I must admit that I have always looked at this type of course as being a complete waste of time. After taking the Learning Connections Inventory, I've discovered that I'm a Dynamic Learner according to the results of the questionnaire. It's totally shed some light on the how, what, when and why of my success and failures in my educational as well as personal and professional life.
In the Sequence category, I scored a 16. I was actually surprised by this score being as high as it was. I'm not a clock watcher at all. I may show up to work 5-10 minutes late but I'm normally working through my lunch hour and after hours without hesitation. Generally I hate reading directions, not because I don't care about the requirements that's being asked of me, but solely I just want to get to the meat and potatoes of the matter. Just let me start on the assignment and get it over and done

I'm totally not as precise as I'm confluent. I can relate things so well together, that most people would say, "Why didn't I think of that". When I was tutoring a young man in Geometry, I can recall telling him to think of an acute triangle as that cute girl in class that he liked and obtuse triangle as the big fat one. I know it wasn't a very nice analogy, but he got the point and passed Geometry with flying colors. It was all for the sake of helping him to learn. His mom had tried everything and had actually called the Board of Education to get help. She was at her wits end. He was the first student of many that I would tutor throughout my life. Never forgot him or that analogy. I still remember the smile that it brought over his little chubby cheeks. I believe that my confluent personality is what makes me more of a people-person especially on the job. It truly gets the conversations going in directions that can be going downhill really fast. But I guess this is why Confluence is an As Needed aspect of my learning
It developed a deeper sense of compassion within me and I wouldn't have the mind I have today without this course. By far this course was the most fun but was also challenging. I stayed for an eight hour session a weekend before the exam to review and it was indeed intense. I've learned so many things through Psychology and it definitely tested your ability to remember things. That was course was pure memorization and required a full understanding of the concepts as well. It was either you know it or you don't and the exam was the exact same
This course has affected me in my development as a student by helping ease into returning to school. I started this semester apprehensive because I have been out of school for 17 years. It is tough returning to school especially with technology having changed so much over the years; there was no such thing as online classes in 2000. This course has reacquainted me with my study habits and time management skills. Since the very first lesson in Unit 1, this class has showed me what is available on the Kaplan website for students to use. It also taught me to communicate online and general class information. This information is good for someone like me who is first-time online student. It also has helped me with my time management skills. It made me realize that I could make better use of my time. The adjustments I made in my time management has made me more productive, with balancing two classes, work and my home life.
This was what influened me a lot the philosophy, from any other electives course and general education courses because, I understood the real philosophy of life. All other courses, I learned alot, but somehow, this connected me and my life. These courses are really helpful in my daily life’s and I have used my skills and tact knowledge that I got from this program.
This course has taught me how I respond to traumatic events. For example, this past summer, I was demoted without warning from a job in which I was extremely invested in and passionate about. On day three of my job, I was suddenly transferred involuntarily from my position working with children with special
It is always important to look at something from a different perspective, and these courses can do just that. Students who use this knowledge can become more efficient and accurate with their work which is always a plus in today's fast paced world.
According to the learning connections inventory, a test that helps identify how you learn, I am a dynamic learner. Sequence(27) and precision(28) are both in the use first category. Confluence(22) is in use as needed. I was told to avoid technical reasoning(17) learning pattern.
After taking the quiz I received a score of a 38. I would agree with this score because I try to do my best at choosing an environment that will best suit me, yet there are still places I could improve in my study habits. When I am studying or doing homework, I either try to find a place in my home that does not have too much noise, or I will go to Starbucks. While I am doing my work I do not stay on one single subject for too long, in order to try and keep myself from getting frustrated or worked up. Doing this also helps me get more work completed, so I have time for sports and other activities. When being a student- athlete, there is a large amount that can stack up ontop of eachother and I have to learn how to manage everything. Time management plays a big role in the life of a student- athlete. To make sure I get everything done and I study the best way for myself, I have to manage how much time I spend on everything, stick to a routine, be engaged and proactive. In all, there are multiple ways that I can improve my study skills as a student- athlete.
How do you think developing this course helped to develop your knowledge of pedagogy? How about of supervision? Were there surprises?
The first thing I want to state is that I learned quite a bit from this course. This is probably one of the most challenging courses I’ve taken thus far in my college career. Most of tasks I’ve done in this course I have never done before and that’s what made it so challenging. I am use to taking courses that require me to study material from presentations and books. With this information I take exams and quizzes. This course was nothing like that. This course had me going out and networking with individuals outside of the university. The networking is the very first thing that stood out to me in this course since I am not really the outgoing/ people person. From networking I did learn a lot and met numerous interesting people that
The course helped me develop my interpersonal skills, collaborating with other students, preparing for presentations and addressing the class. I gained more confidence to present myself. Initially, it used to take me 3-4 days to summarize an article. To my surprise,
Making the decision to go to school online was a very challenging decision. I am very pleased to have taken the EXP105 class first. This class has taught me the meaning of why we learn. The class has taught me how to learn, and the many ways we learn on a daily basis with each task we complete. Taking this class I see learning on a whole new level. I have what it means to be an intentional learner. When I first began the class, I had no idea that there were ways we learn and that being and intentional learner would help me understand how to develop my skills and understand how I learn.
Taking human development as one of my first courses in the program has really impacted me and how I will mold myself to be the best educational counselor for my students. All the information I receive, I take it like a sponge and apply it to my current job setting. This course has definitely been an eye-opener and I have started to transition from being sympathetic to having empathy.
After taking this course I have a better understand how so many thing shapes our minds, our thoughts and our lives. Our brain is just like the engine of a car that is the main source that makes our body function. We learn by what we see, hear and sometimes what we inherit like our behavior when dealing with the Schizophrenia disease. We must be careful of what we feed into our minds rather it is good or bad. Positive and Negative reinforcements can affect your mind, your behavior and your actions towards other individuals. I found that the people that support me daily and has helped me throughout this journey that we call life were Positive Reinforcements. It has made me feel like I can handle and accomplish anything. I was also able to suggest
Like everyone else when I signed up, I had no clue what I was getting into, and to be completely honest I thought the course would be a breeze. Although there was not a ton of homework the in-class discussions and reflection groups were sometimes pretty challenging to be a part of. I found an environment where there was no need to lie or nonsense an answer just to get a grade. It was maybe the first time in a college course where I felt comfortable not having to make sure I had the “right” answer. This was especially true of our reflection group where a couple of college students who were more or less strangers to each other were thrown together and became incredibly close after just a few
First when I was evaluating my scores I began to look to see what areas I did poorly in, and I came to realize I did not do very poorly in any of the categories. The only score that was not equal to or greater in
