On a scale of 1-5 I believe that this week I was a 4.5. The reason I believe this is because on Tuesday I did pretty good in Spanish class because I was doing my menu mad I got Maoist of it done I believe. Also on Wednesday I got "The Beast Award" because I was checking someone that way they don't get hit by the bus HONK HONKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKk!!!!!!!! Then on Thursday even though I flipped my card because I couldn't bring the state float paper I at least didn't move a close pin *PHEW*. That's is why I believe I was a 4.5.
Jaun de Sepulveda only shows interest on one side of the story, which is the treatment of the Aztecs. (POV)
The Ap Spanish Language and Culture Exam contains two sections, each worth fifty percent of the final composite score. The first section is all multiple choice and the second section is all free response question. The first section tests over reading and listening, which it would evaluate how well one could comprehend. (30 questions, 40 minutes) The reading section contains multiple texts that is in a variety of forms. (Journals, Literary text, Letters, and etc.) After each text, there would be questions that tests one’s understanding of the materials, which includes vocab, author's purpose, main idea, and details. The listening portion of the exam contains two audios, one that is provided with printed materials, possibly the text, and one that’s solely the audio.(35
Spanish and English had similar motivations for exploration of the New World, such as gaining land, goods from the natives, and gold. However, their motivations also differ greatly. The Spanish conquistadors also gained slaves from the native people, as well as spreading the word of Christianity. The English settlers came to the New World to get away from the religious oppression in England and to practice religion freely, and to grow tobacco to send back to England. The Spanish gained much more land quickly because, upon landing in places like the Caribbean and Brazil, because of their conquering and enslaving of the natives. The English came to the New World much less prepared,
I attended the Required Live Class for Unit 1 on Jun 23 from 6-7pm. My teacher was Erin Melo and we reviewed major concepts of Spanish I and II. Together, we went over reflexive verbs, differences between ser and estar, saber vs. conocer, preterite, imperfect, por vs. para, and gustar. Something new that Mrs. Melo taught me is the acronym HOGSWEAT (Habitual, Ongoing, Growing up, Setting the scene, Weather, Emotions, Age and Time), where each letter stands for a use of the imperfect. This is going to help me a lot, especially since I’m unfamiliar with the imperfect tense. She also reviewed the use of reflexive terms, which was very beneficial to me. I was also confused on differentiating saber between conocer and she explicitly explained when
At my all-girls high school, I’ve always stood out for having a “thick accent”. Aside from not fully understanding English, being different has taught me how to be a creatively gifted, intelligent, and influential entity among my peers. Throughout the years, I grew frustrated with myself for being unable to speak clearly to my classmates. Additionally, my friends did not understand how I spoke, where I came from, or what I cared most about in my culture. This stood out to me to make a change and prompted me to take action towards it. In tenth grade, I became the founding Vice President of the Spanish Honor Society, an organization that executes community service and immerse students in the different Hispanic cultures. Our school was on the need for a display of diverse Hispanic cultures. For example, the school's student profile tends to show a racial disbursement of “51% African American, 40.4% Hispanic, and 4.5% White.” Additionally, that “40.4% Hispanic” for students is only “Mexicans.” Taking this issue, Spanish Honor Society (SHS) presents students with an exciting way to learn more about their diverse peers and their cultures such as music, food, and beliefs.
The Spanish conquistadors’ motives greatly affected the people living in the new world. These motives influenced the Native Americans in all different ways some ways better or bigger than others. Three of the biggest motives that effected the Native Americans were gold, Christianity, and glory.
Spanish is the most common second language in the world and the most popular language taught in the United States schools. One reason it seems Spanish is the most popular second language, is over 20 countries claim it as their first language and over 400 million people speak it. More people on earth today speak two or more languages. With numbers like that it seems we all should learn a little bit of this popular language.
The five-minute warning bell goes off. I rush to my first class of my junior year, eager to see my classmates, who I was going to spend the rest of the 9 months with. I find myself stumbling into a classroom plastered with decorations of Denzel Washington with a Dr. Seuss book in his hand, a t and college flags galore. My AP English 11 class suddenly seemed so appealing to me. As a beautiful, curly haired short lady stood in front of me and said “Welcome to AP English 11,” I knew that I had found a treasure so much greater than just a pretty classroom. Little did I know, that short lady was going to inspire me throughout my challenge filled second-to-last year of high school.
Anyone who studies Spanish will tell you it is an interesting foreign language. Not only because of the sound of it, pronunciations and the articulation but also because it is new to them. Spanish people do not study Spanish if they already know it. However, Spanish like other foreign languages has advantages and effects that are desirable and essential to a learner that one dare not ignore. Spanish is one of the most spoken languages in the entire world. It has millions of native speakers and more in different continents.
Recently I read the guidelines and requirements for the Spanish AP course. Upon reading I learned that the exam is over three hours, with two sections. Section one consists of sixty-five questions; fifteen listening questions, and fifty reading questions. Section two consists of four questions; two short answers, and two essay questions. The persuasive essay in section two seems the most difficult, especially in formal Spanish. The essays in general seem the most difficult in my opinion , as I have a hard time getting my point across in writing.
I gained a deeper understanding of my own privileges, such as being “white passing”, Latina and heterosexual. I understand that with having some privileges may bring some shame. I plan to write my own shame story in order to empower myself and become an effective and a strategic ally. I also felt insecure during the training, because a lot of the trainees were activist and I’m just a student; however, I plan to use this insecurity as a source of motivation to become more knowledgeable about social justice issues. This training also built an intense curiosity on looking at media conversations about racial issues and how white liberal racism is present in many media outlets.
When I was in eighth grade and my class was choosing our schedules for our first year of high school, I was told that for the diploma I wanted, I would have to take a foreign language. I chose Spanish, because I thought it would be easy. Little did I know that that decision would change my life forever.
Due to increasing competition in the field of medical testing it has become prudent for Laboratorio De Analisis Argentina (LAA) to evaluate its process and identify strengths and weaknesses to improve the operations of their laboratories. An in-depth investigation into day-to-day, step-by-step breakdown of activities has uncovered where, and how LAA can achieve efficient operations.
In the Sequence category, I scored a 16. I was actually surprised by this score being as high as it was. I'm not a clock watcher at all. I may show up to work 5-10 minutes late but I'm normally working through my lunch hour and after hours without hesitation. Generally I hate reading directions, not because I don't care about the requirements that's being asked of me, but solely I just want to get to the meat and potatoes of the matter. Just let me start on the assignment and get it over and done
Cuba is an island nation that was adopted in 1902. One third of it consists of mountains and rolling hills. It lies in the West Indies, and is said to be a beautiful island. Havana is Cuba’s capital, and the center of government for Cuba. Some important cities are Santiago de Cuba and Camagüey. Santiago de Cuba is near the south-eastern area of Cuba, and has a population of about half a million people. It’s considered the second most important city in Cuba, probably because it’s an important sea port. Camagüey is the fourth largest city in Cuba, according to Wikipedia. The symbol of Camagüey is a clay pot, mainly because there are clay pots everywhere. They can be very small, or very big. They’re used to capture rainwater to be
