Stephen King Accomplishments

Stephen King is a very famous author, he is mostly known for his scary movies and novels. Scary wouldn’t be scary without him. To start off, he was born in September 21, 1947 in Portland, Maine. His childhood wasn’t very good after his parents separated when he was just a toddler. For a short while, Stephen lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana where his dad moved after his divorce. Then after the “short while” they moved back to Durham, Maine where they finally settled for good and he was eleven. He went to Lisbon High School and went to University of Maine, where he graduated from. He then started out small by writing his first short story, “The Glass Floor.”

He attended Booker T. Washington High school. King was said to be a gifted as well as talented pupil. He was such a precocious student that he skipped both the nine and eleventh grade. By the age of 15, King entered Morehouse College in 1944. He earned a sociology degree from Morehouse College and attended the liberal Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania. He was the valedictorian of his class in 1951, after thriving in all of his classes. King entered Boston University after being accepted to many other exceptionally great universities, such as Yale and Edinburgh for his doctoral study. In 1955, he completed his PH.D and was awarded his degree whilst he was only twenty five years old.

During his years at the seminary, King Jr. rebelled against his father’s conservative ways by drinking and playing pool. Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929. As a young boy, growing up King had encounter racism, but in the end he was a proud African American. King took classes at Morehouse to improve his academics. For his college senior year, King planned to study to become a Baptist. He graduated Morehouse College in of the year 1951, earning himself a Bachelor of Divinity Degree. Howard Thurman; who was a civil rights leader had created an impacted in King’s life. Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life creating a movement that would help anyone in need of a voice.

He initially started writing the book because an unknown woman called him out, on his short stories for a magazine, and said that “you write all these macho things, but you can’t write about women. You’re scared of women” (Dymond). This comment then prompted King to begin writing what is now known as Carrie, However, it was not an easy road for King to complete his inaugural novel. He experienced many hardships along the road to completion.

Stephen King, the author of The Boogeyman (1978), wrote a horrific story on how a man describes how his 3 children got murdered. Stephen King wrote The Night Shift (1978), which The Boogeyman (1978) is in, because he wanted to build his fan base. King published The Night Shift as soon as he started to get famous. King entertains his readers by writing gruesome and terrifying stories of murders. He attended to scare his audience and he accomplished that goal.

Stephen King is one of my favorite writers of science fiction. Each of his book is simply amazing, is not an exception and the book "Different Seasons", I read it with great pleasure for a few days. "Different Seasons", which was released in 1982, contains four stories. Each story has a subtitle that associates it with one of the seasons. The structure includes such works -Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption (Hope Springs Eternal), Apt Pupil (Summer of Corruption), The Body (Fall From Innocence), The Breathing Method (Winter’s Tale). Unlike other works by the author of the book does not contain the elements of horror, which is endowed with a large part of the books of Stephen King. For all four stories were later removed movies. King’s next book was called Salem’s Lot. It was sold for $500,000. He was then cast as a horror writer. Surely enough he wrote another horror novel entitled The Shining. This is one of his most famous novels-turned-movies. He later left Doubleday and went to New American Library. He chose to do this for money and also the covers of the book. He enjoyed New American Library’s covers much more and felt it appealed to readers as it did to him. King has now published over 30 novels, and has over 100 million books in circulation being read by people across the world.

King studied in the public schools of Atlanta, spent time at the Atlanta Laboratory School until it closed in 1942, and then entered public high school in the tenth grade, skipping a grade. After completing his junior year at Booker T. Washington High School, he entered Morehouse College in the fall of 1944 at the age of 15. Since the war had taken away most young men, Morehouse, a men's college, turned to young entrants in desperation.

Stephan King is easily one of the most well-known writers in the horror genre. Often regarded as “The Master of Horror,” King’s impact on the horror genre is remarkable, and he has written both books and screenplays. Many of his works have been turned into movies, further increasing his popularity. Most people at least vaguely know who Stephen King is, but not many know his real story. In today’s time Stephen King entrances audiences and his classic books are converted into screenplays for movies.
