On the road to Damascus the Lord intervenes in Saul’s life (Acts 9: 3-6) and he is genuinely converted during that encounter with the Lord Jesus. Under the ministry of Ananias (a disciple) he was also healed and filled with the Holy Spirit. Paul’s preaching was very convincing and disturbing to the Damascus Jews to the point where they desired to kill him. Therefore, the other Christian disciples assisted him in his escape by night (Acts 9:22-25) that he may escape to Arabia. Paul’s missionary Journeys were defining actions of him, he usually set foot with other companions and he endured hardships on these voyages. He was imprisoned, lashed and stoned several times and almost murdered once (2 Cor. 11:24-27).

After the crucifixion of Jesus in AD 29, his followers kept spreading his message. During this time, the Pax Romana made traveling untroubling with the safer roads, and spreading ideas by common languages, Latin and Greek. Saint Paul, originally named Saul, was a crucial part in the development of Christianity. Paul, who was born in Tarsus, Cilicia, grew up Jewish and was trained as a rabbi (Adcock). Paul eventually converted to Christianity, but before he did, the future of the religion was looking very slim. Rome had made it illegal to practice Christianity. Paul was a pious Jew, so his conversion to Christianity surprised many of his followers. They viewed him with much suspicion and treated him with hostility. Paul was dedicated to his new life and made it his mission to spread Christianity throughout the eastern provinces of the Roman Empire and eventually to Rome itself. Paul made two separate journeys throughout the Mediterranean. He preached about the message of Jesus to many and sent his letters to the people he had not visited. St Paul the apostle was the great missionary leader, a disciple of Christ and diffuser of the lord Jesus. Paul started his third missionary journey beginning in 53-58Ad; hear he visited four very significant locations. Ephesus, Corinth, Troas and Caesarea. His missionary work first started by establishing churches through out the Mediterranean, preaching Christianity and gaining followers (act 19-26).

During Paul's three mission trips, he encountered and encouraged many people. During his second missions trip, Paul met Timothy. Timothy grew up in Lystra and it is said that he was spoken very highly of and respected by the Christians in the area. His mother came from a Jewish background and it is believed that she was a Christian; however, his father was Greek and it is believed that he was not a believer. Because of the fact that his father was Greek, timothy was uncircumcised and when he decided to become a disciple of Paul, he had to be circumcised, not because it had to do with his salvation, but so that it would not hinder his ministry with the Jews. This took dedication and over time Timothy became one of Paul's most devoted followers.

The Apostle Paul (formerly Saul) is responsible for the spread of Christianity throughout the areas of Asia Minor and Greece. Through his 3 mission trips to the region Paul created a base of support for the Christian faith and implemented a support strategy for future growth. The time period for his journeys was 45 AD – 58 AD. The story of Paul is interesting from the perspective that the man best known as the author of most of the New Testament started out as a devout Jew and despised the Christian faith. After his conversion he made it his life’s work to spread the Christian message throughout the world. To this end, Paul made several mission trips to the area of Asia Minor and Greece.

Sanjoaninas, one of the greatest experiences of my life, this gathering of people on the Azorean island Terceira was the largest gathering I’ve been a part of. If you’ve never heard of it before and you love to travel the world or learn about new cultures, this is an excellent place to go. The festival of Saint John is a Portuguese tradition where everyone comes together and has a huge fiesta or party. I personally went to attend this two-week long fiesta as a musician, I play the tuba for Lira Acoriana. The entire island congregates in the main town, Angra de Heroismo, and marches in a parade. Bethsaida Gaulanitis was near where the Jordan River enters the Sea of Gennesaret. This place was abandoned at around 65 AD. Peter’s original name appointed to him by his parents was Simon, it became Peter when Jesus changed his name. His father’s name was Jonah. Jonah was a physically strong individual, hence he became a fisherman. Peter deeply followed in his father’s footsteps. His mother’s name was Perpetua. Not much is known about her. Peter also had a brother named, Andrew. Andrew was another one of Jesus’s twelve disciples. Peter did not go to school, he was just taught by his father in the trade of fishing

God gave Paul a mission to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles. They traveled from city to city spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. However, the message was not always being received. It is really no confirmed certainty on why John Mark eventually left Paul and Barnabas to return to Jerusalem. The Jews went on record as being in opposition to the Gospel, but Paul kept preaching the Gospel to the Gentiles. Paul saw that the Gentiles were very receptive to the Gospel.

Paul visited Ephesus on his first missionary journey, on the way from Greece to Syria. After his third missionary journey, he stayed there and pastored the Ephesian church for 3 years (Easton, np). “Though Paul was not the first to bring Christianity to Ephesus, for Jews had long lived there, he was the first to make progress against the worship of Diana” (Orr, np). Because of his strong ties to the church, Paul cared deeply about the faith of the believers there (Macarthur, np).

Paul remained in Antioch of Syria for only a short time before he set out on his third missionary trip. It followed the same path as the previous journey until he reached Antioch in Pisidia. He visited churches in Derbe, Lystra, Iconium and Antioch. From Antioch, he traveled through Laodicea on his way to Ephesus,
