Star Wars was successful in this aspect because of the light-saber, and Darth Vader costumes- both of which are unmistakably recognizable. However, putting merchandise on the market is not a matter of just creating a unique product. There is an entire process that goes into the selling of merchandise. As A matter of fact, the studio that produced the movie does not have that much involvement in what the final product put on the market is. All they have to do, is have enough money to get companies to produce merchandise for them. According to (Lubbers, Charles A. and William J. Adams), the first step is to get in contact with organizations that would be interested in creating and selling a product. If the studio wanted toys made, then they
Merchandising is explained as the activities having to do with the right merchandise at the right price, at the right quantities, at the right time, and in the right place with the right hands. The transfer of goods between consumers and producers is defined as marketing. When these elements are focused on major motion movie pictures, movie producer companies will be able to promote any kind of themed product with a unique connection to the movie. The center of the marketing effort on movies relies on the success of the movie. This essay will focus on the Star Wars franchise, the Harry Potter franchise and the MCU(Marvel Studios) franchise and how each franchise profits from its’ products.
This face belonged to a long lost friend, and former apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Vader was before his transformation. This Young Jedi’s name was Ahsoka Tano. She had left the Jedi Order after her master and the council did some unsavory deeds. Anakin thought he would never see her again, but he was wrong, for he would see her in the form as an enemy of the Empire. (Star Wars: Rebels)
A good story, however long or short, always concludes with a great finale. In the film Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (Richard Marquand, 1983), the final fight between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker is legendary, and one of the best finales of any movie in its era. Return of the Jedi’s finale is the final fight between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, a perfect mix of great Mise-en-scène, contains a perfect understanding of the technical aspects of film, and the depth of the content within the film is extraordinary.
They seek to make viewers believe in the images they are seeing. They use somewhat familiar elements of technology in a fictional way that helps to make the connection between fiction and reality. The use of fictional technology elements are used to enable and make a swift transition between developments in the plot. Star Wars definitely reflects this as it frequently includes fictional or ‘alien’ characters. This is shown quite early in the film just after Rey is introduced. It is shortly after she discovers BB8 and attempts to get a good amount of food from the ‘scavenger’ town. This is where many different creatures are inhabited. These different creatures probably sat through hours of special effects makeup. This is also included when Chewbacca is introduced. The costume for Chewbacca must have taken a lot of time and effort to make. These scenes include many props; the majority being scrap metal parts. This brings everything to some sort of familiar situation as they have some ‘human’ objects. Both of these examples suggest that they used many costumes, models to create the aliens and great amounts of props. This obviously conforms to the genre conventions of Science Fiction giving the sense of a truly good
“It’s true - the Force, the Jedi, all of it. It’s all true” (Harrison Ford, The Force Awakens). The new Star Wars flick The Force Awakens burst onto the big screen with enormous critical and monetary success this past winter, and it seems that the franchise has truly been revived from the overall upsets of the prequels back to its epic roots in pop culture. But does the movie really hold up compared to the original trilogy? Indeed, the film shines through its engaging plot, important themes and flawless technique.
It is a long standing, recognized fact that the classic Star Wars films exhibited key archetypes in the human psyche. These included not only such universal themes as the male coming of age tale and feminism, but also somewhat more obscure examples. These included, but were not limited to, the Hero, the Anti Hero, the Mother, the Wise Old Man, the Devil, the Mentor, the Father, and others. These and others interact in a saga of events that leads the films' main characters to the 'spiritual' goal of self actualization. Though Star Wars will be the topic of this paper, it holds true that these themes are explored throughout pop culture, pointing to the idiotropic role of fiction in general. We play these stories out in our heads not simply for the flashes and bangs of entertainment value, but also, if only subconciously, to hold up a mirror our own souls and better understand the human condition.
May 25, 1977, was the day a whole new world of sci-fi movies made an appearance - the first movie of the beloved Star Wars franchise came out. This series of movies required several components, like acting and music. Months of preparation and production made Star Wars one of the greatest.
Ever since I was a kid, I was a huge fan of Star Wars. I would buy toys and games that was associated with the funchaine, and I would rewatch the whole series multiple of times. After many years since I watch the series, I revisit it to look at the it with a different lense. Since I had only good memories of the series, I decided to checked out what was claimed to be the worst movie of the series; Star War: Episode I-The Phantom Menace. Since The Phantom Menace was a prequel to the original three movie, the movie was the build up for the series. It follows the events of the Naboo trade crisis. After rewatching the movie, I was shock how dumbfounded I was while I was a kid. I couldn’t see the poor quality and effort that was put into this movie.
Star Wars the Force Awakens is every sci-fi fans dream. The 2015 hit, directed by J.J Abrams brought record-breaking numbers to the box office, reviving the legendary story of Star Wars. The series brings aboard new characters to the beloved series such as John Boyega playing as Finn, Oscar Isaac playing as Poe and our main characters, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren and Daisy Ridley as Rey. The movie completely revamps the Star Wars universe with breathtaking scenes and music that will punch you with nostalgia. The action packed movie creates a very new, fresh environment and sprinkles in just the right amount of easter eggs to make it my movie of the year.
It's kinda funny, I've literally never seen any of the Star Wars movies. A lot of my friends rant and rave about it, and here I am completely oblivious to what they are so intrigued by. I like how you pointed out the advertisement aspect of the movie industry. A decent percentage of sales is actual merchandise. Although I've never seen the series, I still own a star wars coffee mug. The people in charge of marketing were able to appeal to a broader
Your head was aching from working today. Your boss kept, well, bossing around. “Y/N do this, Y/N do that, blah blah blah.”, you grumbled. You put your key in the lock and opened the door. You could hear Stiles and your son arguing about, Star Wars, again? Once you walked into the living room, you let your bag fall on the ground of astonishment, the room was a complete mess. “What happened here?!” You looked at them and your son stood up, running to you. “Daddy and I made a hut out of blankets and other stuff!” You sighed and crouched down to your 5-year-old son. “Sweetheart, that’s really nice, but you and daddy have to clean up everything. Otherwise we have to cancel Star Wars night.” He nodded and began picking up his toys. You walked over to Stiles, who has been looking at his feet the whole time. “You, upstairs.”, you commanded him and he did what you said.
Director J.J. Abram’s Star Wars: Episode Vll - A Force Awakens is a great piece of film that surpassed everyone's expectations. This is the seventh installment in the Star Wars franchise, and continues the adventures of Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca; along with some new faces. The highly anticipated movie stayed true to the original trilogy by successfully incorporating themes of action, adventure, suspense, fantasy, sci-fi, and the dark side. There are three criteria, mostly the movies ability to tell a great story, originality, and action packed scenes that made the movie a worth while experience. This movie is also rated PG-13, so the whole family is welcome to experience the adventure.
George Lucas created a six part movie sequel called Star Wars.Star Wars. Star Wars is a global pop culture icon that is a science-fiction fantasy set in a whole different galaxy. Star wars is an icon because at the time it was made “the technology required to bring the movie's universe to visual life simply didn't exist”(“The Untold Story Of ILM, A Titan That Forever Changed Film”,2015).Critics say George Lucas”Combined Flash Gordon with Akira Kurosawa ,threw in some science fiction novels, comic books, the wizard of Oz,and sewed it up with Joseph Campbell's ideas on the structure of myth.(Kristen Brennan,2006).Star Wars movies use many types of computer tricks like CGI (computer generated imagery) to make certain characters. Lastly George Lucas’s
Not so long ago in a galaxy a bit closer to home, George Lucas crafted one of the most iconic movies of all time. That movie was soon followed by a series of mind bending movies that captured the hearts and minds of generations up to this day. From light saber duels to the destructive power of the Death Star, Star Wars is one movie saga that we are all familiar with. But how did this captivating series come to be? How did it all begin? Just how did George Lucas come up with such brilliant ideas for Star Wars? What are the true origins of Star Wars? Not many people know that Star Wars isn’t the product of George Lucas’ own imagination. As a matter of fact, George Lucas actually got most of his ideas and concepts
As you may gather from my review I am knowledgable about the other pre-sequels to do with Star Wars that Lucas has done. I told you what I like about them. I also don’t like Rogue One. It just seem to me to be a bad plot for the movie. Solo: A Star Wars story was tasfully done. It didn’t go overboard with anything. It had the right amount of action present. I think people will be pleased with it.
