Hi, Angelo! I enjoyed reading your post, especially your enthusiasm you put into your writing. I completely agree with you about English 101 being crucial preparation for Bethel University's writing-based curriculum. English 101 was an excellent refresher course for me. Hope English 102 is an incredible experience for both us to continue to grow as
To begin with, I joined English 101 because I am doing general studies at the moment. Secondly, I took the placement test and the score I received was best suited for English 101. In addition, writing was never my strongest subject, but I am willing to put the effort to be a better writer. I expect to gain from taking English 101 is to argue and support a position, edit and proofread thoroughly, and understand the stages of the writing process. I’m sure I will have concerns in the future, but I’m not worried about them because I will seek for help when I’m in need. Furthermore, I will use all resources available such as going to the teacher for help, getting toured, EMCC Computer Commons, Buckeye Campus- Student Services, EMCC Library, and
This year in our English 1010 class, we covered many different genres and types of writing. We covered how to write personal narratives, how to respond to other students and other forms of writing, and how to professionally write essays. Briefly, we touched down on how to write argumentatively and were also required to create an infographic, wish was probably my favorite assignment. Although I never thought of myself as a strong writer, I believe that this class has greatly improved not only my writing skills, but my thinking skills as well. This was my first English class to be taken through dual enrollment and I believe that it went quite successfully while challenging me as a writer.
Writing 101 has been a tremendous learning experience for me. It is not my strongest area, so it is my primary reason for taking the class. I took this Writing 101 class to improve my writing skills. In college courses, I have to do a tremendous amount of writing. Writing is also not my favorite thing to do, because it takes time, thought and research. The first week of class, we had to write the first assignment draft. I thought this class will be hard for me and difficult to keep up with the assignments. I disagree with my initial thought. The class definitely challenged me, but I learned so much. My expectation was to improve my writing skills. I would say I met that expectation. However, I feel that I need to continue to learn and perfect my writing to become even more proficient. I learned how to develop strong thesis statements, to conduct online library searches. I started WRTG 101 with a basic knowledge of the writing skills; now I know how to accurately use punctuations, I know how to develop unified, consistent and well-supported paragraphs, and I know my weaknesses in my writing.
English isn't one of my favorite subjects, but it was interesting to learn much more about English through this course. This course, overall, taught me about how to organize my ideas and the importance of clicking the button that checks one's spelling on the paper. Even though, I improved throughout my time in this course in my organization and expressing my ideas. I still have some mistakes to improve on in my writing. English 101 showed the importance of writing and the ability to express my ideas throughout my academic career.
The English 101 course has been instrumental in the improvement of various aspects of my writing. The course has been of significant aid in the comprehension of the English language. The learning of the different methods of writing has provided one with an opportunity to better understand the dynamics of different pieces of writing. The concepts that have been learnt in the course are important in the overall improvement of ones’ mastery of the English language. The ability to come up with accurate and precise pieces of writing provides one with a chance to gain creative and analytical skills that are necessary for effective learning and communication. Critical understanding of the use of the English language in writing is essential in the development of self-confidence thus boosting ones’ employability skills. The course has facilitated the comprehension of various Student Learning Outcomes majorly Student Learning Outcome A, B, C, D and F.
I don’t know how I will do in this course, since I cannot predict future. Nevertheless, I will put in the effort in order to gain the highest grade possible. English 101 has given me the tools necessary to do well in English 394. This course allows a student to obtain the tools necessary to become a successful student in the University of Maryland. I learned about the different analysis of writing, such as a summary, rhetorical analysis and the position paper. Each of these assignments has given me a valuable understanding of writing, which is often negated in our teachings. It has helped me understand that a well written paper needs a purpose and critical thinking to establish legitimacy.
When signing up for class I knew that I had to take an English 101 class. But there was a little bump in the road to having the class. When I got back form winter break I looked at my schugle and saw that there was no English class. So, I went down to the admiration office to speak to my advisor and see if I could get into any English 101 class. Luckily there was one class available that worked with my schugle. Taking English 101 has help developed my reading and writing skills on hobbits of mind, aniotating an article and using ethos, pathos, and logos. When it comes to writing, and reading my weakness is trying to come up with a good thesis. But my strengths are writing an excellent body.
Being in English 101 plus has helped me grow as a writer, a thinker and it also has been a challenge. My expectations for myself was to get a 4.0, I didn't achieve my goal, but I did try my best. I had previous experience on writing the way we did in class. I learned it in high school, but my grammar has been an obstacle. During this quarter I learned how to structure a sentence, how to be more open-minded and also how to make my writing stand out. This class taught me how to write my view in a more professional way.
In English 101 there are several aspects of writing that I did not get to explore in high school. In this class we were given freedom to write our stories without harsh guidelines that twisted our creativity. I have learned how to absorb information and transfer it to paper in a style to keep readers engaged. I am able to reflect on my writing process and critique my problems. This class has given me skills that I can put into practice in the future.
I would like to take time to say thank you; I greatly appreciate your time and patience. I entered English 101 not knowing what to expect, but that’s life, not knowing until you get a chance to know someone or something. I took English 101 after I finished English 100 and I must say it’s a major difference with the aspect I've learned. I had a tough time in English 100 with writing since I didn't know what to write on paper even though I had numerous ideas in my head. I came a long way and practice makes perfect but in reality no one’s perfect, so now that English 101 became a part of my study, it gave me additional confidence in myself and what I'm capable of doing.
To begin with, this English 101 course differed from the previous English courses I have taken by being less hostile, more informative, and all around more helpful. This course was much more relaxed, in the way that, students were not constantly looking over their shoulder terrified that the teacher might come up behind them and belittle everything they had written and throw it out. Dr. Bosse took the time to go over each type of writing we were about to encounter, giving us examples and explaining the examples to make sure each of us knew exactly what was expected and how we could accomplish it. If we had problems, there was no doubt, we could go to him for help and advice, whether it be in class or not. Dr. Bosse made sure that each of us
I’m taking English 101 not simply because it’s required, but because I truly do need it. I need to strengthening my skills in reading and writing. My goals for this course are to work on strengthening my fluency, structure, grammar, and mechanics in writing. And Also, work on strengthening my reading comprehension.
This semester in English 102 has been the most my writing has ever grown from one class. I have learned a lot different things about styles of writing and different types of essays. I liked how the class was based on a lot of “Why?” questions that really made you think. That made for a very interesting class each day.
English 1010 has provided me with more knowledge than I ever gained through out high school. High School English did not prepare me for college at all. My senior year I had one paper due at the very beginning of the year. After that, we switched to Shakespearian literature. This literature consisted of us watching movies and taking quizzes rather than writing. The reading during high school did not interest me. Therefore, I never found the deeper meaning within the text. I would read a passage and not retain a single thing about what I just read. This course has not only just taught me how to write properly, it has taught me how to find the meaning within the text and connect it to the real world to further the discussion on a subject.
English 101 was enlightening. It gave me a greater understanding about the writing portion in english as a whole. I am very glad that I choose to talk about dogs as my semester topic. I never became overwhelmed or annoyed with having to write a paper about dogs, one of
