To the Honourable Mr. President,
Imagine heartbreak, loved ones dying, and losing hope. This has transpired for many in America today, all because of gun violence. It has become a great problem for our society in recent years. Data from Every Town Research has shown In their article Gun Violence by the Numbers “...that on an average day, 93 Americans are killed with guns...For every one person killed, two are injured” Many will deny that gun violence is a dilemma, but it is. Most do not realize this but, over 62% of the deaths that occur are suicides, and just over 1,642 people killed by gun violence were accidental. There is something very wrong here, and something needs to change quickly. If so many of these deaths are incidental, and suicides; There is clearly a correlation between something in our society today, and the terribly high rates of suicide which need to be addressed. I contend we need to get out there and instruct our youth, and adults on how to handle situations with a gun. Additionally, we should discover what is causing so many to feel as if suicide is the only way out of the pain, and suffering from a long unsatisfactory life.
Many fixate on the number of homicides and mass shootings occurring. Which is indeed a problem as well; however statistics show it is actually significantly lower than it was back, in the late to early 90’s. In 2015, There were 12,979 homicides with guns. In the Article Gun Homicide Rate Down by 49% since 1993 by pew research a
Many teenagers and even adults feel worthless and depressed and give up on life. Instead of taking action and getting help to solve their life problems, these people choose to commit suicide. There are about 30,000 suicide deaths per year. This number is outrageously high. One out of every 45 attempts of suicide actually succeeds. Whether suicide attempters succeed or fail, all depends on how easy it is for them to get the resources they want to use for this task, especially firearms. Deborah Azrael, a research associate at Harvard’s Research Center, found that when guns were predominant in a state, suicide rates were higher. The inverse of this statement was also correct, in states where guns were not prevalent, suicide rates were lower. Many lives would be saved, many suicides would be prevented, and many families would be able to avoid heartbreak and despair, if firearms were not accessible in the United
Every year in the united states more than 30,000 people die from gun violence. Researchers say that gun violence is getting out of
Gun law advocates argue that gun control laws diminish the amount of weaponry in the streets, and, by extension, in the hands of criminals. Likewise, gun control will diminish suicide. There were 464,033 total gun deaths between 1999 and 2013: 270,237 suicides (58.2% of total deaths); 174,773 homicides (37.7%); and 9,983 unintentional deaths (2.2%) (CDC, 2014). If perhaps, one of these families had a surviving brother or sister, mother or father, due to the current policies, it is worth enacting change. It is inhuman to allow people to die by firearms when they could simply be banned. In light of the recent mass shootings, families are left with the lingering wonder as to whether these national tragedies could be prevented. Criminals can easily
Our founding fathers created the 2nd amendment for the safety and security of our country. Personally I don’t believe we should be changing this right. They fought for our country so that we could have these rights as Americans so we shouldn’t go and change this right. It is a part of our history and they wouldn’t have made this right if it wouldn’t benefit us as Americans. I believe that guns are like drugs you can ban them all you want but people will find a way to get them and there is nothing you can do to stop it because there will always be a way to get them.
According to "Gun Violence Archive 2015 Toll of Gun Violence” there has been a total of 48,677 incidents involving a firearm in America this year (2015). The number of deaths this year from gun violence is 12,323, while the number of injuries (24,890) is almost double the number of deaths (Gun Violence Archive 2015). The number of children (ages 0-11 years old) killed or injured due to gun violence is 645, while the number of teenagers (ages 12-17 years old) killed or injured is 2,440 (Gun Violence Archive 2015). The number of mass shootings in 2015 is 310 (Gun Violence Archive 2015). The number of officer-involved incidents is 4,060, and home invasion incidents 2,093 (Gun Violence Archive 2015). The number of times a firearm was used in self-defense
In America, most occurrences of gun violence do not involve a mass shooting, terrorist attack, or police intervention. The majority of gun violence centers around suicide and homicide. Of the 309 people who are shot in America each day, 32 are murdered, and 58 commit suicide (1). Most policymakers see this as an issue, although the stances they take to combat it vary from party to party. Policies to help curb the issue rarely pass, due to their polarization nature and the protections within the Second Amendment.
Start your speech here...35,000 people die each year from guns and even robberies in the United States. How many people do you know who took a gun safety course before owning a gun? I bet it’s lower than people you now that didn’t take one.The issue is gun are helping people die, and more and more crimes happen each day in our lives.
There are about 10,000 gun homicides that occur a year and 20.000 gun suicides that occur a year (Heroux, 2013). The United States has far more gun related killings than any other developed country, but not the most of any country. However gun violence is not the leading cause of violence in America, it is simply just the most salient (Heroux, 2013). People who loves owning or shooting guns don't necessarily love violence. There are plenty of people who own guns but would never think about using it on someone. There are different types of violence, different types of solutions, and different types of ways of approaching these solutions due to this violence. There is no one size fits all
Individuals who commit suicide not only inflict fatal harm to their own life but also adversely affect the lives of family and those to which they are acquainted. This often impetuous action is responsible for very significant numbers of deaths in this country and guns, particularly handguns, are the major instrument of choice to carry out this unfortunate act; owing to their inherent lethality and accessibility (Lewiecki & Miller, 2013).
When one American kills another, they typically use a gun. In fact, Americans use guns twice as much as any other deadly weapon. At the current rate, 339,000 Americans will die by guns over the next 10 years. In the USA, states with the most weapons are prone to confer high assault rates. This shows that guns are the main cause of crime in America. The USA has the highest gun ownership rate on the planet as there are 89 guns for every 100 Americans. A nation with the most guns are likely to suffer more gun related crimes. Between 1999 and 2013 there were 270,237 firearm suicides in the United States. A person who wants to kill himself is most unlikely to commit suicide when a gun is not accessible. This shows that guns lead to all sorts of problems in the USA. This is another reason why guns should be made
There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. U.S. population 324,059,091 as of Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.000000925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:
Of the 365 days in 2015, there was a total of 330 mass shootings in America (Gun Violence Archive). Of the 53,092 reported gun related incidents that year, there were 13,394 deaths (Gun Violence Archive). There is no doubt that the citizens of the United States of America are facing a major gun problem.
Firearms contribute to high suicide rates. Fire arms are different than other suicide methods in one key aspect: attempts are much more likely to be fatal. Other means of attempting suicide are take time, less reliable, and more likely to survive and get counseling. Harvard Injury Control Research Center find that the fatality rate of suicide attempts with a firearm exceed 90%, compared with a fatality rate of less than 5% for other common suicide methods (117). The suicide with gun is biggest concern in teenagers and young adulthood. When many people experiencing, pronounced emotional and social difficulties without having the life experience or maturity to put them into
If you love to hunt or are just interested in firearms, you probably have thought about reloading your guns. This isn't really surprising; after all, by making your own ammunition, you'll have the chance to save more money and spend less on each piece. You'll also have full control over how your bullets are made, which means you can ensure that they're tailored to your specifications and will let you fire extremely accurate rounds — something that you can't really do with commercial, mass-produced bullets. Of course, you'll gain a sense of pride and satisfaction, knowing that you have the ability to make your own ammo whenever you want to.

Data from Every Town Reasearch has shown In their article Gun Violence by the Numbers “...that on an average day, 93 Americans are killed with guns...For every one person killed two are injured” Many will deny that gun violence is a problem, but it is. If so many of these deaths are accidental, and suicides there must be something wrong in our society.
