Stakeholders In The Community

Stakeholders are a big part of a healthcare organization. They play a major role in the Healthcare Delivery System that plays a part in the performance and the health of the organization. Five of the major stakeholders consist of government, providers (which includes doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers), patients, insurance companies, and pharmaceutical companies. Based off of the healthcare delivery system where it stands now, there are some recommendations that the stakeholder can do to have a positive effect on the healthcare delivery system.

Sandra Sanchez is a vice principal for Los Santos High School. She has been approached by the principal of Los Santos and the superintendent to head up a pilot to implement the Common Core standards. Sandra was selected given her experience with the bilingual makeup of the district, and her work on her PhD in assessment. In addition the district had decided to bring in an outside design consultant, Vincent Peters, to assist Sandra in developing the training courses and assessment that will be used in the pilot at Los Santos. Given these dynamics it is apparent that the client is the Los Santos High School. It could be debated that Sandra is the client, but since she will be assisting in the full design process of both the training and the assessment she falls more into the designer classification. Vincent’s role is solely the designer of the training and assessment he will just have support from Sandra in doing so.

Stakeholders are individuals or groups that partake, or assert, possession, privileges, or benefits in a, organization and its accomplishments, previously currently, and in the upcoming (Barrett, 2001). These requested privileges or benefits are the result of communications with, or activities reserved by the organization, and they must be lawful or ethical, separate or combined Stakeholders with comparable benefits, entitlements, or privileges can be categorized as fitting into the similar collection: personnel, investors, and clients (Barrett, 2001). The better the impact these groups have on client’s lives and the extra community assets with which they are assigned, and it becomes vital that they are responsible (Barrett, 2001).

There are many people who have a stake in the healthcare industry. There are several stakeholders such as the patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, organizations, and those who enforce policy. The patients’ interest is the need of the best healthcare procedure to be healthy. As a healthcare provider the quality of care that can be useful for patients. Insurance companies sells health insurance to patients or employer that can be beneficial to providers. Organizations develop plans that are used for patients. Policymakers create and implement laws that to improve quality care to the public. These stakeholders can play a major role in the safety concern of patients. A stakeholder are people or groups that have an investment in the patient evidence based healthcare decisions (Agency for Healthcare Research and quality, 2015). In this case, already listed is the patient and the physician but Medicaid is a stakeholder as well. The stake for Medicaid is being the insurer this tells the patient where he can and cannot get treatment. It also set the type of treatment is covered. According to AHRQ, the local clinic is also a stakeholder. The facility has made the decision on what kind of insurance to utilize which was not Medicaid cause the patient to be denied access to care. The healthcare industry is a also listed as a stakeholder especially in reference to manfacture for treatment. The manufacture is the expert when it comes to how to administer treatment and how to operate the device they made. Policy makers also have a stake in the patient healthcare utilization . In this instance the lawmakers had to set policy who was eligible for Medicaid.These few factors have impacted the patient tremendously.

In healthcare the stakeholders are key element of the organization. The stakeholders are the Providers, Payers, Employers and Patients. The stakeholders are individuals with some stake or concern in the process. The customers want the lowest rate and the highest quality of provision. The employers want job security, a decent workplace and benefits. The corporation desires to see the highest revenue for the lowest total cost.

People often think of stakeholders as people with a monetary stake in an organization, but not necessarily true anymore. In the past, people considered stakeholders the people with a financial stake in the organization that would receive profits from the success of the business. Examples of internal stakeholders which Dr. DoRight might engage daily would be: Director of Public Health, Head of Health Intelligence and Information, Director of Nursing, Public Health Strategists, Vice President of Human Relations or Members of the Board of Trustees (Markwell, 2010). External stakeholders are not directly connected to the organization; however, they are vested in the hospital’s success as clients, business or community partners. These stakeholders have influence over organizational activities by contributing their views and experiences related to issues which are important to them. Medical providers or suppliers, Patient Advocacy Groups, Quality Assessors, the Media, and Heads of Local Community and Special Interest Groups are examples of external

The clinic manager’s role in this process change will be to educate the staff on the importance of this change and why this change needs to happen.
