There will be no changes to student concessionary card fares. The PTC said that the fare hike works out to about a rise of 15 cents per week for 85 per cent of commuters. YAHOO News Singapore (2011) reported that the fare increment of 1 percent will mean that the transport operators stand to earn $15 million in extra revenue.
The objective of this particular study is to see how Singaporeans have reacted towards the fare hike and also whether the increase in public transports fares is justifiable.
The Public Transport Council explained that the increase is timed to coincide with the opening of the rest of the Circle MRT Line. Even though the fare hike is less that half of the maximum increase of 2.8 per cent applied for by SBS Transit and SMRT Corp, Singaporeans still questioned the fare hike approved by the Public Transport Council. YAHOO News Singapore (2011), reported that “Within an hour of the announcement, over a hundred people left commands on Yahoo Singapore’s Facebook page”. Most of them are not particularly happy with the decision made by PTC. Currently, commuters have to jostle for personal space in the MRT during the morning and evening rush hours. During these times, commuters will be standing sandwiched between other passengers for the entire
The town of Halton Hill’s population includes the areas of Georgetown and Acton and other communities such as Erin, Oakville, Burlington and Milton regions. This is what is considered to be my community because these are the many places that I am visiting most often and they are always referred to together as “Halton Hills Region” (p.5, 2011). With the substantial increase in population in the Halton Hills region, more specifically Georgetown, there should be a strong demand for a public transit system to counteract all of the environmental disturbances that are being caused due to this increase. One of the things that is happening is that there are so many trees they are cutting down in order to expand and grow the population with houses being built. Statistics are showing that the population of Halton Hill’s region will expand by 54% over the next 20 years (p.5, 2011). By the year 2031, employment rates will increase by 75%, leaving Halton with 42,100 jobs being offered (p.5, 2011). With this rapid influx of citizens, this will only increase the demands of travel to get to these work places as well as other destinations (p.5, 2011). Over the past couple of year’s the traffic congestion on the major roads in Halton Hills such as Trafalgar Road and Regional Road 25 with individuals trying to get to and from work. There used to be very little traffic in these areas, however since Halton Hill’s has continued to expand, the utilization of automobiles has significantly increased due to the fact there is no public transit system. The Transportation Demand Management in Halton Hill’s is noticing the increase in automobiles stating that there needs to be a major shift in more efficient ways of transportation, yet there still has been nothing improvised (p.7, 2011). The Transportation Demand
Sociology is the study of social life and the change and consequences of human behavior. Human behavior is social in nature, the topic of sociology ranges from divisions of race, gender and sociology of work and sports. Toronto must further improve its public transit system. Firstly, improving transit reduces commute time as well as the amount of cars that are on the road. Secondly, people depend on public transit so an improvement would be a great convenience for many people. Lastly, the improvement of public transit will create less pollution in Toronto.
As a student coming from Vaughan to Union it takes the train every 30 mins to come to the Vaughan. Having less transportation causes inconvenience which draws to another issue when it comes to waiting for a bus for twenty minutes. For a change, we should have trains and buses come frequently in times of ‘rush hours’ at popular destinations. It saves people valuable time and they can get home earlier to their family. The government should upgrade their system for express transportation for those individuals who live far, from Union to Barrie or Union to Brampton. It takes about 2 hours with few stops in between. Having an upgrade system on express trains will benefit because 2 hours can be reduced to an hour or 30 minutes train ride. It will make people want to go to trains because it saves their time. They don’t need to use their car as a result it helps lessens the traffic for buses and have greater improvement opportunities to meet the desired areas foe
Sociology is viewed as the scientific study of society, it is a scientific study because the views presented in sociology is based upon empirical data (information gained from constructing detail research). How what makes
Competitors in the public buses industry includes GoAhead, Tower Transit and SMRT, all of which operates under the Bus Contracting Model whereby the Land Transport Authority (LTA) determines the bus routes that these buses operate, pays them a fixed fee to do so and retains the fare revenue. As such, SBS Transit will receive a smaller portion of the total fees given that they will be running lesser bus routes as compared to before due to the increased competition. They also ought to continue offering exceptional services to their passengers to stay ahead of the competition and prove to the LTA that they are able to take on more bus routes in

The experimentation and research that delves into the mind, social interactions, and the history of social cultures can all relate to why peoples and groups partake in certain social cultural practices. Sociology pertains to societies throughout time, being defined as the study of development, structure, and functioning of human societies. Anthropology is defined as the study of human societies and cultures and their development. These three fields of study work to explain behavior and its causes.
* The pricing questions show that customers are willing to pay between $10 and $14 for a single ticket which is the biggest market according to the survey results as mentioned above. The larger the ticket package, the more discounted the customers expect the price to be. The movement of people is a crucial aspect to consider in contemporary development, not only around the world, but within a single municipality. According to “Code Red”, an extensively researched article published in The Hamilton Spectator in 2010, the most underdeveloped area of Hamilton exists in its downtown district. The proposed Light Rail Transit system is a public transit project that could revolutionize the downtown core of Hamilton, Ontario and improve the city’s rate of urban development. This report will discuss and justify a proposal for a North-South route, including three stations/stops, and rejected routes and stations.

Leisure travelers overall will be made better off by the new fare structure. These travelers have more flexibility and can take advantage of the advance purchase discounts and Saturday-night stay discounts. An exception to this is leisure travelers who had found “loop holes” in the old fare system by using “creative ticketing” and waiting for deep discounts. These leisure travelers may pay higher rates because the deep discounts will no longer be offered.
