Right outside a corner store, next to a stoplight, or at a park, there may be a homeless person asking for some sort of help; it can either be for a place to stay, money, or food. Many people are used to categorizing a group of people by a solo characteristic, known as a stereotype. Misconception, on the other hand, is a conclusion of someone or something that is wrong because it is based on faulty thinking or facts. Based upon the lecture it is now my opinion that race is an ideology and should not be considered a physical fact. As presented in the lecture, just because someone appears to be black, does not mean they should be classified as solely “black.” The example given about Barack Obama having a white birth mother and black birth father, and yet he is classified as black. I am curious to know if Obama himself classifies himself as black, or if this is something the public classifies him as. I think most people consider race as a physical fact but should not. On a daily bases people make excuses for everything. Everything meaning our actions and the things that we say. Common things that we make excuse for deal with sexist, racist, and heterosexist comments. Sexist is classified as saying that one sex is better than the other. An example of this is someone calling a male or female something that they are not. I do not like this because we are all humans and deserve to be respected and not called something that is degrading. We all know that racist is downgrading one race compared to another. An example of this is, saying that all black people are loud and ghetto. We all act the same but some people do certain things different from others. That’s just there way of living. I do not think that just because one person acts one way the whole race does also. Heterosexist is defined as heterosexuality is better than all other expressions. An example of this would be talking about how a guy dresses and calling him gay. I do not agree with this as well because it is good to stand out and be your own person not matter how others see you.

Why make false allegations of sexual attack happen? Hearing of false sexual allegations is sad to hear. Whenever somebody hears any sexual attack that had been taken in place in time makes anybody feel heavy-hearted. People can only imagine what the victim and the victim's family is going through. At what age can this happen? “males or females of any age, race, social class, appearance or sexual orientation.” Most likely from age twelve or older are rape or sexual assault each year. The time of year this mostly occurs is in the summer. There is an average of 293,066 victims each year. In light of, even when someone here, that the alleged sexual attacker was falsely accused just makes anyone feel melancholy. False allegations can follow you all your life, accusing someone of an attack can make them go into a depression, and allegations can prevent people from getting a job.

False rape accusations can be incredibly destructive to the lives of those who are accused. As such, it is important that each case is investigated to the fullest extent possible and that the situations remain disclosed to the public until a verdict is reached. The idea of "innocent until proven guilty" must always be protected in our society; Allowing any case to ignore this philosophy is detrimental to freedom and due process all over the country. However, it is also very important to make sure that women and men can feel safe to report if they have been raped. People should not be shamed for reporting a rape, but they often are. The purpose of the study was to see if people will end up believing the fake stereotype that we told them and if it will end up effecting their performance when completing the survey. The two independent variables were Gender (male vs female) and Survey Type (if they were told the stereotype vs not told), both independent variables were between-subjects factors. Stereotyping categorizes people, races and gender into different categories which some may consider positive, while others consider them negative. Today I got a call from the manager of the Summer Hills apartment complex. He called in regards of two suspicious men in the apartments. However, when I arrived the two men were gone. Luckily the manager caught the whole scene on camera so I could get a description of the two and maybe get an idea of what had gone down. As I watched the video I noticed one guy with a tan jacket with a black hood. I could not really tell his skin color because the jacket covered his skin. The second guy in the video was blurred out so I have no description of him.
