Times are changing, new technology is being invented, new things are trending, and it could be ruining children's childhood. Young children are too often being exposed to inappropriate things online, tv, and even at school. They are very easily influenced, so any little thing they see can affect their entire view on what is right and what is wrong. Children also spend endless hours doing nothing except staring at screens, which could lead to mental and/or health issues. New technology is making bullying easier at school and now at home. Modern culture is ruining childhood by exposing children to inappropriate things too soon, causing mental and health issues, and bullying. Social Media plays a big part in how kids act, what they think, what they say, and how they see themselves. People say children are like parrots, they repeat anything they hear or see, which is true, so anything they hear or see is repeated and usually at the most terrible times. There's evidence of this everywhere, whether it's a video on social media or just a walk through the park, there will be a child who is curses or restoring to the violence they've seen elsewhere. These words and actions are repeated by children starting at the age of two, and are often laughed at, "liked", or "favorited" on social medias. This behavior from young children is nothing to laugh about, and although some parents don't care about this. In Proverbs 22:6, the Bible says "Direct your children onto the right

Bullying has been around since the beginning of time. Parents may remember when they were kids and the bully would pick on them or their friends by stealing lunch money or just getting beat up, and that was the end of it. The victims remember the hurt, frustration, and sadness it caused. However, these days, bullying is not just happening on the playground or at the bus stop, it is happening on the Internet and on cell phones, making it possible to bully a child 24 hours a day with multiple bullies and thousands of kids watching. Cyberbullying follows children nonstop and into the safety of their house. Sometimes kids are afraid to inform their parents about the cyberbullying that they will think its there fault. Or that their parents will call the bullies parents or other parents, making the bullying worse. However, the effect and pain that comes from cyberbullying is real. People underestimate cyberbullying, just because it is happening online and not in person. Cyberbullying can lead to many different factors like drinking, and drugs, poor grades, depression, eating disorders. Many students have even taken their own lives because of another student saying something to them online. Cyberbullying has been taking place a lot more in middle and high schools because of the increased usage of social media networks and technology. Cyberbullying is worse and more harmful than traditional bullying.
Abigail logged into her Instagram account and poster her favorite picture of her and her best friends. She waited ten minutes and let the comments roll in. “Your so pretty!” “Beautiful… :)” “Omg your so cute!!” “Awww, I miss you guys!” Abigail then replied to every one of them, now feeling better than ever before. She felt way more confident in herself and appreciative of all the sweet comments her friends wrote. This shows how social media can help you become a better person, and it is worth the risk.

Is social media ruining children’s lives? Without the internet, I would be healthier and more active. I can’t imagine life without the internet however if we didn’t have the internet we would be outside more and we wouldn’t even think about phones because they wouldn’t be as fun as they are now. I would be upset if I got my phone taken away for a year, but that would force me to be more active. I would go outside more and be more adventurous. I would be healthier and happier and the world would be more social, face to face.

Instagram twitter and facebook are just some of the titans of social media. Once something happens to someone, a post comes up showing what happened or how it happened. When someone posts something they think is funny about someone else it could be hurtful. With parents owning instagram or twitter, their children definitely have been brought up once or twice. That is just normal, but other times those children have photos or videos of them doing something ridiculous or funny. “I really don’t like it when my parents post pictures of me on their social media accounts, especially after finding out that some of my friends follow them,” Said Maisy Hoffman an eighth grader in Manhattan. Teenagers and tweens are becoming more self conscious about
In addition, Martin makes the subtle claim that technology accelerates the rate of bullying, to the point where it is replacing physical bullying. It is noted that cyber bullying is nearly impossible to oversee due to the fact that children are not only intimidated of the social repercussions they will face from exposing their cyber bullies, but because they also fear that they will no longer have access to the internet. Finally, Martin claims that implementing anti-bully policies is not enough to combat bullying. Martin believes that the quality of these policies must be thoroughly regulated and consistently reinforced in order to have any legitimate effects in practice. The author concludes by repeating the statement that bullies and victims are considerably likely to have behavior problems, and briefly mentioning that a combination of being both victimized at school and home produces a significant chance of developing clinically defined sociopathic characteristics.
