Initially, my main reason for volunteering was to meet my school’s requirement of 40 community service hours to participate in the senior activities. I wanted to get them over with my freshman year but didn’t want to spend my time doing something I wouldn’t enjoy. I was looking forward to doing something I could learn from and be passionate about to make the best of my time. That is when I started volunteering at the STEM All in Academy. The All in Academy is an afterschool program implemented in various elementary schools around my city that focuses on exposing kids to the wonders of STEM and encourages them to become more engaged in related careers. I began my work here because of my interest in the STEM field and because it allowed me
I volunteer because it's needed whether it's that my church doesn't have enough altar servers or my club booth doesn't have anyone scheduled to help, not to get a graduation cord. To be an effective citizen you have to act for the benefit of society and take initiative to fix problems even if no one else will. I frequently write to state officials because I care that north texas and our county are protected. Moreover, tithing is important and I am one of the youngest contributors to the Crow Collection of Asian Art and Preservation Dallas, causes that I care for, being my culture and
Volunteering gives me the opportunity to be there for someone and to change people’s lives including my own. Volunteering to me is a way of giving back to the community or someone in need of help. For as long as I can remember I have always had the passion for helping people especially children and the aged, thus my interest in nursing. Any opportunity to perform an act of kindness made me happy that at least I could be of help to someone. From taking care of my siblings and cousins, babysitting, helping friends and among others. Of the many goals I have in life the most important one is to provide help to those in need through my commitment of service. I volunteered at a daycare school closer to me and
Volunteering and participating in service projects are two of the most rewarding activities in my opinion. Some people may find it was a hassle or only do it because they have to meet the minimum requirement for school or work. Helping others, for me, has always been somewhat second nature to me. Over many years of volunteering I believe I have developed qualities that will stick with me for life and benefit me in my career. As early as freshman year, in high school, I found myself looking for ways to give back. I started by looking for opportunities within school, where I came across the A+ tutoring program, and so my journey of giving back began. While tutoring, my patience for others really evolved, partly by choice and partly because
“Many people feel a sense of self in doing something for others: friendship, support, bonding and a feeling of belonging are why some people volunteer. I also felt this feeling of belonging when would participate in the Saint Jude Bike-a-thon. Most of my friends and classmates would be there pushing along with me. Volunteering events also provide a great opportunity to meet new people and develop new meaningful relationships with them. The shared experience is usually what bonds people
I am very involved in volunteer work because working to make a better world is very dear to my heart. I was the Senior Class Representative of my high school service club and my job was to organize a lot of events. I was heavily involved in the committee for our Mini Dance Blue Marathon, and loved dancing the night away for the kids. I loved working with kids and helping to shape them so I have volunteered at day camps such as Winshape Camp Foundation and Camp Can-I-Go for a few years.
The point for volunteering is to build relationships, problem solve, what to do in a conflict situation, and step outside of my comfort zone. Let me tell you, I have learned to do each and every single one of those. I realized that the kids from the rec. center are in need of someone who they can look up to and a dependable person who they can count on. For example, I was looking after a group of kids that needed help with homework and when walking around I hear a conversation
At first I just started to volunteer because I needed to to get my hours done, but I ended up loving it. My first volunteering job was to tell people to go from station to station, it was not that
Volunteering is something I love doing, I enjoy helping others that struggle with certain things. I love volunteering because I love giving back to the community and helping others. Communicating and making connections with people is very important because it can make a difference in people's lives and you can also have the opportunity to meet new and interesting people. Volunteering is a great opportunity for you to gain skills and experience working in teams. Volunteering can change someone's life a whole lot, you are doing something for someone that they struggle to do. I fit into the Volunteer community through babysitting at church, translating, and volunteering at the OKFD
Benet Academy instilled in me a strong moral compass, a wealth of knowledge, and a large personal drive. Through my Catholic education, I now see that the world has blessed me so much thus far in life that it only feels fair to give back. The way I desire to reciprocate is to serve my country in the Army. I believe my next step is to attend Boston College, which is renowned for its excellence in the business field and ROTC programs. My goal is to become an officer in the finance corps of the U.S. Army where exceptional mathematical skills are imperative. To prepare myself, I have taken challenging courses such as Trigonometry, Calculus, and Statistics. I know that I can contribute to the large success with my competitive knowledge and social
I enjoy the feeling of helping others. The greatest reward for my volunteering is the smiles from other people. Even though sometimes I am tired after I finish volunteering, I am cheerful. In my past three-high-school years, I do many volunteer jobs. The last time was at the presidential election day. It was a great experience that I could take part in the election process. I worked at the Taylor High School Precinct with other five volunteers.
Because of my age at the time I started volunteering, my opportunities were limited. I chose to be an education volunteer because I wanted to help educate
Community service has always been something that I was interested in. I love helping out when I can, and especially when it is necessary. I knew that I had to do hours of community service for my freshman year of high school as a project. I also knew I wanted to do the Boo Bash for my community service. I babysat a lot in the summer and enjoyed volunteering when I did. Community service should be done by everyone everywhere so they can help out their communities and I was very excited to perform more hours of community service.
When it comes to volunteering in the the local community I essentially have, since a young age. I originally started volunteering at the Lake Pepin Vet Clinic and Hiawatha Valley Humane Society in 4th and 5th grade due to my love for animals. I spent endless summer days at the vet clinic just simply helping out with daily chores and with the animals themselves. My biggest accomplishment I achieved while volunteering so young was donating money I raised from selling lemonade and cookies at the yearly humane society garage sale to the Hiawatha Humane Society itself. To this day I still volunteer in my free time at the Goodhue County Humane Society in Red Wing. I also helped out at the Lake City Senior Apartments this last summer whenever I had the chance. When it comes to being involved in my school I try to be a positive role model by participating in Lincoln Highs Team Leadership Program and National Honor Society. Along with managing baseball in the spring time due to my love for watching the game.
The reason I want to volunteer at the Stanford Medical Center is because I have the time and I want to make a difference in my community. I recognize that I may not always be able to give money, but I can always give time. I want to volunteer because I want to know more about other people rather than simply seeing the same friends and family I encounter every day. If I am able to volunteer my time to help others, I am reminded that we are all in this together and everybody needs to support each other.
There are almost as many reasons for getting involved in volunteer work as there are volunteers. Once people get started, they find that their deepest rewards are ones they didn't expect when they first came looking for a volunteer assignment. Participants entered the volunteer world through ads in the paper, articles in the media and invitations by friends. They wanted to get involved in a new community, they overheard someone talking about a need or they just wanted to be active. Some wanted to repay a perceived debt to society and others took up volunteer work as part of a major reassessment of
