There are also many options within a specific specialty. There is the option to be a teacher, to work for various organizations, be a speaker, to have your own practice, and many others. In the psychology field these options can all be combined. In fact it is expected of psychologists to do more activities involving their specialty than solely sit in an office and listen to patients. After reading the first chapter of my assignment the subfield of psychology which I liked most was the multicultural psychology, were culture as a factor plays a major role in influencing and shaping the behaviour of people though not highly considered when making conclusions on behaviour modification and thinking pattern of people in our societies today.

Throughout the course of the first semester we as a Psychology class learned a whole variety of different and varying concepts of Psychology. Chapter one we went over all the different ways psychologists study behaviors and mental processes. Included were the contemporary perspectives, such as behavioral, which focuses on behavior that is observed. Psychodynamic focuses on our fantasies and our hidden motives. Humanistic is all about our free will and conscious choices. Physiological is the relationships between biological processes and behavior. Cognitive perspective is our acquired knowledge, and last but not least is sociocultural, which places great value on the role of cultural and social influences on our behavior.

Students who are about to graduate and start their lives in the real world with no guidelines to follow should have a plan for their lives to be successful. With this in mind, there are many careers that are interesting to me. While a Medical Transcriptionists and Medical Records Technicians are good, being a Psychologist is the best career choice for me. This paper will explain why a Psychologist is a better choice than a than the others.

A wise person recognizes the face of necessity. It is important to identify with a specific goal in life, especially a career goal. When one considers the field of psychology it is important to acknowledge the various possibilities that are available to an individual who wants to pursue a career in this field. A psychologists are those who study the “cognitive, emotional, and social processes and behaviors by observing, interpreting, and recording how people relate to one another and their environment”(Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2016). When people think of having a career in psychology their interest is usually sparked by the stereotypical idea of the profession, at least that was the case for myself. Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so important because that is what people will have to do to support their selves throughout life.
