes are being smoked leading to several trees being cut down. So as a result cigarettes are bad for the environment and should be illegal.

Smoking should be banned in and out of the workplace, firstly because it is a recommended agreement by the management and all staff employed have signed an agreement, as this will impact on all workers and will be better for everyone's health and well being.

Cigarettes come with many damaging effects to not only the person using them but others around them. Many of the smokers in America are college students. With this being said, college campuses should not have to put up the effects of these harmful things. College campuses should remain smoke-free to remain free of the litter from cigarette buds, decrease second-hand smoke, and help people kick the habit for good.
