With the size of the fitness world, does it mislead members to both unbeneficial and monetary waste? In 2015 the global health club industry was worth 81.2 billion dollars and this begs the question of whether the clubs really help and keep a majority of their members working towards a beneficial result. According to “statista.com” there over a 150 million members to the 187,000 clubs worldwide. Around the world there are over 2 billion people that are considered obese and that is over 30% of the world’s population. This is why the fitness and health industry is such a large industry. This is not only causing problems with professional athletes but just everyone in general because they see athletes that are using them and can do so much better than without them. Testosterone is what the supplement companies are using to replace steroids because as we all know they are illegal otherwise it wouldn’t be a problem. The media, television, magazines and fitness products don’t all lead to a negative effect and many people are motivated to go to the gym by the media and marketing that is promoted but most people need to ask themselves if they are getting the best benefit they can from what they are doing for themselves. Fitness isn’t really raised by the idea of marketing whether it is misleading or not and yes the dropout rates are higher than most people may believe they are but if someone has the determination to get fit and stay fit no marketing can change that but it can convince them to change their habits or the style of fitness they are perusing.
